👍
Great film as always Patrick !
I lived in Mitcheldean for many years as a child. I used to cycle around this area as a child. One day my brakes failed on the steel hill and I hit the car in front of me at speed. Bent my wheel so a long walk back to Mitch. Oh happy days.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for your great comments! As long as you only bent your wheel and not yourself! Thanks for watching 👍
Wow what a beautiful place it’s a place I have wanted to visit now after watching your video I have got to book a holiday around the area
Yes this is the hotspot of the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean, but certainly worth visiting 👍
A beautiful area, I'm biased as I grew up in Gloucestershire, Cheltenham to be precise. Never visited this area though. But there are beautiful places all over the Forest and the Cotswolds. Thanks for sharing Patrick. Psst Don't pay the ferryman.
This is my old stomping ground as I was born in Gloucester and grew up in Chepstow, so knew this area well back in those days. Not so familiar with the Cotswolds, but went there a few times in later years. Cheers Chris 👍
Thank you Patrick for bringing back some wonderful memories. I took a holiday at Symonds Yat 25 years ago and the weather was perfect. Walked along to the Biblins and over the bridge several times and climbed up to the lookout. Stunning scenery and a beautiful area for peace and quiet.
Thanks for watching Maeve, glad this brought back good memories for you. All the best. Cheers, Patrick :)
one of my favorite place to visit and have a walk around with my family and friends from different countries who visits me here in England , :-)..
Nice one, many thanks for watching 👍
Patrick, I have been watching your videos for about a year now and have greatly enjoyed them. The scenery is fantastic and you do a great job of capturing their beauty. And, your music is very soothing. I watch one of your videos almost every night as I wind down for bed. As an avid outdoorsman living in an equally beautiful part of the world (Tennessee in the US) I can really appreciate the Forest of Dean. I hope to see it one day soon. By the way, my Skipper ancestors came to America in the 1600's from Lincolnshire. Thanks again for your videos and do please keep them coming! Andrew in Nashville.....
Many thanks Andrew for your kind comments. Great to know all the work that goes into making these films is appreciated by those who see them. I hope you do get to visit the Forest of Dean one day, can't recommend it highly enough. Thanks again for your comments and for taking the time to watch. Cheers, Patrick :)
I was the postman for Symonds Yat West from 2005-08 . We are blessed in Herefordshire .
Lovely seeing and remembering the area so well known to us. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching 👍
Great video Patrick. To a degree, it reminds me of certain parts of the Peak District. I love it.
Glad you enjoyed it Jamie, Symonds Yat is a wonderful spot 👍
Beautiful. 💓 I will go there end of August for the first time. Guess it will be my favourite place too. 😍
I hope you enjoy it! 👍
i discovered this place today by chance, and you have made me realise i definitely need to go back!
Nice one, thanks for watching 👍
Thanks Patrick. Certainly a bridge with a difference!!
Yes it's cracking Del, isn't it! :)
I was at Symonds Yat this time last year and had to wait in crowd to be able to get near the lookout fence. It was so crowded. You had a lovely day for your walk.
This one is definitely my favorite (until your next one). Every bit of your footage is awe inspiring. A big thank you Patrick!
That's nice to know Richard, thanks again for watching :)
Patrick that was wonderful, all your films are amazing but I haven't enjoyed one as much as that in ages,I didn't want it to end,it could go straight to tv as it is,everything was perfect about it,the views the music the information, you're relaxed soothing presenting style that makes you think you're just talking to the one viewer,I will probably watch it again tonight,I'm so familiar with that Forest of Dean composition too,I love it.
I was in Croatia when I got the alert you had uploaded a new film and I wanted to wait until I came home to watch it and have looked forward to it,and it was my Saturday night's viewing, headphones on,a large cherry brandy from Dubrovnik, and I loved it,thank you so much, you have become a master of your art.
Brilliant.
Best wishes,Pete.
You are so kind Pete with all your lovely comments as usual. I'm so glad to hear how much you enjoyed this and that my "Melody of the Forest of Dean" is now familiar to you. It was a tune I used to hum in my head as a kid when I came to Symonds Yat, as well as other places in the Forest, for picnics with my family, so it's wonderful to know that this old tune has become a recognisable theme with others. Thanks again Pete and all the very best. Cheers, Patrick :)
Absolutely wonderful- thank you! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️🇦🇺
Thanks for watching :)
Great stuff , Patrick . As already intimated to you , I used to deliver for Royal Mail in Symonds Yat West and the Great Doward 👍
Yes I remember you telling about your Royal Mail background, nice area to have worked in. As you could no doubt tell from this I love it all around Symonds Yat :)
How i wish we had more hills and forests in Lancashire .....Patrick ... Loved the views and the Biblins Bridge ....Thank You So much for once again for sharing this most beautiful place with us All ...Kind Regards Frank & Lee...
Glad you enjoyed the views Frank and Lee, one day it would be lovely if you could ever get down to this area to see it for yourself. Thanks as always for watching. Cheers, Patrick :)
well done Patrick you beautifully capture nature's beauty. thanks for sharing
Thank you, much appreciated. Cheers, Patrick :)
Really excellent as always and what a bridge straight out of an Indiana Jones film. Loved the old fashioned river ferry and what views no wonder you love the place so much. Hope you have been coping well with the recent floods up there, see Lyme park took a battering such a shame. Thanks as usual for your top notch walks.
Yes Biblins Bridge does look like it could have been in an Indiana Jones film doesn't it. I've had no problems here with regards to the floods, it's been a few miles further north that's been more serious, i.e. Whaley Bridge. Thanks again for watching :)
Beautiful Filming and music Patrick - why you haven't been snapped up by one of the major studios is beyond me!
Your wonderful camera work, narration, editing, and lovely compositions are of superb quality. Keep up the great work my friend.
Wow, thank you once again Martin! 😀 I live in the hope that one day the right people may see these films, so you never know. Thanks again for all your kind support 👍
Brilliant. I always love seeing that area Patrick. I tell you what you made some mighty fine statements there. 'The best views in Great Britain.' It is a fine view! When you got to the ferry I remembered watching the same guy happily only a few months back. There's something therapeutic in it. As for the Biblins bridge I imagined what Paul and I would be like had we come across you. I know we would have stopped on the bridge and said, 'alright mate,' (in stereo). And talked enthusiastically about the area and probably your filming. Hey I got 1957 right! How about that? Well, thoroughly enjoyable. I trust you're well. Mark
Hey Mark, how you doing? Great to receive your wonderful comments as always. Yep that view is really something isn't it? This was the main place I used to visit as a kid with family from Chepstow for days out and picnics, etc. Never tire of Symonds Yat. So you met the same ferryman when you were in the area a little while ago? He was definitely a cheerful chappy, nice to hear him serenading us as he took us across! :) What a great thought that is of perhaps encountering you and Paul on Biblins Bridge, that would have been wonderful. And yes 1957 was the correct answer, at least that's what I found out during my online research anyway. Well always great to hear from you Mark. Hope you're well too. All the best. Cheers, Patrick :)
@@solitaryrambler I'm doing alright Patrick. Like you still out exploring. I resonate with your routes - that's forever there now. It simply won't go. As for the ferry man I was only watching him but it was calming. Yeah Paul would have liked you and we would have loved you together bro. It's what we were like. I like the 1957 - it goes back! Have a great week....
Nice one Mark, you have a great week too. Catch you up soon. Cheers, Patrick :)
Only just discovered you, ive not been into utube much just doing other stuff.Being a herefordshire lad I loved this, not been to that area for years. And not explored it enough it seems, inspired me to go there again and explore more. Nice channel subscribed 😊👍
Welcome aboard and thanks for your kind comments! 👍
BBC material patrick,very informative,great work :-)
Many thanks Jason, that's very kind of you! Thanks for watching :)
I love this, what is the music used please. Keep up the good work, I was born and raised in Monmouth
Many thanks for your kind words! 👍 I don't have a name for the music really, it's just the score I composed for this particular film, but here it is: patrickleach.bandcamp.com/track/symonds-yat-the-biblins-and-mailscot-wood
Where you were standing on Symonds Yat Rock is an ideal place from which to view Buzzards and Goshawks. On the opposite side of the viewpoint you can see the Peregrines during the nesting season. As you observed, you can see down to where you walked previously.
Yes I saw Coldwell Rocks from my Goodrich walk which I discovered are where the Peregrines nest :)
@@solitaryrambler Yes that's right. According to the information boards at the viewpoint, Victorian tourists used to be dropped off by boat immediately beneath the rocks and then walk up to the top. Amazing..... not sure I could manage it😀😀😀😀
A wonderful walk and beautiful part of the UK! It must have taken quite a while to cross Bilbins Bridge, with all the variety of shots and set-ups. 😃 I’m wondering if your walk coincided with the Wye Valley Walk. 🤔
Thank you Jean, I don't recall it taking too long to cross the bridge, but yes there were certainly lots of shots and set-ups. I would have walked a very short part of the Wye Valley Walk in this - it crosses Biblins Bridge and I would have followed it for a very short distance along the riverbank as far as the point where I turned off right along the track leading up to Mailscot Wood :)
Beautiful video, how long did this walk take you .?
Patrick, this is a particularly lovely video even by your standards. Could you let me know the approximate total distance on this walk as I would love to replicate it sometime this Spring or early Summer? Many Thanks
Many thanks for the kind comments again Andrew. If you look at the description below the video there are more details about the walk 👍
@@solitaryrambler 👍
I regularly share your videos with a friend who has asked if you have ever done a video tour of
Garstang
I don't think I've ever been to Garstang.
Wonderful a place I have been many times. I have question how do you do the filming with you in the shot are you using a drone or do you have someone working with you?
Yeah I've always loved Symonds Yat. Rather than me trying to explain here, I'll let you look at these if you get the chance as they give an insight into my film making:

@@solitaryrambler Thank you Patrick :)
There's a huge black panther that lives in this area
Oh wow that's really cool! 😀
Those keyboards, just trigger that unique association with your films, maybe you could upload a selection of your music with random stills ?
Thanks Julian, nice to know my music is appreciated. Not sure if I want to upload with stills, but thanks for the idea anyway! Cheers, Patrick :)
