Colbor CL60 USB powered video light vs Amaran 60D LED

- Опубліковано 25 лип 2024
- A wonderfully inexpensive, small lightweight LED video light that's just as bright as the Amaran 60D but cheaper and with more features. It can be USB-C battery powered or by a V-mount battery or two NP-F batteries or AC wall power. Super quiet fan, modular design for stacking multiple lights, wireless and app controllable, this little gem is great for traveling and location work for photography and video, youtube vlogs etc because it's so small and lightweight. Of course getting it from China like AliExpress is cheaper than B&H or places like that.

Markus, one of the few UA-camrs that use "affordable" and "inexpensive" on things that are really inexpensive and affordable. Thanks
Theme of my channel will be focused around DIY, and cheap alternatives. As well as using old gear to record. I would love to hear what would you like me to record
Marcus is cheap after he spent money on everything
Right? So tired of hearing "budget" when discussing equipment costing hundreds or thousands of dollars. Marcus knows what is truly budget gear and shows it off in-depth.
Yeah i wonder about all those podcasters using the most expensive Shure SM7B microphone and talking trash. Markus has mor money than all, uses cheap stuff and his content is value for us.
When Markus release video, I click. Even when I am not on the market for any of the products he talks about, I come to see if I can widen my perspective by learning from his experience and sensible methods.
Markus, thanks for another enthusiastic review. No fluff and stuff. Straight to the point. I appreciate your affinity for portable lightweight gear.
Thanks, its a fun hobby
Marcus - I totally love your work and videos. Can’t even begin to tell you how much I’ve learnt. Your enthusiasm and confidence is addictive. My brand new Colbor 60m landed today. OMG! It’s absolutely stunning. Bomb proof build quality and super bright. One of my best purchases in years. Thank you so much for the review and recommendation. It is far too cheap for the quality. Keep up the great work
Markus, thank you for making this video. This is definitely something I need. I just ordered it. I truly appreciate you, your knowledge, experience and passion for photography. I’ve been following your videos for a few years now and I always find your content informative and helpful. You absolutely light up my life. Please keep making videos and enlightening us with your talent. 😀❤️👍
How awesome! Not needing any more lights, but love the style and connect-ability of these! Thanks as always Markus!
I love these guys, I own 6 of them and the glory of being able to hook them together is a amazing.
Still love them?
With it being so hard to travel (on planes) with lighting, I just never did it. Looks like I can travel with actual lighting! My on-camera flash has let me down so many times. Thank you again!
THANK YOU!!! These may be just the lights I've been looking for! My wife is a yoga instructor and we record and live stream her classes from an area in our home that's 8ft. wide x 8ft. high x 17ft long. Obviously NOT a lot of room to rig proper lighting. I've DIYed and cobbled together some fixtures from bits and pieces that are working and we've been getting by with that, but she deserves better so I've been looking for a way to up our game but still stay on our budget. As soon as I hit the comment button on this comment I'm heading over to Amazon to check these lights out. Thank you again for these videos! Without you doing them I would probably have never been aware of these little lights...
I love your knowledge and encouragement to people that love cameras. Your passion is obvious. Keep being awesome!
Dude this is the exact video I needed right now! Nice one and great work with all the detail and options!
Love these videos, great ideas to try. Plus you introduce gadgets that I wouldn't have even known existed otherwise.
Amazing how much LED technology has come and how small stuff is now. Thanks for the review Markus.
I love toys
Once again, you nailed it. I bought the Sony RX100 vii on your recommendation and have never regretted it. Needed mobile lights while in London for a shoot and stumbled across this. I was about to order the Amaran lights but like the Sony, glad I ordered the Colbor. Excellent bit of kit.
This is so informative and helpful! Definitely getting this little light. Appreciate you sharing!
i love this guys channel its so different than anyone else, it almost has an old school vibe to it like how photographers used to be in the 90s and 2000s
I love how Markus is so no nonsense and no bs.
Markus... thanks a lot for help me to decided what light to buy to illuminate the reception for weddings.. awesome review, straight on point
You know your stuff and give away your own experience and add real added value! You do not know how I apreciate your honesty! Thank you Markus!
I appreciate that!
Another excellent video - I appreciate your expertise, and all your videos.
Markus, your channel is ONE BIG SOLID for Photo/Video people like us! AND this is THE BEST LOOKING video in your entire library! (except of course the ones with Kara in them, ha) Well done buddy......well done!
Bo
It's always fun to watch you find something you like. Thanks for sharing.
Nice review Mr. Markus. It looks like a winner for the budget-minded. Thanks!
Thanks for the video Markus!!! It is actually a genius move for this light to use USB-C PD for external power!!!
Thank you for posting this! I love this light! I know have 3 of them! It was your recommendation that helped me make my decision
I like how it's not overly produced. Quickly turned out. Non scripted. Only thing I wish for is a purchasable wig so I can look like this guy
Markus, thanks for sharing another great discovery!
Thank you for the FYI Markus. Synco has been quite impressive. Nice quality and a diverse product line.
I wanted to comment that what I like about your videos is that you have a great DP helping you out! Cara makes the live video so much better than a typical UA-cam tripod and boring studio setup.
Thank you Jeremy. Yes we invented a new style' "Girlfriend Skakycam" It's great!
👋🏼Hey Markus! I notice a few days ago you surpassed 100,000 subscribers.🏆 Congradulations! 🎉I've been hoping you would achieve this milestone. In the past I was wondering how come you were only at 78k and yet you had such great content. Marina (Hot For Words) and our team studied the YT algorithm for years and still haven't mastered it. Clearly your formula is working. Keep it up! 🙌🏻
You did a great job presenting this product
I always enjoy your videos !
What the? These are the coolest lights I've ever seen. Thank you, Markus!
Thanks for the analysis of the lights, it has helped me to tell me 100%
As always, an honest review with all the information we need. Always fun, thank you Markus. And a new way to measure noise levels! "Cara breathes louder than this thing" Hope you guys stay happy and healthy for a long time to come.
...just when we were trying to decide on an inexpensive yet decent light. We were floundering,as usual-- Thanks, again👍
Flounder all you want, it only gets better with time 😊
WOW! Excellent! The best review and fantastic add-ons! Thanks!
absolutely amazing. thank you for doing all the hard research.
If you have limited space those lights will work wonders. Thank you sir!
Makes my heart happy to see that my hairstyle from high school is still cool! Of course I didn’t rock it as well as you…Great video my guy!
Nice light. Might get one with the stand. Thanks for sharing...
Love these. I just blew my budget on the stella pro lights. Which I am not sad about but dang these are nice, small and soooo affordable. Thanks for sharing friend.
I love practical you are. Thank you for all you do.
Just when I was getting ready to move on the amaran! Super compelling option for portable kit!
Both are good, you can't go wrong with either one
Your ideas are so helpful.
Excellent video! Bought the light! Thanks
Thank you Markus! It's our absolute pleasure.
You're the best we all appreciate you and your wife you guys are great it's nice that we get somebody who can test all the products because it can get very expensive to do that
Thanks for this video. That light is pretty cool.
Thanks for the review and sharing! finally a tiny, affordable, quite and USB-C PD (!!!!!) light! perfect!
I want to travel light too! Yay! Thanks Markus!
Well I have to get you and Kara to forgive me ... when I first saw your thumbnails I thought you were some GWC ... but now having watched several of your vids, you are sharing really helpful information especially for a beginner who wants to experiment. Thanks!
GWC? Geotechnical Well Construction? Global Weather Control? General Welfare Committee? Gross Written Commissions?
@@MarkusPix sorry, Guy With Camera
Markus best channel ever love all the gear. Stay safe on your adventures
Just awesome tipps & tricks. Love it!
if there ever was a ZERO BULLSHIT channel on UA-cam for photographers this would be it. Jesus Christ you deserve a lot more subs! I bought a Zhiyun molus.. WHAT A MISTAKE, the battery stopped charging in less than 2 weeks used it like 6 time in that duration. I was happy with the Amaran, I will try this out next.
Love that hot shoe / ball head hack... really good idea!
Great stuff as always
Great, was looking for something affordable. Thanks!
I want one! Thanks for the video!
Thank U! Great video, as usual!
Thanks for info Markus!
Nice Job !!.....Compact Lights that work, you can carry with you anywhere, and has V-Mount. A complete Studio in well under 20 lbs (including stands and umbrellas).
Thank you for this - Ive ordered one!!!!🙂
Thank you Markus…I m looking for affordable light and found your video ..❤️it
Great find! Thanks for the info.
thanks, looks amazing, just bought it
love this review. I'm happy with my purchase
Hi Marcus, you're the best!
LOVE how unpretentious you are, my friend. There’s ZERO BS here.
I love this channel so damn much
Now this is the perfect travel light!
Awesome lightning for product photography.
New Sub. Just stumbled upon your channel and love your perspective on life, after binge watching your videos last night. I have been wanting to level up my lighting but don’t have a ton of space in my bathroom for my shaving channel. This little guy might work well with a umbrella. I think I watched 15 videos last night in bed. Some of the contact creators on UA-cam just want you to buy the most expensive stuff that you really don’t need. You point that out very in pretty much every video. 👍 Thank you much
Welcome!
Price definitely went up since this video. Understandable
Good morning Markus good to see you :D
Thank you, Markus!
You are the best thank you for sharing this
When you showed us the modular capability of this light, my mind blew up. Even if the cost of the CL60 was more than the Amaran 60 it's still a better deal because of it's modular design. Stacking lights is super useful if you need more lux. CL60 being powered by USB-C is super useful. I can use the same power supply for my laptop to power this light. It's like the old saying of Murphy Law, If something can go wrong it will. The Colbor lights give you options when things go wrong.
Markus, I'm like you in that full daylight is the best and if you need CTO just gel it. That said, I really like their RGB offering. I love working with colored lights to enhance the backgrounds on indoor shots. Sure I could just gel it but haveing an RGB light saves me from having to pack and mess with jels.
Thanks Markus for doing the research so we don't have to blow a ton of money trying to figure all this out. Your reviews are better as many that I have seen online because you buy them all and compare. Then when something new comes out , you compare all of them again to see if they still hold up.
I like the RGB option very much. The problem is they the RGB model is out of stock everywhere. Rvrn the standard model is king of short supply. If you can get one of this beauties, get it fast 'cause who knows when they will be available and most likely the price will be getting higher. I ordered one yesterday (the daylight model) and maybe I should order one more.
Markus...you light up my life...
Peace be with you. Thanks for the video. I’m trying to decide on lights like these. All my studio and flashes are Godox. I’ve got to compare to Godox 100 light.
Love it!! Thank you!!!!🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
📌 Hi Markus, Thanks for another great video review. You currently show the Cobol in 2 videos and because this info is quite important for other prospective buyers, I'm posting this comment for both. I mainly bought the video light because of the USB option, because connecting it to a power bank seemed ideal to me. I already had enough video lights, but without a USB connection. However, no USB power bank works with the Cobol, because it turns out to be no ordinary USB. This is because it is a 20-volt USB connection and to supply it with 5.2 volts, you need quite a few amps. Fortunately I bought the model with a V-mount and I think I will buy a V-mount battery. These are quite expensive and that is why I have to look closely at which model it will be. A small disappointment perhaps, but fortunately there are many possibilities nowadays and there is a solution for everything. You will also lose your money if you are not careful. BTW it's great to see the enthusiasm of you and your beautiful wife. Because of this I have to watch out, because the temptation is great for me to buy too much. In addition, Amazon quickly increases prices after your video and the pricing in the Netherlands is already about 30% higher. Thank you for all your wonderful videos and tips. It always makes me very happy and it is a pleasure to watch. Warm regards from the Netherlands. 👍🏻🙋🏻♂️
Ooh ! That's nifty... Love it 👍😁
Yahoo I was waiting for your void to drop now my weekend is complete
Thank you Markus
I might have to buy a couple of these as gifts.
That’s amazing for the price! ❤
Stacking is super cool
I love these no BS, no clickbait reviews.
Excellent Vid! I’m actually using the Stella Reflexes but this is a great back up! Also Markus I recommend the Hawkwoods BP-98UX. It replaced all my v-mount batteries.
Yes those camcorder batteries are a great 14.8v source. What's your favorite way of mounting them to something
@@MarkusPix Don’t laugh. I literally just use a double c-clamp for now. I tried using a c-clamp with a quarter screw to ball head to a bpu plate but … they loosen over time. And when I try the clamp straight to a BPU plate it never aligns and still loosens… so right now I’m just double clamping them until I can find a more compact solution.
That's the problem with those BPU batteries, the'yre missing a v-mount. A CameTV mini 99 is almost the exact same size, has a v-mount and is half the price of those Hawkwoods and even comes with a cord loop to hang on light stands www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1607011-REG/came_tv_mini_99_mini_99_lightweight_battery.html/?ap=y&ap=y&smp=y&smp=y&lsft=BI%3A6879&gclid=Cj0KCQiArsefBhCbARIsAP98hXSuE6Z-Xs8u0K4YqK89XvLugBLtq0OklaZuSgeQKiY5pxx9SrIUmpMaAqs7EALw_wcB
@@MarkusPix excellent find! Ya that’s the exact problem. Almost no one makes decent mounts for them. Which is a shame cuz all my Sony gear runs off em. It is what it is. It’s so hard to keep up now everything is getting smaller cheaper and more powerful. So… now I have to look into these now lmao.
great info ... gonna get myself one, or two....
Great video thanks for sharing
Thankyou Markus.
You the MAN Markus!!!
Really nice stuff.hopenwe get this in India soon
Markus is a damn pirate finding treasures🔥
Ordered, thanks.
I love the idea of this light! Done to be compact and portable, not to mention various options in the same form factor: daylight, bi-color, RGB (yes, there is even that). With StellaPros I gave up for now after checking that their delivery might cost a chunk, if I will be even able to find the exact battery-powered version you have mentioned in the respective video, and now you show a light that costs about as much as DELIVERY of StellaPro alone! 👏 This is about 1/5th of the total cost. HOW. There might be a question how the power does compare between the two, even if with such a price difference it could be noticeably lower and still discernible due to other qualities.
The next video idea? Modifiers for this light, just like for AD200. The idea is to avoid using bowens, right? Just like with AD200. Umbrellas are a good way to go (for my AD200s I have myself minireflectors, umbrellas, and one minisoftbox for run'n'gun if necessary), buuuut maybe there is already something adjusted to the size of this light :)
Umbrellas are easy if you use the AD200 bracket with the umbrella hole
This light is amazing....wow sooooo small!
As usual great review☺️ can you tell us what are you using for hair light on this video?
