    Will, An interesting tidbit of information that I learned about having these batteries hooked up to an isolator. My regular battery in my 2018 Ford Transit mid roof van started conking out on me. It was showing signs that it needed replacing. Little did I know that if I turned on the isolator the engine would start off of 2 of these valence batteries that I have running off a 190 watt solar panel that is running a Natures Head toilet, a 12v ICECO fridge and 2 MaxxAir fans. These batteries that you suggested have been a Godsend. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and education people like me about these types of things. You are truly a blessing. Have a great day!

This is the best video I have seen to get affordable power for a budget van build. The fact that they are used only makes me happier. They, well most countries in the EU, look at it as, the more and better educated our next-generation is, the better our country will do in the future. Hey Will, thank you so much for sharing these lessons online! I was gung-ho to build my first battery block using your lessons, but honestly, I hesitate now to purchase lithium batteries because of the human rights violations involved in the mining of lithium and cobalt. Everyone, please consider the reports in recent years by Amnesty International about the detrimental effects on the environment and how indigenous people and child workers are abused in the process of mining these substances. I implore everyone I know to research this and understand alternative battery chemistries, or alternative lifestyle practices to avoid purchasing lithium batteries before those companies come clean about their supply chains. Have a heart, I will purchase lithium batteries AS SOON AS COMPANIES STOP VIOLATING HUMAN RIGHTS.

    Ian Murdock [below] quotes 4 Ah per week self-discharge due to BMS. This is insane - my small solar system would lose several percent of its output just to keep a BMS warm? I still recommend careful bottom balancing prior to battery assembly when using LiFePO4 cells - we know from EVTV that quality LiFePO4 cells thereafter do not diverge in capacity, so no need for BMS parasitic drains that can actually unbalance the battery if no charger power available! Nevertheless, these batteries would be an ideal starter system for newbies. Thanks for testing them! Keep up the good work.

    • @xvxSKYNETxvx
      @xvxSKYNETxvx 3 роки тому

      These batteries have a total self-discharge of 166 mAH/day which equals 1.162 Ah/week in park (active) mode. There is no BMS but it does have internal FETs to protect from over or under voltages.

      @@beebob1279 You might want to get a chest freezer to replace the refrigerator, I picked up three of them two months ago, I lowered the temperature on one that I use as a refrigerator, to .4 to .6 tops. They uses far less energy then refrigerators, and you do not lose your cold air every time you open them to get something out!
      I did a week long test on my battery bank, to see if I could power them on my system! It worked just fine, the solar recharged the batteries everyday, and I could go 3 days with having to worry if the freezers would defrost!
      I even forgot to plug in a freezer for 2 days, looked inside and everything was still frozen.
      Chest freezers are the ways to go on solar generators,

    Thanks for all the great content. When it comes to battery storage systems have you ever looked at the Carbon Foam AGM technology from Firefly? I have a 400 AH FLA battery bank on a sailboat and looking to upgrade. Looks like my options, in descending order of costs, would be new lithium batteries, most likely Battlebornes, used Lithiums, such as the Valence batteries, or new Carbon Foam batteries from Firefly. From the literature available, it seems like the Carbon Foam batteries offer most of the lithium advantage at about half the cost. Plus, I would not have to change much of my existing charging system.

    you're right man the only things that's been stopping me from getting solar is the battery cost. My house gets blasted with sun light from all sides and my house is not very large so solar would be a great option for me. we have a program in the city to install solar that connects to the grid. but I don't want to be paying on a loan and it will likely take over 10yrs to pay it off. and I also would like to avoid the grid all together if I can. I just want to get a bunch of cheap solar panels over the course of a year or so. and put them on a car port roof. and then buy the batteries over the course of a year too. that way it won't be a bank breaker.
