    I've been using the AB-5000 Adjustable Zero Gap Bench from REP Fitness in my home gym and Commercial Gym for nearly 3 years. When it first came out, I immediately ordered it and I've been using it over that time period for the obvious things like bench press, rows, and incline curls, but also box jumps, box squats, and more.
    The REP AB-5000 and the AB-5100 both offer some unique qualities, but the ability to adjust the seat bad so there's no gap, is definitely well liked amongst the home gym community.

    Waited months for this to come in stock, and it was completely worth it.
    Although not designed for it, if you flip the leg roller attachment upside down when the bench is flat, it can be used for Nordic curls as well.

      That's exactly what I do! I place a small piece of foam under my knees for more comfort (Rogue's Abmat Hip Thrust Pad). I also tie down a strap between the upside down attachment to the olympic bar above it (resting on my rack), so I can get band assistance from the bar to my body/neck area. The strap prevents the bar from "escaping" and falling off the J-cups (and landing on your ass lol).

    I use the bench gap to know where I’m at for my bench press or skull crushers. Similar to the rings on a barbell.

    👍👍👍 I've owned this bench for around 1 year now; It was a great decision. The only slight drawback is as Coop said, it's a little heavy at ~ 120 lbs. I stand it up in the squat rack after each use. I bought it because of the zero gap but also because a lot of my benching is decline. The decline takes a lot of stress off the shoulders and concentrates it on the pecs; I've made greater progress since I added in decline bench & no problems with my shoulders after several decades of benching... I definitely recommend this bench to anyone contemplating it.

  • @RGrizzzz
    @RGrizzzz 3 роки тому +1

    Fellow first batch owner here as well. I love the bench, but do have a few minor gripes. Some of the screws/bolts have come loose. I found one on the floor. Some Locktite would have likely helped prevent that issue. I also agree about the tolerances. When the bolts had loosened, there was more play in the back pad. The angle arm that goes through the supports for the back pad was rubbing upon adjustment as well. I'd like to see some UHMD or plastic spacer in that gap, so it's not metal on metal. Other than those nitpicks, this is a great adjustable bench. And watch those fingers when adjusting with the leg rollers on!

    The comment on the “pop pin is more secure compared to a ladder bench” is debatable. The gym I go to uses Legend incline benches (no slouch in quality) and the pop pins are f-d. The pin doesn’t fully go through the securing hole properly. The user is at the mercy of the alignment of the pop pin to the adjustment frame. I’ve selected an incline option once, and leaned back and, BAM, fell into a flat bench position - pretty dangerous. I’d feel safer with a ladder system, personally.

    • @turtlepowersf

  • @cameronbatko
    @cameronbatko 3 роки тому +2

    I have the zero gap and really like it. It is so heavy and stable where I can bench incline or use it for other various incline movements or cable work. I was surprised how solid it is. My friends even commented on how solid it was when working out. Now currently idk. Since REP has increased their tolerances limit and people have been reporting issues with alignment and crooked pads. At that premium price I would not want to worry that it would be sub par. They are getting into rogue prices with worse quality than Titan.

    Decline is the best option for bench from a bodybuilding standpoint. You get more activation overall and moving in the direction the shoulder wants to move in during horizontal adduction.
    Seriously for all of you who can’t seem to make gains on their chest. Do things like decline dumbbell or extreme decline dual cable press and stop wasting time with the barbell unless your training specifically for the bench press.
    Ditch the incline for front cable raises (great stimulation of clavicular pec major fibers as well as matching the strength curve for anterior deltoid)

    Zero Gap owner here, yeah its a bit unwieldy with the weight and the way the handle is designed but that issue is negligible and it has absolutely ZERO movement when using it, its a tank and I love the thing. I prefer the "pin pop" design because you know its locked in and hell, you can even drill more holes if you really wanted that perfect angle I would imagine. Regardless, the zero-gap function is a game-changer IMO.

      Rep is more commercial grade construction. Ironmaster is more versatile, easier to use, better fit and finish, and made in Taiwan instead of China. Also Ironmaster's narrower bench is better for dumbbell work while the Rep's wider bench is better for flat bench. Ironmaster offers the wider hybrid bench for $70. I'm leaning heavily towards Ironmaster.

    Pros:
    Costs - You will not find a better FID bench at this price point. Lets say compared to Rogue's AB-3 and Prime's Adjustable Bench (with decline attachment).
    Options - You can purchase the wide pad for this bench; Different colors if you want color coordinate your gym.
    Ordering is seemless. Consumers prefer to order things through websites rather than talking over the phone or email.
    Easy to store away. You can just lift the front part of the bench and can be easily tucked away, saving space in your area.
    Cons:
    Bench is heavy so to move around in a home gym isn't great. Also, for how heavy it is, when I do decline work, it isn't as stable as competitors.
    Pad is too grippy (personal preference). When I ever do dumbbell bench work, my scapula grips too much that it interferes with the movement, making my dumbbell chest exercises moot (which is what i bought it for).
    Pad is too long (personal preference). Since home gym owners are trying to make use of the space, is it necessary to make it that long? Shoulder press work isn't great since our head is blocked by how long the bench is.
    Tripod feet (personal preference). When I'm trying to bench, I try to dig my feet into the ground. However, the bench front foots interferes with it.
    All in all,
    It's a great bench and I do like it. However, for an amateur powerlifter/bodybuilder, where I need to accessory work (FID dumbbell presses, decline situps, military presses, etc), I would have rather gone with Prime's adjustable bench.

    Unfortunately I don’t recommend them. At least not for commercial use.
    (Even though I have a small private gym I guess you can consider us commercial based on how much use our equipment gets)
    They don’t last. The parts especially the pop pins are cheap and poorly made. The stability is awful compared to the competition. I got ride of them. For my all purpose bench for incline and decline go with the Rogue AB-3.
    For a ZERO-GAP Heavy Duty Bench go with the Collegiate 0-90 Bench from Elite FTS!

    Could you review and compare it to the ntaifitness AB1 adjustable bench with leg extension,leg curl ,preacher curl and back extension ? Seems to be the best complete version of this bench but even cheaper.Thank you and awesome video 👍🏻

    $100 plus the tax it adds. i decided without it and im happy with my decision. the only thing i wish the 5100 over the 5000 is the grippy pad. the zero gap comes with a grippier pad and the 5100 doesnt. its not slippery but its not the extra grippy pad that comes with the other pads. REP said when they come out with the grippy pad on the 5100 they will send me one but so far they havent added it to my model like they did to all the other models.

    Well I bought this bench. Upgraded from a cheap fid and we went all out. Totally regret purchasing the gapless version but whatever. It's overkill for me, but the last one I bought wobbles and I didn't want to regret another purchase. Hopefully it'll be the last bench I ever buy.

      Ok I'm 5'9" with a 28 inch inseam and carrying a lot of extra weight. You don't have to put your leg straight to the top, you can stand on the base then do it.
      I guess some body shapes might have problems but I can't imagine many worse than mine. I do usually hold the side of the rack for stability.

    • @PeteQuad
      @PeteQuad 3 роки тому

      I wouldn't as I'm sure to get unwanted attention. But I went in and took a look, it is all going to depend on how much of a decline you do. I often do 15 degrees and no one is going to have a hard time with that - the top of the pad is just 27 inches fun the floor. 30 degrees is 37 inches off and still reasonable. I would not do any more than that. Incidentally, the seat (where your head is in decline position) only declines by 15 degrees so going beyond that could be weird if you have a long torso.

    Gotta have a new adjustable bench? Then the REP AB-5000 ZERO-GAP is tough to beat! Otherwise, consider hunting down a used
    Power-Lift Lever Adjustable Bench (has patented, automatic, "zero-gap") or a CYBEX 5425 Adjustable Bench. I have both.
    NOTE: Both are commercial-grade, heavy, don't offer a decline option, or attachments - I have a Bodymasters Ab bench = not an issue.

  • @jasonbond3567
    @jasonbond3567 3 роки тому

    I'd like to see some of these companies come out with a half height back bench with attached foot plates in front a couple feet for leg drive specifically for doing seated overhead presses. Titan just released one but, as with most of it's V1 products, it looks to be a steaming pile of garbage. There are commercial versions I guess but they're expensive as hell. Maybe it could have an adjustable back height? Nah, that's a stupid idea...
