    Great video Iggy! Sometimes it is not great to have the latest BIOS. Some of them do not work correctly after you install them and enable Expo or XMP. Sometimes they will cause BSODs after they are installed and Expo or XMP is enabled. It is convenient to keep a copy of the previous release or a version that is stable after updating it and enable Expo or XMP. I will not even download beta versions of BIOS Updates because they are not an official release neither.

      I was a product development engineer, so yes I can agree with you that bios can cause issues but I love to find issues so I jump at the chance to update.
      Updating is important for everyone because it can fix a ton of issues you don't even know you have or unlock performance you didn't realize you had, and then of course the security aspect. I've been burned before, prior to uefi, all bios' were in a chip and they were easily swapped if you had and issue, now it's much more difficult.
      That is good practice to have a backup I guess I should have gone over that but flashback is also great, also made a video on that.
      Thanks so much for your kind words, support and conversation, it's awesome, thank you so much.

    I noticed you said we would grab the chipset drivers later, but at the install section you already had the AMD CHIPSET drivers installed on the thumb drive. Where and when exactly did you end up grabbing the drivers? Im doing my first build and i want to make sure i do everything correctly lol

    Hi Iggy, As I posted already, this video is so helpful, so many excellent tips! I’ve been through it several times, as it’s really helping me understand what I need to install and in what order. There is one thing however, that I either keep missing or just don’t understand. Where does the chipset file ultimately come from? In the beginning of your video, timestamp 1:23, when you are downloading the bios update and the drivers for the ASRock X670E PRO RS Motherboard you intentionally skip the chipset that's in driver downloads for that MB. You don’t download it. Then, at about timestamp 18:09, after having installed Win 11, you copy all of the drivers from your thumb drive onto the SSD and begin to install the drivers, starting with the AMD chipset. Here’s my question. Did this chipset come from the AMD site for the CPU or did it come from the AsRock motherboard site? I’m definitely confused about this. I’m getting ready to install an Asus X670E-Plus Wifi MB and there is a chipset present in the driver updates for that MB, but now I’m not sure if I use the Asus chipset or if I get something from AMD. I see AMD has driver files for the Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU, which I’m using, but nothing about either of them being a chipset. Common sense tells me it’s the Asus drivers, but as I’ve already said, I’m confused. Help, please.

    • @ThisBytesForYou
      @ThisBytesForYou  5 днів тому +2

      The chipset comes from AMD, so for example, for your board, you will get them from here: www.amd.com/en/support/downloads/drivers.html/chipsets/am5/x670e.html
      I missed downloading them from the website, even though you see me doing one thing in the video, I am doing 3 thousand all at the sametime, its hard to keep focus when you are doing so much.
      Downloading it from Asus' site is fine, just from AMD's its typically newer.

    Hi, I have a question related to thermal paste. Is it better to use the thermal paste on the liquid cooler or should i get a better brand like artic thermal paste?

    • @ThisBytesForYou
      @ThisBytesForYou  6 місяців тому +2

      Use what it comes with, and see how well it performs, if its too hot, then change it up. Just because the thermal paste says its Arctic, doesn't mean it's better than what this comes with, who knows, I know arctic does make great stuff, but there was a point they didn't make the best, and they worked themselves to make the best, who knows about this thermal paste, I hope to tell you soon.

      The package content reads "(pre-applied thermal compound)" so you are good. I don't see anything to be peeled off, at least in the manual, the thin gray patch is the thermal paste.
