Most model named units indicate the wattage but this isn't so from what I'm seeing... its only near 600w when paired with the extra battery... am i correct?
In my life, it would be good. Buy one at $299, then later on when I have the money, buy another one. The good batterey banks are so expensive that I could never afford them. This is just my opinion.
Silver Cymbal, the solar panel then is the generator. The battery is just a tank, a storage device. The gas tank in my car generates nothing. It only stores energy, it does not generate energy. Changing the description of an item does not make it magically turn into that item. Things different are not the same. Generate means to bring into existence.
Silver Cymbal, so the solar panel is the generator. Since you don’t have to fill up the suns gas tank. But the battery pack does not generate. It stores. It’s a receptacle. A tank.
I live in FL and hurricane season starts next week. I need something that will power our fridge/ freezer and a window unit A/C in the event we lose power. Don’t think this puppy’s going to do all my tricks. Any suggestions? I love Honda’s but not the price.
This thing, and any units like it, is not near enough power to run that kind of load. You need a real generator, ie a gas or diesel one, or a maybe a good size home solar system.
Had gotten that same wattage reader for $5 bucks at goodwill. Was never sure whether or not it was junk but since your using it I'm guessing I got a pretty good deal. Thanks for the video. The term "generator" is most likely kept for marketing. Electricians will obviously know the difference, but your normal person buying and watching these videos do not. And the video must use the same terminology the product uses otherwise search results could be skewed.
Thank you for your reviews, I've been looking for alternatives to my generator here in hurricane prone South Florida. At least I will have a quieter way of running my smaller appliances and charging phones and computers. For the R600 what is the recommended size of solar panels for more efficient charging? Thanks again!
Maybe a small one but thats a lot of power for just one of these for a long amount of time. This is better for big draw things but shorter times. Like a tool to do a job where this is no power or a cpap would likely run all night too.

The hobo guy did tests on the higher grade version of this and found that the life expectancy is pretty low. This is due in part to the 'fast charge' and 'fast discharge' features of these devices that wear out the lithium batteries capacity pretty quickly. Not mentioned in this video is the life expectancy; but it is the primary reason I would NOT think to invest in the larger version of this product. However; if i can use the R600 as a '3 years then throw away' generator to help jump start my off grid experiences it might be an ideal way to get things going cheap.
Good for charging phones and running SMALL appliances. Not a replacement for a real generator. This has a capacity of, at most, with add-ons, 1 KWH (1000 watts for 1 hour). Most gas generators will put out 3-6 Killowatts for 5-10 hours on a single tank of gas. They can run air conditioners, freezers and refrigerators for many hours. Of course, if gas is unavailable, you're SOL.
Totally agree. Besides the name "generator" argument taking place, the real issue is this is a good short term power supply for low wattage use and is "reasonably" priced compared to similar devices. Anyone thinking this will run their household for days during a natural disaster will be in disaster.
I can run my 2 400 watt solar panels and never worry about gasoline again in a real emergency, stored in lithium batteries which are still cheaper than gasoline in a very short period of time once again in an emergency setting.
I just ordered one from Amazon yesterday....then I decided to get the extra battery but Amazon says....it's Not Available. What good is it if I can't get the battery?
Maybe a dumb question as I am new to all this battery power station discussion, but can I hook up a surge protector to one of the AC ports and run like 3 devices as long as total doesn’t exceed 600 watts? And what happens if I plug in 3 different devices to each of the AC ports directly- then can I run each AC port to 600 watts each?

Seems like an awful lot of criticism in the comments. Personally, I don’t understand why. I’ve watched many of the Silver Cymbal videos, and I’ve learned a lot. It’s obvious that a lot of effort has gone into the content. Who cares if he calls it a generator?
Do I need to go through the app etc or can I just plug it in, charge and use it? Can I use the unit without using my phone to do so or wifi? This is for off grid camping. Thank You

Would 1 (or 2) of these run an LG or other similar portable ac unit? They typically require around 1,100 watts or less depending on low medium or high cool. I am looking for an alternative to gas powered generators.
Dies anyone know of a generator, battery pack, or solar set up that can power an RV fridge and AC? It seems that all these power sources are only good for charging phones and laptops. Awesome video as always!

Thank you. Questions: If loss of power, what can be plugged into it and run for a long time? Days even. How long did it take to charge from your vehicle? I need a little table like the one in your video!! Where did you buy that and it is costly? Thank you.
Honestly, the app gimmick is a bit annoying. There is no real need to add a flashy application (which will invariably "require" permissions to access far more data on your phone/associated device account than it needs) to your phone for a product like this. The device display could easily allow users to read similar information. As a security person it really grates on me that companies feel they MUST push unnecessary apps - or that they include them in order to collect data on 'usage' (meanwhile you become the product they sell to others).
*INFO~MERCIAL ALERT* It is NOT a generator it generates Nothing. All it does is convert DC from a battery to AC. Per AmpHour it takes more time to charge it than it does to discharge it.
Sorry but everything you wrote is wrong. It's is a *lithium ion battery* that is charged in 80% less time than any other model out there. Enough so I removed the battery type description as I don't mind correction, when I am wrong but, I don't want anyone assuming I was right (about the battery type). How about you concerning the "Generator" naming? *And I was not wrong about everything.* Glad to see the charging time is 80% faster... Overunity devices
This guy is here reviewing portable batteries, when in the back I see a fully solar lawnmower just going to town!
Good eyes! This was during my testing weeks on that little guy, you can see that review here: ua-cam.com/video/3IQhM0dkiiE/v-deo.html
Cool video keep up the great work
Thank you I appreciate it
Most model named units indicate the wattage but this isn't so from what I'm seeing... its only near 600w when paired with the extra battery... am i correct?
They got 2000w/3000w peak selling out there, why linked multiple units to get that power?
In my life, it would be good. Buy one at $299, then later on when I have the money, buy another one.
The good batterey banks are so expensive that I could never afford them. This is just my opinion.
CAN'T WAIT FOR THE HARBOR FREIGHT VERSION
I never even thought of that, that probably will happen.
Don’t worry, when it runs out of power it will generate more. Trust me on this one. It’s magic.
Connect a solar panel and it will. A gas generator will not without getting more and more gas.
@@privatepilot4064 But the solar panel puts out 12v, this not only cleans it up, it converts it to 120v and will store any excess.
This will definitely run a small fridge or with the battery even a larger one but likely not long enough to keep you through long outages.
He did a generac review awhile back, cheaper than Honda, may be worth a look
The DELTA can run a fridge no problem. But, it is $1,400 unfortunately.
This thing, and any units like it, is not near enough power to run that kind of load. You need a real generator, ie a gas or diesel one, or a maybe a good size home solar system.
Not a generator but a battery system
Had gotten that same wattage reader for $5 bucks at goodwill. Was never sure whether or not it was junk but since your using it I'm guessing I got a pretty good deal. Thanks for the video. The term "generator" is most likely kept for marketing. Electricians will obviously know the difference, but your normal person buying and watching these videos do not. And the video must use the same terminology the product uses otherwise search results could be skewed.
The manufacturer calls it a portable power station...not a generator. Others are skewing the title.
Thank you for your reviews, I've been looking for alternatives to my generator here in hurricane prone South Florida. At least I will have a quieter way of running my smaller appliances and charging phones and computers. For the R600 what is the recommended size of solar panels for more efficient charging? Thanks again!
Thank you, it can handle up to 200 watts to charge which is pretty incredible for such a small unit.
Make sure your appliances and chargers don't have 3 pronged plugs...it won't accept those, I believe.
@@mtlefty8687 Thanks for info, going to have to check. I think the smaller stuff like phones, laptops and coffee maker don't.
I bought one. I was debating between this and the duracell I'm older so is was considering the weight. but is still want the duracell one
Looks promising. Could this be connected to a refrigerator? TV? Can solar panels be connected and how long does it take to charge to 100%?
Maybe a small one but thats a lot of power for just one of these for a long amount of time. This is better for big draw things but shorter times. Like a tool to do a job where this is no power or a cpap would likely run all night too.
Silver Cymbal thanks. I live in NYC in a condo and want to buy a good power supply in case of a power loss. But obviously I cannot buy a gas powered generator. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
@@officesuperhero9611 This unit is a great portable one but you might want to check out the Ecoflow Delta for loads like that. It would easily run them. ua-cam.com/video/YyMonPCxzog/v-deo.html
Silver Cymbal thanks.
Is this product good enough to use for heating blanket in winter over night camping?
I would like to know this also
I watched this to get a review on the river 600 but you added the extra power battery so I'm still waiting to see how the r600 functions ?
Can you put gas in it you know for when you actually don’t have electricity or sun power or a car battery to charge it but there’s a 10 gallons of gas in your shed?
65CSX so basically this is just an overpriced expensive flashlight.
What is the AH? And just to clarify, 300$ including solar panel?
278wh for the base. No you don’t get a solar panel for $299.
Check the link above there are a lot of options but even the base is a great deal compared to competitive models and they can’t be expanded and no app control
Does anybody know if this would be able 2 charge an electric chair it's something I've been thinking about a lot being in a chair with today's climate and everything if then power went out for an extended. Of time how would I charge my chair
That thing is NOT a generator it's just a storage battery however my 11,000 watt welder/generator with 4 15 amp 120 volt receptacles and a 50 amp 240/120 volt receptacle to run my whole house if a power outage happened, I bet that elledge generator you got can't do that🤔
@Cali 6311 Nope.....at the time I bought it was around $3500 I'm pretty happy with it👍🏾
@Cali 6311 no problem mine is a Hobart Champion Elite 225 amp 11,000 watt generator/welder...people talk about Hobart because it's not a Lincoln or a Miller bla bla bla but whatever......it gets the job done and that's all that matters👍🏾👍🏾
10-4 This is the exact one that I have

can you turn the blutooth or wifi off in it if you don’t use the app?
I need to know how long will the battery power last in storage?
It will last 1 year and will maintain at least 80% of the charge.
Nice Battery
Hi I sent you the question on your new video on this unit earlier, so did ecoflow ditch the ability to connect 2 of these with an ext cable?
The hobo guy did tests on the higher grade version of this and found that the life expectancy is pretty low. This is due in part to the 'fast charge' and 'fast discharge' features of these devices that wear out the lithium batteries capacity pretty quickly. Not mentioned in this video is the life expectancy; but it is the primary reason I would NOT think to invest in the larger version of this product. However; if i can use the R600 as a '3 years then throw away' generator to help jump start my off grid experiences it might be an ideal way to get things going cheap.
Can you make a cup of coffee using a Keurig or use a microwave
so is R600 available for purchase or you have to participate in Kickstarter project -pledge ? are they ready to ship ?
Kickstarter above in the top comment, they are shipping in about 2 months
Its Sep2020 and no news about the r600.
Will you only be able to get these by kick start or will the be available on the market at some point?
I expect they should be for sale on regular channels very soon
That a great power house
I used it today in my yard to run a heat gun on a well line. Worked great. Its like an extension cord anywhere
I just ordered one from Amazon yesterday....then I decided to get the extra battery but Amazon says....it's Not Available. What good is it if I can't get the battery?
GOOD NEWS....ITS BACK IN STOCK AT AMAZON.....So I should have both the unit and Battery max. in a few days.....can't wait..
What country is this manufactured in?
China
@@SilverCymbal Ahh, too bad. No more China products allowed in my house.
How long it takes to charge that thingnwith those solar panels? I am sure a couple if days
No sun. No power. I have solar panels on my motorhomes, but know the limitations.
What a joke. Battery packs with a control panel like a UPS set up named itself "generator, really????
Call it whatever you want, but it's what this does that matters most.
Sold
Hi i have a new river max international version and im using it every night from 100% to 0% it last only for about 6to8 hours using a 44watts electric fan do you think its good enough? Im not satisfied please help
I saw the robot lawn mower. Review coming soon?
I wondered if anyone would notice that! Yes, I am hoping to have it out for this weekend. Very surprising results!
Kerry Dolan this guy will call it a generator!!
How long life of the battery?how many hours it can runs for 300w LED light?
lower priced unit but lot of early issues unlike its predecessor, the delta which is the top dog. there are still flaws when they coalesce both units. fast charging also degrades the battery, i wonder how may life cycles you can run off these units.
Are all the Ecoflow Rivers Defective? They dont has low voltage cutoff on the usb and my units keep getting bricked when I leave anything on the usb outlets too long and all they want to do is send me a replacement. This unit has a factory defect they are not fixing
I have never heard of that issue. If Ecoflow will send you a replacement why is that bad? Sounds pretty good to me.
Thank You
You dont need to use the app at all. I usually don't and its not required for setup at all.
How long will the charge last when power different items ?
Hello there! I friend sent me this video recently. The Amazon link's now broken: however; I'd lile to know if you still consider this one of the better "economical" portable generators?
Yes, but the model to buy now is the River Pro, I still use it all the time, great combo of size and price amzn.to/3vmrTIO be sure to click the use $70 off too
Would 1 (or 2) of these run an LG or other similar portable ac unit? They typically require around 1,100 watts or less depending on low medium or high cool. I am looking for an alternative to gas powered generators.
Would it run my campers air conditioner , and for how long. Needs 3500 watts
Dude.....it’s an inverter not a generator. It’s a good bit of kit, but it’s not a generator.
Dies anyone know of a generator, battery pack, or solar set up that can power an RV fridge and AC? It seems that all these power sources are only good for charging phones and laptops.
Awesome video as always!
Your timing is perfect, Ecoflow makes a very nice device the Delta that can do all that. I did a review on that one here: ua-cam.com/video/YyMonPCxzog/v-deo.html I also just reviewed the cheapest 1000 watt unit from another company that worked very well too: ua-cam.com/video/34wHS7eHhoU/v-deo.html
@@SilverCymbal Thanks! I said it before but your videos are the best! Clear concise info! You should be called Brass Tacks
@@douglas136 That is very kind of you to say, thank you
How many hours can this RECHARGEABLE BATTERY run a 180 watt fridge?
stupid question what is the difference between a generator and battery backup ?? I am new to this stuff and want to buy a good one so i can run mini AC
This are new invention but are secretly revealed .. Overunity devices their parents have been for long denied but China is have branded them as generator to ease the publicity... They are overunity devices just follow the free energy forum and you will understand there's a lot being hiden or just kept away cos they can corrupt the world economy in a few years,. Think living without oil. Not paying for electricity bill , electric cars ,manufucturing industries etc
All those complaining it's not a generator, at the end of the day it's generating mains power, ok it doesn't run off fuel or has an engine, but I think most people are just being picky, I really wanted the two linking together to work so was disappointed that it didn't!
I just received a final prototype and will be testing the cross link power which is supposed to be completed now. I am excited to see this too.
@@SilverCymbal cool, will look forward to seeing how it works out!
Tha Power broker ! Haha 😄
how long will it run a full sized refrigerator!!
Can a modern day fridge plug in to this?
Thank you.
Questions:
If loss of power, what can be plugged into it and run for a long time? Days even.
How long did it take to charge from your vehicle?
I need a little table like the one in your video!! Where did you buy that and it is costly?
Thank you.
I wonder where I could buy one of these on credit?
How would you use the two inputs under the DC port?
Is it a kind of a UPS?
Will it charge a 680Whr lithium ion battery?
Hi, Silver Cymbal, would you please try to run a 5000 UTB (480 Watt) Window air condition by this 600 Watt generator? if it work, I order 2.
👍😃 awesome
*INFO~MERCIAL ALERT* It is NOT a generator it generates Nothing. All it does is convert DC from a battery to AC. Per AmpHour it takes more time to charge it than it does to discharge it.
Sorry but everything you wrote is wrong. It's is a *lithium ion battery* that is charged in 80% less time than any other model out there. I have tried dozens of these and there is nothing cheap about this. Not sure why you are trying to over simplify it in the same way that saying a car is just an engine with 3 wheels but is a Ferrari the same as a chrysler? It's my experience with this.
@@SilverCymbal It is actually a lithium ion battery... Stunning. Enough so I removed the battery type description as I don't mind correction, when I am wrong but, I don't want anyone assuming I was right (about the battery type). However, by explaining my error here, I have not distanced myself from the error as though it never happened. How about you concerning the "Generator" naming? *And I was not wrong about everything.* Glad to see the charging time is 80% faster... But doesn't that mean it would take 40 hours longer to charge a different li-ion 1000 watt battery? I don't think I know of one that takes near that long.
Of course, I have to take your word on the battery type... But that does explain the recharge time thing.
Not sure why everybody is stuck on what it is called, when the lights go out and you plug up devices in it, I will take two of them, PERIOD
Just wait until graphene lithium batteries are released in mainstream applications. The depth of discharge will triple 😎
That’s what Tesla is working with to attain the magical 1000 mile range on their EVs.
That will be great, another leap like that will push these into more mainstream use.
The app is not good at all. I have been trying to sign up through the app. It will accept my info but will send a code to continue. I tried to call the number provided and unable to reach anyone. They actually place you on hold then automatically hang up. Very curious....
what part of this is a generator ?
