honestly bliz saying he's going to die alone and lona seeing him and calling him dad makes ep 2 s 2 make more sense. Blitz fear of dying alone and lona warming up to him fixes the tone shift. Edit: also if you look Queen bee has fly wings and makes a fly sound instead of a bee, its a nice little touch.
Your confusion about the context of that reaction between Vortex and Beelzebub had nothing to do with editing; your trouble was that you paused the sequence to ask about its context mere seconds before the context was provided by the story. As Archie Bunker would say, "Patience is a virgin." :)
