    Got the base model. I can run Final Cut Pro with a web browser open with 20 tabs and have a VM running in the background and have 0 noticeable lag. Maybe the full spec model could process video a little faster but I'm good with this.

      I was thinking of adding only 32gb to the base model, do you think it would make of a difference?

    • @puredavi
      @puredavi 4 роки тому +8

      Antonio José I’ve had it for a few days and I’ve had my Sims game running while using Final Cut Pro with several browser windows open, with other applications such as Numbers, Calendar and Notes... I happened to only be using 11gb out of the 16gb of memory and no lagging at all. It did seem to get a lil hot but thee fans kicked in pretty fast. If you’re doing more than this at once then absolutely upgrade it but as for me, the base specs are prefect.

    • @ajrc1987
      @ajrc1987 4 роки тому

      Thanks for your advise. I use for work, mainly Final Cut but while I’m working, I normally only have final cut and Mail opened. I’m just reading from many sites that 32gb does not make much difference yet but thinking that I’m going to do video, idk. It’s 450€ more for the ram upgrade, pretty expensive in my opinion.

    • @stephenbrowne7598

      @@ajrc1987 When I use FCPX on my laptop I can get it using up to 11GB of RAM, I have also had Lightroom using up to 8GB of RAM and Photoshop using 5GB of RAM, so there are times when 32GB is needed if you are using all 3 programs at once.
      I did some stress testing with FCPX, Lightroom, Photoshop and then Chrome playing UA-cam videos as well as some MSword documents open and the laptop used about 29GB of RAM, so I think 32GB is enough for most people. 64GB would be overkill for most.
      32GB does make a difference though for using multiple high end programs, 16GB would bottle neck if you have all of those apps open and each would only be using 3 GB each.

Even though I am more or less a light user (making sheets for pupils/students, surfing, browsing, once in a while I am editing a video) but I always fared best with Apple buying hardware that is overpowered at the moment of the purchase but 5-6 years down the road... it pays off

      I have the 16” with i9 + 5500m 4gb. I’m putting together a video now, but I found a way in bootcamp to limit the CPU frequency, and it keeps the CPU/GPU temps at around 80c max even when playing demanding games like Red Dead Redemption 2. Windows can’t see the fans because of the T2 chip in the MacBook. You need to set a manual fan speed in MacOS using an app called macsfancontrol and then ‘restart’ into Windows, not shut down, and the fans will keep running at that constant speed for that part of the equation.

    Great video man!!, So for programming, virtual machines, and gaming. What the spec I need to take?
    I thought about 2.3Ghz i9, 32GB ram, and 5500m 4gb graphic.
    You think I need to improve to 5500m 8GB graphics?
    What about the CPU its worth upgrade to 2.4Ghz i9? and what about the ram to 64GB?
    I'm really confused because you can't upgrade after you order the MacBook pro.
    Thank.

      i personally was thinking on just upgrading the graphics card to 8gb on the base i9 ( 1tb 16 ram )
      im currently on a windows with 16 of ram, 4gb video, i7U(dual core) 1tb DD and im not complaining for backend and even some small front end.
      but i can see im lagging behind when i need to build large frontend codebases.
      chrome and VSE eat a lot of ram but im used to be cautious of how i use my resources.
      ( i use the ipad to play videos and stuff that i dont need to run on my main )
      would be nice to have 32ram but thats a resource i can manage by myself by being conscious of what i run

      I've been using my 2015 MBP 15" 2.5Ghz I7. bought the 2.3 Ghz, 64GB Ram, 2 TB... Battery only lasted 3 hours just using safari. Not sure if it was a bad computer or not... Returned it. Also, I didn't notice anything spectacular as far as speed.

    So I made a smart decision of buying the base model with just upgrading the 8GB GPU and to 32GB of ram on the base model. Don't waste money on anything else, 512GB I'm more than enough for installing a bunch of apps, everything else can go on external SSD's.

      Think that I am going for the same config. i7, with 32RAM, and 8GPU...enough for the future....don't need the super super fast i9, but RAM& GPU....better to be generous..right? thx for your feedback.

    We are testing two new 16-inch MacBook's before doing a rollout across our organization. Under low loads (25% cpu utilization), fan noise will get annoyingly loud. We're not doing any GPU related and more routine work such as: using web applications, debugging web pages, Microsoft Teams conferencing (audio/video) with a handful of people, Photos downloading from iCloud, Mac Mail downloading a new mailbox from Exchange.
    We DID NOT notice this on our 2015 MacBooks and this might prevent us from continuing the 16-inch MacBook rollout in our organization.
    Interested to hear others experiences.

    You always say that the graph card is so important in the final cut X differents tests, but the 64 rams must have much importance to. What do you think?

    How much difference will the performance be reduced by 20 percent today when comparing the best specification CTO with the best basic 16GB/5500M 4GB model?

    I get that most people aren't going to understand or care about the role that each piece of equipment is going to play tasks like video rendering, animation (2D and 3D), photo editing, and such; but I would still appreciate it if reviewers would take the time to provide an extremely brief explanation what each test is doing in the systems being tested, and why the upgrade is going to impact the test. Telling people that a better graphics card is going to improve render times for Animators and Video Editors isn't accurate; that's a CPU issue, and the performance of this particular CPU isn't overwhelming. The performance shown in this video should tell artists that Apple simply isn't selling them a very powerful laptop.

      General rule of thumb: if you don't already know you need a maxed out i9, then you don't need it. If you need really heavy processor power for video and photo editing, you are better off getting a desktop to go with a lower-spec laptop.

    pure on $$ vs performance it still seems the base model is much better value (not to mention you get all the same non-performance based hardware - screen/speakers/keys etc). Really if you're paying another quarter of the base price on top you should get more out of it imo.
    I'm happy with my base model anyway.

      yeah i think base is the way to go. in 2 or 3 years the newer MacBooks will be again 25-50% faster then the best mbp today. I don't think its worth for a few sec in rendering to max out this laptop. .

    Back then Apple brought new features because they are life-changing. Now they make new things such as touch bar for the sake of marketing a new product for sale.
