  • WYE VALLEY AND FOREST OF DEAN WALK FEATURING ST BRIAVELS, OFFA’S DYKE PATH, THE HUDNALLS AND HEWELSFIELD
"St Briavels, the Hudnalls and Hewelsfield”
    Filmed 28th August 2018
    Post-production completed 17th May 2019
St Briavels is another village I have known from childhood, so I decide to return to this lovely village to explore it again. My walk from St Briavels takes me along another section of my favourite long-distance footpath, Offa’s Dyke Path, this time through the wonderful and secluded countryside known as the Hudnalls. As my walk nears its end I visit the most tranquil and peaceful village of Hewelsfield…..
Filmed in the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean in the county of Gloucestershire. Locations include St Briavels, Offa’s Dyke Path, the Hudnalls, St Briavels Common, Triangle and Hewelsfield. This is part of the series of films shot in 2018 celebrating 25 years of “The Solitary Rambler”.
Written, researched, directed, camera and sound, edited and music by Patrick Leach.

Hi Patrick! Everyone "believes" in something whether one chooses to acknowledge it or not. As I view your creative videos depicting the beauty, diversity, and intricacies of nature, I see the Creator Designer and His Beauty! My mind and Spirit are filled with wonder and thankfulness. I choose because I am free. I am not a puppet of nature, because I am not made only of physical matter! I have a Spirit, and I now have God's Loving Spirit in me. Man was created in God's Spiritual image! We fell away and have caused many problems for ourselves. Even the best of us fall into despair and inequity at times....but God Loves us and is always calling us to Himself in a one-of- a- kind personal way back into His Unending, Unconditional, immeasurable Love! Your eye for creative film making and your musical talent and skill are first from Him and developed by you! May your mind, heart, and Spirit be opened to giving Loving Father another look or research! Those beautiful cathedrals they give glory to God in their majestic architecture! God Bless You Patrick to Know His Love For You in Christ Jesus!

I must have felt your thoughts Frank and Lee, so here was my film. Knew you'd like the churches, especially Hewelsfield where the silence is so wonderful you can hear a pin drop. Hope to be able to share another film again before too long. All the best Frank and Lee. Cheers, Patrick :)

This is a great episode Patrick and wonderful piece of filming!
The views of the valley and forest are lovely, as is the music - especially the part when you enter the Hudnalls.

Great to see you back Patrick, really enjoyed that,as I have every one of the previous 111.
Loved the castle, and I agree completely about the churches, like you I'm not religious but always seek out the village church,(and pub),some beautiful old buildings and stained glass, and stories, for a small village it was nice to see a defibrillator at the gate too.
Hope you are able to get out this year and do some more walks, thanks for sharing, keep well and stay safe
    Pete.

Thanks Pete, still a lot to catch up on but glad to have finally got this one completed. It was indeed nice to find a defibrillator at Hewelsfield church gate, they pop up all over the place now. Thanks again for watching Pete and for commenting. Cheers, Patrick :)
