So basically, anyone who doesn;t agree with your beliefs is an enemy. No worries, Hitler, Stalin , Napoleon, Kim Jong Un and all the other dictators thought the same way. Christianity is therefore demonstrated as an intolerant, adversarial and dictatorial. It views all those outside it;s belief system as enemies to be crushed.

I once asked an Atheist a question about evolution and sexual organs and her first sentence was "Well scientists havent yet discovered it". I replied "That's like when Bible believers say "God says it, that settles it". She didnt like my saying that to her. I also told her about the difference between anisotropic gems and isotropic gems, how scientist only discovered the difference in the last 10 years, which she found quite interesting,
Then i said, the 12 gems on the Aaronic priests breastplate had only anisotropic gems, not any isotropic gem among them, and that was about 2500 years ago, when they didnt have any instruments to slice these gems to discover that the isotropic gems, when light is shone though them (a diamond is isotropic), dont produce anything but a dark shadowy black. Whereas, every anisotropic gem, when sliced thin, and has light shone through it, well, the light shines through and produces brilliant colorful and patterns.
She could see what I was getting at...and didnt like hearing about it. No one like to have cherished beliefs 'tested'. No one. For different reasons.
Arrogance has been the death of science. Humility can resurrects science 😇

The creation story in Genesis is written from God's perspective, in terms of His days-"evening and morning". God created man's 24 hour days on His day 4. Evening means God rested from His work to let what He started to complete and morning means to begin another faze of creation, which could take millions or billions of man's days: "to God a day is a thousand years and a thousand years could be a day". The Bible does not contradict what is observed in nature, only men who don't understand God's word contradict it.

Hi pleasant good day brethren. It seem strange that you would use the days of creation and not fully appreciate the importance of the 7th day which contains Who created, what he created and that he blessed and sanctify it. The Remember also comes before it as a reminder that at some point we may forget. Not it being said of the first day that it's the sabbath and will with the new political administration be instituted as the solution to quell climate change which I dear add is a fabrication of man to institute Catholic doctrines to a protestant nation. Sunday is their ecclesiastical mark of power as they claim. Then why from the biblical aspect you all as a church refuse to keep God's Holy Sabbath. The Sabbath is a day of rest that symbolizes God's eternal rest and the completion of creation. It's also a reminder of God's deliverance from sin and a foretaste of eternal Sabbath rest in the new heavens and earth. God's word is immutable and like God cannot change.

"God's word" is simply invention. There is zero evidence that anything is god's word, since there's zero evidence for god. You first have to prove god, then we can talk about what he says, or what he thinks (today, it's people deciding what god says/thinks).

@@johnelliott5859KJV is the best, but it’s old English is already a challenge, which is what has caused so many different opinions, what people need to do is research each chapter to see why they translated it the way they did. For instance rapture is not in our English bibles but would have been a perfectly appropriate word. Harpazo(means to be snatched away instantly) our bibles translated it to caught up! The best four English bibles are the KJV, ESV, NASB, and NKJV. Personally I use the ESV and KJV side by side with a concordance and bible dictionary. I still recommend reading the Bible like you would read any other book. Cover to cover. Pick certain topics to study on the side at the same time. I recommend you starting with Mathew and John, then Daniel, Ezekiel, Isaiah, then revelation then go from there.

Second, don't put a burden on someone else for a project YOU think that OTHER person should do. If you think so strongly that Ken Ham needs to build this monument, then pray that God would put that on Ken's heart. He'll listen to God. But he should never listen to someone telling him what we think he should do. He can think on it, pray on it, and bring it to God, and let the Holy Spirit burden him for said project ... or allow the HS to burden someone else.

1:6-8 describes a vault or firmament that separates the "water above from the water below". If you remember science class, you know that clouds are made of water, and that there is a layer of atmosphere that separates them from the earth. Now, if you're a Jewish sheep herder who has never been in science class, how would you have any concept of what an atmosphere is, or even be entirely sure that clouds are made of water and don't just create water when it rains?
Genesis 7:11 describes "the fountains of the deep", which at first seems like the writer completely made up some primordial water reservoir to flood the whole earth, except that there are in fact oceans under the earth's crust. Again, how would these sheep herders know anything about that?

    I am an advocate of CHRISTIANITY 100% and I teach the 5 FUNDAMENTAL BELIEFS of the CHRISTIAN FAITH, namely ;
    1) Scripture is the INERRANT WORD of GOD
    2) Jesus is FULLY MAN and FULLY GOD
    3) Belief in the HOLY TRINITY; FATHER, SON, and HOLY SPIRIT
    4) CHRISTIANS are SAVED by FAITH ALONE
    5) Jesus was born of the VIRGIN MARY, suffered and died by CRUCIFIXION under PONTIUS PILATE, and on the THIRD DAY JESUS ROSE from the DEAD both in BODY and in SPIRIT.
These are fundamental to our faith and none of these have anything to do with the AGE of the EARTH.
My fellow CHRISTIANS, before you embrace YOUNG EARTH CREATIONISM as an integral part of CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIAN thought, ask yourself what is KEN HAM and his followers teaching? Ken Ham will raise all kinds of objections to Science and even fellow believers that understand Science and deep time. It all boils down to how KEN HAM defines Science and his WORLDVIEWS and both are FALSE.
    Allow me to explain...
Science doesn't come in two flavors as Ken Ham teaches. There is no such thing as SECULAR SCIENCE and CREATION SCIENCE. This is 100% false and ill explain. Science is a METHOD, a series of STEPS to be adhered to and it leads to a better understanding of GOD'S CREATED MATERIAL UNIVERSE and GOD'S LAWS of PHYSICS. Everyone may practice Science regardless of their WORLDVIEWS!
Reject YOUNG EARTH CREATIONISM not because of KEN HAM'S fancy interpretations of GENESIS, reject YOUNG EARTH CREATIONISM because it is built on a foundation of UNTRUTHS.
My biggest concern now with YOUNG EARTH CREATIONISM is, does KEN HAM and his followers UNDERSTAND their FOUNDATION of their WORLDVIEW is FALSE?
CHALLENGE YOUNG EARTH CREATIONISM not the BIBLE or GENESIS. Its OK if CHRISTIANs disagree on how some Scripture is Interpreted because almost no CHRISTIANS believe ALL THE SAME THINGS after all.

*The Enuma Elish would later be the inspiration for the Hebrew scribes who created the text now known as the biblical Book of Genesis.* Prior to the 19th century CE, the Bible was considered the oldest book in the world and its narratives were thought to be completely original. In the mid-19th century CE, however, European museums, as well as academic and religious institutions, sponsored excavations in Mesopotamia to find physical evidence for historical corroboration of the stories in the Bible. ***These excavations found quite the opposite, however, in that, once cuneiform was translated, it was understood that a number of biblical narratives were Mesopotamian in origin.***
*Famous stories such as the Fall of Man and the Great Flood were originally conceived and written down in Sumer,* translated and modified later in Babylon, and reworked by the Assyrians ***before they were used by the Hebrew scribes for the versions which appear in the Bible.***
***In revising the Mesopotamian creation story for their own ends, the Hebrew scribes tightened the narrative and the focus but retained the concept of the all-powerful deity who brings order from chaos.*** Marduk, in the Enuma Elish, establishes the recognizable order of the world - *just as God does in the Genesis tale* - and human beings are expected to recognize this great gift and honor the deity through service.

DiMattei is firmly in the 19th century German school and clearly a disciple of Bultmann. His worldview is secular - agnostic and both his scholarship and its conclusions flow from this starting point.
It has long been known that there are some parallels---some---between the Bible's narrative and what is found in some other ancient cultures and writings. So what? Despite the assertions of humanistic scholars, this does not mean, ipso facto, that either 1) the Bible authors plagiarized these stories or 2) that the Babylonian or other writings predate the Bible. They might, or they might not. Further, there are other ancient writings that have survived to come down to us in the present day which closely parallel the Bible's narrative, particularly regarding the global flood. Perhaps these partially echo the Bible's full and correct version of events rather than the other way around?
Regarding differing points of emphasis among the OT prophets, again: so what? Maybe they were, gee I dunno, each talking about one or another aspect of the character of God? You know, taking one at a time?
This sort of secular reductionism and deconstructionism has been around for a very long time and it is nothing new. As Bultmann and others of his ilk occasionally admit, the real issue is their a priori materialism and its accompanying assertion that a prima facie reading of the Bible, particularly as history, is intellectually untenable. No, it is not. As Alistair McGrath notes in his book, "The Twilight of Atheism", the arguments in favor of God and the Bible are at least as good as those that stand against them.

@@jockyoung4491 there is evidence of lots of things that are not true. That is a large reason we have courts. What I "want to believe" is truth. The problem many people have is that our Creator has spoken the truth AND explained that he glories in fooling the wise. The same God who designed DNA for every living creature, also designed creation to allow anyone who wants to deny God to have a path to follow to their own end.

      Fantastic.
One family survives a flood, and the first civilisation - the ones that document the flood in The Enuma Elish and Epic of Gilgamesh - write it down. One family.
Then, as the generations pass, the other offspring family members are told about the event, and write it down - generations continue recording the event.
"Many stories in the ancient world have their origins in other stories and were borrowed and modified from other or earlier peoples. For instance, many of the stories now preserved in the Bible are **modified** versions of stories that existed in the cultures and traditions of Israel’s **older** contemporaries." Yep, they recorded, and documented the same facts - and thy were labelled as artifacts - hint the clue is in the word - FACTS written and recorded in ART.
Thanks for validating the Bible, unwittingly.

Actually, the Bible does claim to be the word of God. In Timothy from the Bible:
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (KJV) 16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
