People seem to have a deep misunderstanding of how sponsorships works on UA-cam and are actually accusing me of breaking the law so today we're going to take another look at how sponsorships and reviews work both on UA-cam and on the channel.

How do y'all feel about sponsorships as they relate to reviews? Can a sponsored review be honest, or are they inherently untrustworthy?
All that's required ethically is full disclosure
And I have been hearing the same complaints since I was a little boy reading car and moto magazines back in the 70s and 80s
You can absiolutely be honest in a sponsored review. I do think it makes some skeptical when it is sponsored. But I also think you can tell when a creator is full of shit and just doing it for the money.
Just in general i think many people will be subconciously inclined to give a product more slack in a review when it was given to them for free to review and keep. Now, there is a long way between that and being full of shit about something just to please the sponsoring company. This is just my general opinion and in no way, shape or form related to you or your content.
Bill Burr does sponsees on his podcast the best IMO
The only time it raises alarm bells is when no negatives are raised, because NOTHING is perfect (except my wife, in her opinion). People can smell BS, so no point in going there.
Quickest way to ruin your reputation online? Fire the guy that got you to 1 million subscribers and then make a video about it..
I still won't watch yammie noob lol
LOL! 🤣
But has his channel ACTUALLY been negatively impacted? I mean obviously it was losing spite but viewership wise has that been hurt?
Go and touch grass.. yammie and spite are cool with each other so stop with the yammie hate ffs@@MarissaTheMuse
@@shayzadg sorry I couldn’t hear you with all that ball hair in your mouth, you’re talking to the wrong person. Idgaf about either of these dudes.
Quickest way to ruin your reputation online? Being named yammienoob....😮
So glad I have had that guy on "Do Not Recommend" for a very long time now... almost forget he existed, then you had to bring him up
Wdym? I don’t know what happened

@@Kai-Lo I could barely stand the jerk before he fired Spite because he was jealous Spite had more face time and was liked better...
It wasn't just the firing but that painfully awkward exit interview\hostage video having Spite announce his exit from the company. Huge Ahole move.
Man, I wish someone would offer me money for my credibility, I sure ain't using it.
lol!!!
I came here for law breaking not good morals and trustworthiness.
Kudos to Revzilla for once again supporting our favorite content providers.
But where’s my ballshaver?😂
As an up and coming creator, it's good to hear how others handle sponsorship deals. Thanks for putting this together!
For a lot of us in our 30s we are just sick and tired of being fed marketing bull crap. We started on the Internet being extremely cautious about online purchases and pretty much assumed everything was a scam. Fast-forward 30 years and there is such a science and entire sub industry of convincing people to impulse by things with zero credibility and unfortunately, these companies have so much money they can pay off so many people, even if they don’t get a glowing review just to have the product showcased net them a lot of sales. The major reasons I got off social media so many years ago is I was just tired of seeing ads constantly. I have a good friend that is hopelessly addicted to social media and the amount of dumb shit that he buys on the TikTok shop drives me crazy.
Imagine being in your 70's. I am and can't believe a damn thing I see on the internet.
@@jimt1240Lol, I was just about to comment with the same exact message about those of us in our 50s.

Funny how synchronicity’s happen. I just had a manufacturer reach out to me a couple days ago wanting to send me a free dash unit to review. It will be my first time receiving a product, given how small my channel is. They have no stipulations whatsoever other than for me to make a video about it. I think a good way to think about it is, treat your audience like a good friend. Give them all the facts and let them make the decision themselves. It’s impossible to remove bias because it’s a part of the human condition, but we can do our best to be honest and forthcoming. Thank you for the video and ride safe man!
I bought a kawasaki z 400 2022 because of your review and never looked back. Love this bike!❤. For being 70 years old it's been on my bucket list for along time. Thanks for your honesty.
I learned a long time ago that enthusiast journalism is, in reality, just an extended form of product promotion. They wouldn't be giving you their stuff if they didn't think that it would promoting sales of their product. They're obviously going to be more willing to give you stuff, if they believe that you are effectively promoting their products. That's nothing for you to be ashamed of. That's how it works.
Personally I'm entertained and informed by you. When it comes to my purchasing decisions, I'll make up my own mind, thank you.
Honesty is so important.
Thank you for making this video, this is something that i have noticed more and more on UA-cam. I have seen creators go from making good videos to being a 90% commercial video. Its sad seeing good creators be all about the money instead of continue creating content that put them in the place they are. Thank you for being fair, honest and open about your reviews and sponsors. continue making your awesome content and cant wait to see more.
It happens when a channel grows beyond being a hobby channel and the content creator quits their 9-5 job and starts making videos as their main income.
That gopro may be nice but that mount certainly sucks balls.
It's an excellent vibration damper for the phone, but I'm not sure why the camera is on it lol. It's meant to move.
I'm working on a mounting solution to eat out vibration, but this isn't it. I'll keep tweaking.
Another excellent Trusted Review from Spite's Corner. Keep up the good work!
And the Versys 650 still lives rent free in Spite's head.
LOL
He secretly loves it, he just hates that he loves it.
🎶BREAKING THE LAW🎶
Best karaoke song evah...
Great topic, Jake. There's an undeniable moral hazard when it comes to reviewing products you're getting for free. It's kind of interesting how little is said about it around motorcycling YT, compared to something like fragrance YT.
Really appreciate the Solar update as well! I'm selfishly hoping that works out.
They're sending a new controller and I'll be installing it and making a video as soon as it's in hand. 👍
I’m just flat out jealous that I can’t grow hair like you dude.
I just came off watching a review where the reviewer mentioned the same 3x items over and over again for 15 minutes, and I'm look dude, you haven't mentioned the suspension once on this 20K motorcycle except to say it has one. That rings alarm bells.
I think many 'Review' channels regardless of whatever they are reviewing will use the 'It's just entertainment' excuse to peddle garbage to its users. I think modern consumers really have to be critical of everything they see online and do as much research as possible before making purchasing decisions. Sociopaths online will peddle anything for a quick buck. That's not about to change even if laws get updated. Consumers need to use critical thinking.
chhers from Greece man !

Trustworthy and straight forward.
Your "This is what it is" and direct approach keeps winning you accolades snd subscribers.
😊
That camera on that stabilizer didn’t do anything but shake like know ones business. OMG, all the other cameras were great. But that camera facing you was horrible. But the video was very informative. Thanks for being straight about your product reviews.
I'm working on a solution. Vibrations are knocking out all my action cameras so I need to split the difference.
Don't sell your soul and waiting for spites makeup spinoff channel.🧐💅
I honestly think people make this a bigger problem than it actually is. The only way for brands to get their products reviewed is either by lending or giving the products to reviewers. And the only way reviewers can get their hands in such a big variety of products is if they are lended or given. That's just the nature of the beast.
Also, is very easy to tell when a reviewer is making an honest review or if he's just trying to sell you a product. An honest reviewer always tries to bring the pros and cons of a product, and even if there's nothing particularly bad to say about it they usually still nitpick on something. While reviewers who are just trying to sell a product usually talk like the product is the best thing since sliced bread.
Also is understandable that a reviewer won't rudely bash the crap out of a company who gave them access to a product to test out. Constructive criticism is still criticism, it's still a way to let viewers know the falts on a product but in a polite way to the company.
Everybody wins, the companies get publicity, reviewers get content, and we get reviews.
Some big youtubers have no problem lying to their community for free stuff. One that comes to mind is someone else hyping CF-Moto, ironically.
Hey Spite! Love your videos, all of your content feels super genuine and we can really feel your passion when we watch. Just one note, the amount of wiggle on the face cam when you use the quad lock mount is a little disorienting. Probabely has to do with how topheavy a camera is compared to a phone. I don't know if you have a fix or not but IMO it looks better mounted straight to the bar. Keep up the good work and thanks for not being a schill in your reviews, love that about you!
The Bingley Wheeler just bought a CF moto after riding it and loving it. Need to watch him very interesting his take on the way we look at bikes.
Pro tip: Never use hyperbole.
When someone, anyone starts to sing praise and over-inflate something to near to perfection, you know for sure they are lying and everything they say is to be put to question.
You have kinda slipped into that once but me and other people called you about it and you never did it again. Nothing is perfect and your opinion will always be flawed by the limits of perspective. So far, I have no issue with the way you present your content, nor do I have reason to say you are lying, though I disagree with several stances you have, but that's alright.
Also, completely agree with not doing something you openly dislike, its painfully obvious when you are doing something 'for the views', while I dont hold the same opinion with Versys 650, I find it more respectful to simply not doing content with it than sit here and talk crap just because.
Anyway, so far, you are pretty good youtube content creator. Good luck.
hyperbole: good for thumbnails, bad for nuance.
When every product a reviewer does are 90% positive and 10% soft negatives, you know they are shills. But when reviewer gives fair criticism across the board, you can use that information and make your own decision.
Why is there no new bottom sprocket on Spotify?😢
Spite, is the right turn signal flashing for extra visibility (2:45) as you go down the road (Kidding!)? 😜👍 Keep doing what you do 😎👍‼
I forget sometimes okay 😰 😂😂😂
@@spitescorner please review one of those aftermarket turn signal canceling units. I always leave my blinker on and get harassed for it. If they work, I’m buying one. Specifically test one that fits my 2007 Honda 919 Hornet. (yes it is the red one.)
More shadestree surgeon crossovers please!
Sponsorships are part of the hustle. You are very transparent with sponsorships and free products, and have spoken at great lengths on your ethics. I have no worries about your objectiveness. Poo poo on any naysayers.
Great to see a video from you for whatever reason you weren’t showing up in my feeds any longer and lo and behold I checked, and I had been unsubscribed
So I fix a range of electric equipment. Yes, the controller can go out, I find it quite rare. From the description it might be worth checking the throttle and also look at the connectors. I have seen more than once connectors that have popped out of the multipin socket.
I have also found if the controller knocks out, frequently the motor has damage too. Surging doesn't sound like that
This is good info, especially as someone who is just dipping their toes into the sponsorship game, where it can be a gray area when they send you items but dont technically pay you for anything. Even turned down some that in communication hinted at a favorable review. Not worth bombing my channel for that!
Hey Spite, thanks for the video, I'm looking to get into riding, and I have one big question that I can't really find the answer to among creators. How do you wear your hair when you ride? My hair's a similar length to yours and I was just wondering if there's a particular way you wear it so helmets can come on and off easy without tearing it out.
We need about 75% fewer laws
Great job Spite
I hope yammienoob sees this video and realizes that spite here has blown him out of the water.
Yea Right! I'm sure Eric with his 1,370,000 subs is losing sleep over Spites 135,000 subs. 😒
Yammienoob did a speed run of that “what is the fastest way to ruin your reputation online” question.
I always enjoy a "peak behind the curtain" video.
Integrity is everything on UA-cam, and there's plenty of people on this platform willing to call you out on it, just ask Yammie. Even though he gave a shout out to this channel in his last video there's still salty comments about Yammie, even in this video.
Oh, and when is the Spite's Makeover Corner channel launching? I can't wait to subscribe to that one.
It all boils down to integrity. You can't buy it, can only earn it but if it fades it's insanely hard to get it back. You got a good thing going and it's so great to see this channel continue to grow and thrive.
I'm going to try to keep this short because this is a loaded question. Im fine when content creators get press bikes, but I want the creator to act like the press. I saw one influencer recently suggest the Triumph Daytona 660 is a great beginner bike. That was her stretching the truth because she knew her demographics skew towards newer riders. That is not right in my eyes. Also my other question is why does the vast majority of full time motorcycle content creators become ad heavy, while Big Rock Moto isnt? Are you guys living beyond your means? Or did He have more capital to start and maintain a channel?
I think it can depend on the channel also. Like I used a discount code for Nord but who suggested uses it for the same reason I do so it makes sense. If you watch ppv events often it pays for itself to change your location and get it way cheaper. I would also buy a CF Moto but surprisingly the 450’s
Rode a 450ss last week on a demo ride loved it. I should have rode the 450NK too. Look forward to your review.
keep up the good work your a breath of fresh air in todays you tube
nobody's business but yours either way
DJI DUMPTERS the go pro IMO i could never get GPS stuff to work on the gopro or almost any of the features and i was lucky if the thing stayed running even in open air moving it would sometimes overheat and shutdown. I have only had the DJI camera shut down on my once and i was also stuck in traffic ready to shut down my self.
What is the quickest way to ruin your reputation online? To ride into the oncoming lane 😹
I'm pleased to learn we will not be seeing a video of Spite installing one of those emergency portable battery systems in his house. Those companies give free units to all the off grid and rural living type channels.
i have the primo strada 3 and it seals just fine , i dropped the helmet today first drop so sad
Jake, you're not at home!!!
TURN OFF THE RIGH TURN SIGNAL!!! 🤣
man, that damper sucks on the gopro mount. Makes the shaking a million times worse.
Yeah, I'm working on a solution. The high speed vibrations are causing all my action cameras to shut off on the bars.
@@spitescorner there is a guy I follow on here, a fellow Aussie, @JayJankulovski who has some great videos on his setups. He's made some awesome vibration mitigation setups for amazing shots off his bike
So side makeup channel when?
I'd subscribe to spite doing makeup tutorials 😂
A couple of the camera angles didn't work very well, the gopro on the quadlock wash shaking all over the place and the side mounted fisheye angle made it look like the were riding a grom
Yeah I'm working on improving them. I'm tryin to test new stuff and sometimes they don't work.
I think as long as your contract with the sponsor doesn't stipulate whether you are required to say positive things or are specifically restricted from saying negative things, then it's alright. otherwise, I personally think that the sponsor should be rejected.
It isn't so much as what people say on camera, but more how reviewers deal with the companies outside of that. Making sure that there is an understanding your process for reviewing said product and make sure they know, that if it's a piece of crap, that you will not recommend it. They also should not be paying you. If they decide to let you keep said product, then that's ok.
illegal like all those rolling stops?
Where in CA are you? Let's go for a ride if you're near San Diego!
Eureka to Torrance. I'm back in Texas now.
@@spitescorner That's a beautiful ride. I assume you went all along the coast?
Both on the coast and inland. I've got videos coming soon.
If only the CF Moto had self-cancelling indicators.
If only every bike did 😂
My 700 clx does but it's not particularly great. overall the buttons are bleh. they all have this tiny click instead when pressed. It doesn't provide very good feedback. Not a deal breaker but probably won't make anyone's favorite features list either. Having cruise control is nice AF though. As is the eco mode that I've kept the bike in since I'm still new.
When I started riding we were using hand signals
Didn't have any gizmos to cancel that.
So is there no triumph tiger 660 on the channel because its bad or you have gotten ahold of one yet
Mostly because I don't have a triumph hook up. I'd like to see how it goes, but I expect it to be fairly versys 650 like. Not bad, just a bit bland.
Playing Raid Shadow Legends with my Raycons in bro. Seriously Spite we're here because of what Spammy Boobs did and we enjoyed you on that channel. Nobody and I mean nobody gives a crap about how you keep your channel funded. If the Triumph review wasn't enough for those 1% of naysayers then you're never gonna please them. More bikes, more guitars more subs.
"Breaking the law, breaking the law
Breaking the law, breaking the law
Breaking the law, breaking the law
Breaking the law, breaking the law" good lyrics
How's the strada 3? Ive ran the 1 and 2 since I've been on bikes
I really like it. The sizing is weird so I highly recommend going in to a cycle gear to try one on, but I recommend it for the cash.
@@spitescorner going to cycle gear this weekend. So I'll give it a quick try. Thanks for the opinion
All the Sedicis run small in my experience. I run 3XL or 4XL so I stick with HJCs.
Trust is a big thing in the world of being a creator. Like, your previous workplace lost a lot of trust which is why their viewership has dropped and we're watching your content
I’ve stopped watching videos where a UA-camr was given a product. There is no way they can be impartial as they will want to continue getting free items from manufacturers. Giving bad reviews will get them off the freebies going forward. Now, if they buy it with their own money, that’s different.
"Breaking the law"? They're accusing you of listening too much Judas Priest? :D
Is there such a thing?
You should review again versys 650
Day one of asking for a spite’s corner makeup tutorial!
In another lifetime I was occasionally given product in exchange for review. You have to be honest. 🤷 Simple as that.
I feel that most of us can tell when someone’s review smells funny. We know when someone’s pissing down our backs.
You know Whitney would love to see Spites Corner makeup episode. She would probably die laughing. 😂
So when will Honda bring back the Africa Twin to the USA?
Calling it now: April 1, 2025 Spite's Corner makeup tutorial
Basically anyone on tiktok who reps NBT is a good start 😂 "Check out this protective gear guys" while the said gear company refuses to get certified with proper slide ratings
Should be illegal for creators to talk about non rated gear is a way that implys it's real protective equipment
i saw you at msrh. wheres the footy
It's already out. Look for the thumbnail with a blue bike that says $1000 on it.
My problem with online product reviews: You can try to be honest all you want, but you don't have the stress of spending hundreds, or thousands, on the product you test. It changes your outlook like it or not. I prefer destructive testing, so you feel the pain I feel.
Are you sure that helmet is not somehow damaged or a lemon due to it not sealing?
There's no outward sign of damage, and the gap is extremely minor. Say maybe a millimeter or two. It's possible it's a defect, but I'll know when I buy another one.
Judas Priest.
Nice.
A company sending you products to review is not sponsorship, as far as I understand it. That's just a company trying to get their product out there. If they're not *paying* you to make a video to talk about it, or paying you to spend a portion of your video talking about, then it's just being given a product to review. Honda wants to send you a bike to review? Cool. If Honda wants to pay for your video production costs and, in turn, wants you to say nice things about the bike they sent you then that's a sponsorship.
Raycon earbuds sponsors all sorts of "influencers" where they spend 2 minutes at the beginning of their videos and say "I love these things and never leave home without them". The influencers always say it's sponsored. If some dumb schmuck goes out and buys a pair because of that then good job Raycon. If they send someone a free pair to review and the person says it's trash, ha, suck it Raycon but that's a risk they take without sponsoring someone to praise it.
If you didn't do anything, you should have nothing to worry about, oh wait, you live in America, free game.
If Raid: shadow legends would offer a sponsorship and you accepted. I wouldnt even blame you. Take the bag :D
I actually think it's really difficult to ruin your reputation on UA-cam - look at the likes of LTT and your old employer as examples. The masses forgave them quickly. Building a deep reputation is the hard part and you've done that because you don't think about how not to ruin your reputation. You care about enhancing it. Respect brother, ride safe.
Hey man you know you can pull out your helmets soft parts an wash them eh?
Also we all know that companies give out scripts to read about thier products. Like that ball trimmer. That thing absolutely will slice ball skin off
I just wish domestic motorcycle (and other) manufacturers step up to the plate so we don't need to promote products coming from the country which is now essentially a giant geopolitical enemy and actively trying to destroy us.

wait, so is there a chance of makeup reviews or not?
My attitude is: go ahead! Spend a massive amount of time and money pandering to me and trying to sell it ! With enormous adverstising budgets! Like Yamaha with their MT series stage production show with costumes and dancers and movies! Because I'M NOT BUYING IT ANYWAY, HAAAA!!!😆
Love your stuff and your ethics, just wish you'd get out of my left ear and into center channel.
Which part? I edited on a stereo set up and got a balanced mix as far as I know.
Why don't you work with the companies with their prototypes? once they come with the final product you can make the review
Honestly I would LOVE to do that. It sounds like it would be a lot of fun and really interesting. But no one has asked.
