Thanks! That’s definitely the biggest upside to using a can. It means you’ve got a nice flat surface to paint on and then you can shape it really easily when you’re done!
I'm definitely using this as a guide for my redemptor. Although I would probably use multiple cutouts of the can to form the flag and glue them together. I have the feeling that even with the paint and all, it's still too bendy. How have the flags hold on until now?
The ends of the flag (two points) are called swallowtails. The flag is called a triangle swallowtail pennant. I use wide rubber bands as my flags. No risk of sharp edges and they wave in the wind. Good job love the content
Love it chap!! How small would you go with this?? I'm trying to do a large purity seal type 'list' I've tried green stuff, move to paper and card, now I see this I wonder if it would work... (Talking about 5-7mm wide about 40-50mm long...?
@@SpensPainting good point cheers dude. Been into GW for 30 years and never made a banner! Need to make one for some undead skellies so doing the research!
@@BearGrisham it’s fine to touch but if you’re rough with it they do come off. One solution I found since making this was to cut the flag longer and roll a portion of it around the pole
@@SpensPainting Yeah I was thinking the same thing as I’ve recently bought a large roll of metal to make my own pennants and flags. Thanks for the video 👍
I'd wanting to use these to make some banners for both my Orks and Nurgle-corrupted Blood Angels
Sounds like a great plan! Please send me some photos if you do!
Going to use this for my Warriors of Chaos. Thanks!
When doing masking stripes, if you put a second and then third directly adjacent, you pull up the second and have the lines be perfectly parallel!
Thank you for the tutorial man! I'll definitely be using thie technique for my future project
Glad it was helpful!
Great video! I'll definitely making use of this. Thanks for sharing.✊
Very cool, the ability to bend them after painting looks particularly handy 😀

thats super clever!!!
Love this tutorial
Thanks!
@@SpensPainting would love a break down of your whole redemptor dreadnaught
@@TheSkullfort I agree! Please do the whole contemptor. It looks amazing
How durable are the flags the way you have glued them onto the pole
About as durable as any of the rest of a Warhammer model

Thank you for checking the video out!
They’re still on the dreads and still in the same position as when they were made 😊
@@SpensPainting that's good to know! I'll see if I have some cans laying around

thanks very much! And I think you could do that. When you first cut it the can will curl up if it’s thin but it soon straightens out
These are really cool and all but how long is their life span? Will they brake easily or chip paint?
I haven’t broken them yet but I’m pretty careful when moving my models so your mileage may vary
Can I ask what the advantagea of varnishing it before painting are?
It helps the paint to adhere to the can better 😊

How fragile is that flag? Seems like it would come off pretty easily if touched
