    I got a PR5000V2 this summer in large part because of the lat pull-down. The final decision was because it was roughly $1500 cheaper to my door and in less time with the delays Rogue had on the RM6 this summer.
    I also have the globe pull-up bar, and have been a fan but I think that’s just a personal preference. I find it easier to do hanging ab work than with a traditional bar. If you did want to have that flush front look, you could order an extra 41” cross member and then mount the “side-mount” globe.
    Overall, though I agree with the review and appreciate the openness about the rack and it’s shortcomings. I really enjoy the rack for my regular use, but have found some of the accessories to be not quite as high quality. The feedback on the jammer arms has convinced me to go with another brand if I ever decide to get a pair as well.

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  3 роки тому +1

      I think if I could do the pull up over again I'd get the arched one. Good call on that 41" crossmember. REP seems to do theirs like sorinex (which I get for ease of manufacturing) but I do like how Rogue specifically has top crossmembers that sit flush with the uprights, just a cleaner look IMO. Great rack though as all my gripes are likely things that no one else would ever care about lol.

    Excellent review. One thing I did for my belt squat attachment was to loosen up the bolts on the bottom crossmembers and the rear stabilizer. This allowed me to do two things; 1) to widen the distance between the uprights to have 41-1/4” + for the belt attachment to fit, and 2) to move the crossmembers up so the holes for both belt attachment and crossmember to align.

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  3 роки тому

      Right on! For me it's not so much the width, but the overall design. I get they wanted to incorporate the mountains, but it's not functional and some wheels or a top prop would have gone a long way.

    Thx for the overview. Very happy with my PR-4000. Can live without the gigantic hardware, numbered holes and the logo name plate. For my purpose the functionality is the same at a lower price. Plus it was in stock. Also this sucker is sturdy as hell as a 4 post 30” without bolting down and just the lat/row attachment.

    The main reason I won’t ever get a Rep rack is they won’t let me build one and order it like Rogue does.
    I’m not going to try to play the game of trying to fight with everyone else and scramble just to get a rack.

    Why will REP not allow pre-orders? I want to order the PR-5000 93” in stainless steel with quite a few add ons. I know it’s not currently in stock, but I would like to be able to put all the items together and pay one shipping cost when they are all ready instead of paying multiple shipping costs by piecing my rack together like I’m rummaging thru a salvage yard. An excellent video, as always from Brandon! As a French, and more globally a European, every time I see such a setup I am very jealous of the strength stuff available in the USA. In Europe, not only it is more expensive, but also the offer is VERY MUCH lower that the one you have in the US. People like you or Coop would become crazy is you had to cope with this 😭. In the upper segment, we solely have rogue (at 1.5/2x the price that the Americans pay, i.e. overpriced) or ATX (German company, more or less an equivalent of REP). I can't wait for REP to finally come to Europe! Happy lifting to all of you 💪

I only do the basic compound lifts, squats, deadlifts, bench press, standing press, and barbell rows. I plan to purchase few if any attachments other than the stabilizing front feet that both companies offer. You have reviewed / owned both. If you had to choose, which one would you go with if the difference in price is not an issue. Thank you for this very helpful and informative video. Three things I want to see concerns the lat tower attachment. 1) is how deep can the bench be pushed into the rack with the lat tower? 2) is can one lay on the bench and do lat rows? 3) is to do a lying row, can you pullstraight down or do you have to pull down and out/towards you? I'm 6'9" and I do antagonist supersets. So if I do a bench press I follow with a bench pull using the lat bar and tower if that makes sense. This is pretty critical for me. I know I can do other varieties to compensate but I find this streamlines transition time and keeps me working the same plane. Sorry for the book but I'm looking for specifics.

    Hey Brandon - One thing that I wish you had talked about and shown more of in the review is how it’s 41” inches wide vs rogues 43”. I take it that you mostly just used this rack for the attachments and didn’t squat and bench much in it? Rep responded with: “What the +8.9" is referring to includes both the uprights and footplates for your overall floor space depth. So the uprights are 3" x 3" square tubes (so 3" + 3"), plus those foot plates welded on the very bottom adds just a little bit more (total of 2.9inches, or + 1.45in x2 between them both) of extra length to your overall floor space dimensions. You may be able to mount a crossmember lower on one of Rogues 2 taller racks to avoid the height issue, but then you have to remember Rep racks are 2" narrower than Rogue as well. I would think the solution here would be to ditch REPs stabilizer and buy another Rogue crossmember to mount lower but I'm not sure if the holes would even line up at that point either. That then also puts the unit more forward since REPs is angled back some to allow for more room in the rack, which would then cause the top mounting piece to now not line up with it's crossmember.

    I can't understand why these companies don't sell a set of smaller/larger UHMW pads for their attachments so they fit perfect on their competitors racks. I get that Rogue likely would never do that, but the import ones you would think would be a slam dunk. I also don't know why Rogue doesn't put any UHMW on their attachments as well, I'm probably going to put import stuff on my Rogue rack just so it doesn't beat the heck out of the uprights.

      In speaking with REP at least, they view themselves as a direct competitor to Rogue. They'd prob prefer people buy into their complete ecosystem.

    Thanks for the review. For the lat pulldown/row attachment, does this affect the ability to bench (flat and incline) inside the rack? Some videos, it looks like the bench can't get deep enough in the rack due to the row portion on the lower rear of the rack. I have a REP AB-3100 bench that I'd be using.

      @@BasementBrandon Thanks. Due to my space, I wouldn't be able to bench outside the rack. I'll probably stay with my current setup (sml-1) and maybe get a separate lat pulldown machine

    I have been shopping for these. Rep 5000 v2? Or rogue monster? Ceiling is 94.5 inches.

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  3 роки тому

      Both will fit, think you need to see which width you prefer (rogue is 43, rep is 41) and which attachments you like better (like the lat pull down).

    Great review! Assuming you used the lat pull down and lever arms equal amount, would you go Rep with the better lat pull down and inconvenience of the lever arms? Or would you get a Rogue with a Slinger and the better designed trolley arms? I am trying to decide between these two. The Rogue Slinger is a major concern to me.
    Another option I am considering is the Rogue with Trolley arms and the Surplus Strength lat and low pulleys. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  2 роки тому

      So you could adapt the Rogue arms to REP a lot easier than adapting REP to Rogue. The slinger sucks and I would never recommend it unless maybe someone was putting it on a rhino. The Surplus Strength UPS is loads better in that regard as it can literally be mounted anywhere. The downside there is you still have to figure out how you want to load it. The REP attachment is the best of the 3 in that regard as it's fixed, has weight horns/guide rods. If it were me I'd price out all the options and see what made most sense financially while also giving you what you want (if made in USA is important, etc)

      @@BasementBrandon thanks for the feedback. The Rep pricing when you add all the accessories is a pretty big saving, especially with the free shipping they are offering. I am still considering Rogue because I know the quality is superior and of course USA.
      I saw on your gym tour you have a 30” rack with 24” plate storage. I have a RML3 welded that is 24”, I might just add some 30” cross members and uprights.
      Thanks again

      @BasementBrandon  2 роки тому

      @@HighSpinSwingSpeed If it's welded I would double check that you have the holes at the top and bottom open to add them. Some of them don't have spots for bolts to connect!

      @@BasementBrandon I will check... One more question... You mentioned on one of your videos that you don't really use the lever arms and they are generally in the way. Do you think if you did more body building training like seated rows, shoulder press, etc you would use them more? Thank you for all the feedback and support.

    You said the uprights are 92" the website says 93. Are they an inch short or did you make a mistake? Was thinking of buying 2 93" to bolt to my Titan to give me a little more height than my 90's

    Thanks Brandon! Excellent Review! Always great to hear out your opinions of different options! I am planning to purchase the Rogue RM-3 Monster Rack 2.0 as I do feel that 30” (like you said) is enough to do most home gym workout. However, I am interested in adding the REP Lat and Low Row Attachment to the Rogue RM-3, do you think the REP will fit onto the RM-3 properly? I prefer this Lat/Low Row attachment than the Rogue Slinger too - so I want to ask for your expert opinion if this would actually work before I make the purchase - Thanks Brandon!!! Looking forward to your reply!! Cheers Adrian

      little bit more play than on the rogue, but that can be easily fixed with some felt lining.

    Long time follower :). Strongly considering this w/ the Ares. Looking hard at the Rogue RM4 2.0 though as well and adding surplus strength attachments or Lat Row machine but space is limited so it'd be tight with rack + other machine. If space is limited (jealous of your basement lol) would you recommend the REP 5000 + Ares? Have the done any big updates since this review?

      I do not have the Ares, but from the looks of it, it could bang out a lot of good things in a really small footprint.
