  • In this video, I walk through the steps to install a dash (window) cam and wire to the available outlet in the center console.
You only need minimal tools for this installation:
    Interior trim removal tools.
    7mm small socket and wrench
Drill and bits (for drilling hole for cord)
    Dash Cam:
I am using the COOAU 1080P FHD Built-in GPS Wi-Fi Dash Cam on Amazon.
However, you can use any similar windshield/suction mounted dashcam.
    Trim Removal tools:
I am using the AURELIO TECH 4pcs Panel Trim Removal Installer Pry Tool from Amazon.
This should apply to following model years:
    2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017

Great tutorial! I followed it to a 't' and everything is working great! For the end that gets poked through the drilled hole in the plastic at the end, I did not have a USB plug, I had a whole cigarette adapter to push through. So my one wish is that part would have been the first part of the video so that I would have been able to push the small end through a smaller drilled hole. But I wasn't gonna undo my entire wire concealing job just for that, so I just drilled a bigger hole. FYI the dremel with cut-off wheel worked beautifully for making the hole incrementally bigger to get my adapter to fit through.

So I've been looking for something like this mine's a 2011 that I hardwired it into something underneath the center console up in the roof but it doesn't always turn on and off like I'd like it to but I don't have that center console connector where you're at I have one in the cubby.

wish they'd just add a "hot on start" usb outlet right on the ceiling in front of the rear view mirror or something to avoid all this bullshit of hard wiring to fusebox or center console. Is it that hard for manufacturers to add it up top?

True. As dashcams become more popular, maybe they will add a connection by the mirror.

You could just used the fused box and have it stayed powered while the vehicle is off
