Soooo...
Don't want to sound ungrateful but it's already the 23rd of April. Not sure but I think you may have mistimed the discount date🤔
Edit: I see you have fixed the date for the discount. Much appreciated and thank you👍
Does the DPU have dark start? Meaning if it goes to zero, and the Sun comes out, does it reignite? ... The Hysolis Apollo does. Much smaller company, less proven, much more expensive.
Your mama
I’d like to see you charge the EcoFlow DPU with a portable generator
@@theMister07 I have an home-based off-grid system by SMA. I don't know if it matters with the DPU, but you have to use an inverter generator on my off grid system. THERE IS A TRICK WORK AROUND BUT I DON'T WANT TO TRY ON A 12 YEAR OLD INVERTER.
Propane stove/oven for cooking, wiod stove for heat, and this for everything else is a great setup.
Really enjoy your content Chris. Super informative and well presented. In my region we’ve only had 5 hours of lost power in ten years (but it was all this year at -35). It’s definitely coming and need to prepare. Really thankful for your content.
Thank you. great info and pretty straight forward , simple and clear. Enjoy all your videos.
highly recommend having multiple redundancy appliances. Propane stove, propane water heater, wood burning stove, solar lights and having this backup battery system. I say this cuz I've lived all over the world and been through every type of storm- snow, hurricanes, tsunamis, fires, floods... having multiple systems saved us on several occasions.
Love it. Going to be my backup system when we move to a tiny home.
Ive got a pretty decent 8500 watt dual fuel generator, added a transfer switch, and had an exterior gas line installed next to a small concrete slab i poured next to my garage. Huge Tornado hit on Easter 2020 and knocked out power for over two weeks. This kept me going easy. I put my important appliances on the transfer switch and most of the necessary lights. I even had internet and my PC running. The entire setup was about $2500. I might add a single battery setup with an automatic transfer switch so that the power stays on. Battery will handle load for a few minutes, then swap to generator. This is a far more effective option than dropping 20k on batteries for 2 days of power.
Absolutely correct, unfortunately until batteries become vastly cheaper or a new chemistry is discovered these are for rich people and social media influencers. No shade on him, I would do the same thing if I was offered a review unit. He’s a great guy and great UA-camr but that’s the only way you can afford something like this.
AGREED! This is NOT an option us "regular" people can afford!
but this can run your home everyday, not just for 2 days. Gas generators are not long term options
@@teejayman215 technically everything is still ran on fossil fuels so that’s not true. Yeah you’ll have to do maintenance on said generator but it’s never going to run indefinitely. I wish these technologies were more affordable. I do want enough power to run my home for a week or two plus a generator. But I’m not forking out the money. I’d like a setup that allows me to run everything just on the back up battery and also have a massive backup battery in a EV truck but unfortunately Elon musk and ever other electric car manufacturer insists on making overly complicated expensive EV’s. I don’t want a truck that can drive itself and has all these electronics. I want a traditional old school truck that’s tuff and simple. I get it electric collates to futuristic but why does everyone have to have these gadgets that don’t really work for normal blue collar people? I want a cyber truck that’s shaped like a regular truck that just has solid axles and a big battery with regular controls. It’d be super cheap to make a bare bones truck I just don’t see why no one makes one. It’d be awesome to have a solar grid, battery bank and EV to run your home.
@kylewest100 seems your gripe is with the way EV companies are designed.
Still, back to this subject. Seems like this generator would be more than self sufficient if you have enough panels and you could even increase the capacity with more of these Delta pro Ultra units.
Okay, they're expensive now, but so whatt? Solar tech has jumped leaps and bounds in the last 10 years.
Every year it's getting cheaper and cheaper to buy and install neater and better system.
You gripped about how expensive this system is,
To me it seems like the most easiest-to-install solar system I've seen thus far, and it's so sleek
This basic setup is what I did with a small system from Vigorpool. With just a 1200 watt output, gas furnace, and careful use I was able to get through 3 days of power outage. I did that by only running the furnace at night, and by charging the battery from my natgas generator. To be fair, I just ran on the generator during the day, but really the only thing that was stopping me from staying on the battery more often and just topping off the lil solar generator was a big battery. This Ecoflow system is pretty awesome, but the cost is quite steep.
I have 2 Tesla powerwalls. I like them but I love the modularity and ease of upgrading for this system.
Let's go! I would love to have half that setup. Maybe someday. Delta II and 4800w of gas gen for now. 👍
At least you can add later. It's incredible that they still sell even the original Delta 5 years later. Some companies abandon customers really fast, I hope Ecoflow never does that.
So glad I live in a warm place, I survive with 1500wh and one 550 solar panel 😆 when power is out . Great video
That is a fantastic, complete set-up. Unfortunately, not economically feasible north of the 49th parallel.
Does that mean fewer power outages north of the 49th parallel?
@@appiconll No. But nearly double the cost of purchase makes it a tough pill to swallow.
@@appiconll He means there isn't enough sunlight. However, you can charge it with a gas/diesel generator and be super efficient about your fuel. It's expensive though.
@@Chris-vx5kp- I think he means that prices for the DPU in Canada are too high.
@@appiconll it means that one needs to be concerned about heat during the cold months and a battery isn't going to cut it. A 1200Wh battery will give you less than 1 hour use of a 1000W heater, you will need 24 batteries to heat a cold day, then what will you do tomorrow?
A four battery system costs $12K. Are they for real???? lol If I'm gonna spend $12K on a system I would go all the way and spend another $12K for a diesel generator setup that could run my house for days upon days as long as I have plenty of diesel fuel which of course I would.
You can't compare it to a generator, well of course you can. But you have to want the batttery, whether its cause you can't deal with fuel (lot of people can't) you want stealth mode or maybe you have solar where you can tie it in. You won't ever buy this to save money but it can give some features that can be really helpful. Gas gens have had 70 years to get cheap, we are still in the somewhat early days of these.
A diesel generator requires maintenance and storage of combustible diesel at home while the battery system can charge via solar for “free”.
Diesel gens are noisy as hell. You're neighbors will hate you.
I have the same setup. It is pricey but with the 30% tax credit and using it everyday it will pay itself off in just a few years. I have 4kw of solar in back yard, I get 22kw of battery storage daily which I dump into electric car and the extra to house with manual transfer switch. In CA electric is $$$, so doing it myself and being “off grid” I absolutely love this thing.
That's a great point about the credits thats a big deal. Its hard to believe I was their first reviewer 4 years ago with the little Delta and how far these have come. This is the best one in this class by far,
Slick setup. Any reason you didn't put the TPDT before the ecoflow so that it could be charged by grid or gen and always stay in the loop?
-- Amazing. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you, I was very lucky to get to work with this setup.
Great EcoFlow delta pro ultra system 👌
Sweet setup. But you said that weights 400 lbs. That's 5 batteries and an inverter and each battery weighs 116 pounds and the inverter weights another 70 lbs, so that's well over 600 lbs. 😄
This seems like an interesting power option for a school bus conversion.
That is an awesome setup, but 5 grand is a lot if money. Maybe one day. We recently lost electricity for two days in February. Im glad i had my gas generator. Especially during the winter time.
I have been wondering about a house-wide UPS system. Very cool.
Awesome video!
Thank you! I am dying for your solar mount to come out, I think people will be loving that
Awesome! Very soon it'll be ready for shipping.
Nice video! I am going a lot of research on energy backup systems! Ecoflo seems to be the system more with options! Trying to decide if to put up permanent solar panels. Not on the roof. I thinking about a pergola setup. I see your network is ubiquity with the new switch! The cyber power in rack ups!
Awesome video,thanks for doing it!
Question:Any problem with grounding/neutral bonded/unbonded,etc?
I currently have the bluetti AC300 and I see the community has had issues with properly tying the AC300 into the main panel at 240V.
I have held out installation until I get a clear answer from bluetti.
I’ve read everything from using bonding plugs, gfci transfer switches to “It’s not possible to do to code”
Anyway,I’m thinking about this unit down the road and would like to setup the same as you-gas generator and battery system options.
Thanks
El sistema que todos quisiéramos tener, felicitaciones
the last few months have been a whirlwind of new and more capable battery systems......reminds me of the computer industry in the 90s a new better thing each week. I bought into a system almost two years ago and now it seems so outdated, i am jealous and excited at the same time. My plan is to save money and see what is available next summer, at this rate of innovation we may be looking at Jetsons style living......lol
To the best of my knowledge ,You mentioned in the video that if you connect to the main EDPU inverter and another inverter with batteries, together they’ll be 14 kW of output, do you mean for the smart home panel two if so, then you’re correct but if you’re talking about the 50 amp double voltage chub I think that will only do 12 kW of power output
Also i’ve been watching you for a while like a few years, Keep up with good UA-cam content will ya?
I was able to post the same response. Good catch. It's the 50amp Hub that ties two DPU's together.
I used to have a 1200AH lead acid UPS for the house in case of power outages in my country, it would run the lights and fans for like 3 days if we were lucky. Seeing the goddamn DRYER run on BATTERY POWER is just absolutely insane
Thank you
I have 4kw of Solar and a Power Wall. I can be completely independent from the grid about 97-98% of the time. I use 1-2kwh of utility power a day as I have a minimum charge of about $0.35 but normally I don’t use more than a quarter of my Power Wall’s capacity. So I theoretically could go a couple days without sun or utility power. I bought a Natural Gas generator for those days.
Mine. 😍
Strap some solar to it and I'll be set.
Okay, change of plans. How much for the doggy😂I have a puppy and he's always moving. Thanks for the video.
most off gridders use propane for heat and cooking. I ordered a small propane hot water heater for out door showers.
Do you have an interlock on the main panel so when power goes out you manually switch to the inside outlet then plug the dpu into the outlet to power the house? Also can you leave both cable plugged in meaning the inlet to charge and the inlet to power the main panel? The generator selector is that a custom made box? I am assuming when the dpu is powering the main panel you can just turn off whatever circuit you don’t need while running off of dpu? Thanks
yea they also have a gas generator that hooks into these and can be set to turn on as a backup if needed
As always, another great video, appreciate it! Couple questions:
1 - Is this UL Certified?
2 - Is this something you purchased or was it given to you by EcoFlow?
Check out 5:45 it was sent to him, a bunch of other reviews of this have came out recently
SPONSORED video so most likely NO COST!
Killowatt-hour = energy capacity, akin to your odometer, its the total distance.
Kilowatt= power, its your "speedometer", per unit time.
Battery capacity is always Kilowatt-hour. 1 kilowatt hour is running something that draws 1 kilowatt for 1 hour.
Eco flow makes great products. Today however you can do much much cheaper with Server rack batteries for a fraction of this cost.
very cool, haven't seen anyone max out 1 whole stack yet
CS could you please note or give a link where to purchase that expensive switch box.
Really impressive set up and yes a great move to make.
TY kindly
Thank you for the review, this set is cool but soooo expensive... Cheers from Europe!
Should look into the smart switch and the Eco flow propane genny. With both those installed you can have the smart panel kick the power over at ups switch speeds and when the batteries are low it will auto start the genny for you, like in the middle of the night. Only 2kw but it does fully connect/link with the system. I'm looking at the same system in the next 2-3 years for myself and that's my long term power storage. Propane doesn't really go bad like gas does and the house I am looking at already has a large tank for the stove. Would just need a new line for the genny.
I just posted a question asking if the Ecoflow Dual fuel generator could automatically top off these batteries. 👍
Great job on UA-cam videos 😎 👌
cool, can you program to recharge at low cost times. use the battery to power the house, and every low cost time it taps up?
Were you able to charge from a generator with a 120v 30 amp outlet while you were running the house? Basically a tt30r. I have a 4200 watt generator with that 30 amp 120v rv plug on it. It's an inverter style so I figured I could charge via 120v plug or the generator input with it. Thanks!
This may be a loaded question(pun intended), but will this work either a grid-tied solar system? If decoupling from the grid, will this power the solar inverted to produce and charge it during the day?
Did you use you anker 3800 at all? I think we may be leaning that way. We had the same storm in Maine
Pretty cool system but here’s the thing if I’m spending that kind of money I want a whole house generator that actually runs everything I mean everything like the A/C for one. My dad has a 26kw for his 2,500 square foot house and it runs it all you don’t have to pick and choose.
I want to know what size home square footage will that be ideal for i use the EG4 3 solar ac heat pump units with there own solar panels and my well pump is on a solar system so will i be ok with this set up on a 2500 sq ft home
Hello my friend the best system.
My question is what is the service life of a setup like this? Will it all need replacing in 5 years? Though i get theres more to it than just trying to get off grid dependence. Theres a price to pay for having a backup power system
Any videos coming on air conditioners for backup if power goes out?
I know you have a family and all, but, at 6:26, you sounded a little lonely saying you only hear the "water dripping and....me." But great video as always Mr. SC!
Crazy video of the electrical arcing
Yes, that was caused by a homeowner that saw a download tree on a line, he decided to try to move the tree.....and didn't help the situation, it didn't start blowing up until he touched it!
Have you had a problem with delta pro ultra sold by amazon? The q/a:"is ac pass through possible with 120v input? A:Use the c20 outlet for a bypass mode with a 120v input. There is no bypass mode for 240v input. AC output is turned off at this time."
Damn, Ecoflow, never heard of it. but god damn that looks like high quality stuff. Nice video!
Agreed, its truly the best unit on the market today, its expensive but at least it is a good choice.
Are you new to youtube? Ecoflow is everywhere on here lol. Almost drives me crazy seeing ecoflow stuff everywhere i go.
@@95dodgev10 Haha, naah. Been here a while. But I never seen this in Europe before.
Do you have all the light bulbs in your house swapped to LEDs?
One Question, one Suggestion.
Can the Dual fuel Ecoflow generator work with this setup automatically, like with the Delta pro batteries?
And, with being as remote as you are, Consider appliances that run on Propane vs electricity.
You can buy as much as you can, and Propane lasts forever.
At this overall price WHY not just go with a whole-home generator (Ex. Generac or other brand) that can power a home indefinitely and would CHEAPER too!!!???? This PRICE is just NOT a viable option IMO!
In rural areas like mine, a propane generator would deplete a tank in 3 days, and if its winter that also means no heat. Thats also assuming it was full which it wouldn't be. Gas generators cost $500/yr for maintenance plans also. They also run for 30 minuets a week, every week of the year which is pretty annoying. The video here isn't tell you the Ecoflow is the only option but the gas route/built in have caused a lot of issues that peopel didnt expect. I should do a video on this, even just for education as some of it can be an eye opener
Bingo! This is $15k or more. You can buy an inexpensive generator, transfer switch and call it a day. BTW, the generators do not require that much maintenance at all. Let's not use that as an excuse. Take care of your equipment, maintain your fuel properly and you won't have issues when you need the generator to run/work for you.
I wish this was the answer but it’s not.
Unfortunately you need a multiple system approach.
If power was only going to go out for a few days you’d probably be fine with a whole house gen.If what many of us think is coming does come the grid will be down often and for extended periods of time.
All things break, gen sets and these units included.
I have backups to my backups.
It all depends what you can afford and how prepared you want to be.
My advice is look for used or factory refurbished units with a warranty.
Good luck
I’ll wait until they have the EMP proof one! Because if that happens you’re out 17k, that’s a huge 600 pound paper weight!
Kinda wondering if the ecoflow alternator charger can charge up this beast
Can the ultra be charged with cigarette lighter cable? In other words, can the car while running charge this unit?
At 0:56 i noticed you have LED lit patch panel cables. Do you have a link to them? If you have a an affiliate link - I can use that. Thanks!
Can you please list the brand and model number for your double inlet box?
I've seen someone use a DC/DC converter to use the car alternate to fake a solar panel and charge the battery faster from its car, it is maybe a useful fallback for an emergency.
This is a very cool system… not gonna lie. My personal opinion though, I am not a very big fan of all electric. But regardless, this a nice system!
Does the DPU have dark start? Meaning if it goes to zero, and the Sun comes out, does it reignite?
The Hysolis Apollo does. Much smaller company, less proven, much more expensive.
You can charge the EcoFlow DPU with 240 volt. You just need the adapter that goes from 240 volt on your generator to the power-inlet port on the DPU.
I just don’t know if you can use the DPU while you are charging in that fashion.
Yes, I am using the 240v to charge it now at up to 7000 watts which is crazy. But you can't output anything while doing that. But you definitely can charge at 120v while outputting 240v, max is 1800watt. Ecoflow is the only one to offer this feature, and I love having it.
@@SilverCymbal Good to know. Thank you for that clarification. That’s quite the setup there. Your videos are excellent. Very informative and never too long. Keep them coming 👍🏼
@@SilverCymbal you can charge at 125 and output both 125 and 240 simultaneously.
You would need a 100 stakes of these batteries to really say you have enough power for your home, long term.😢 That would cost around $800,000 dollars mate.😂 you would’ve been better off using a different battery configuration, like Lead Acid, in my opinion ’that is.😮Thanks for sharing your experience and opinions with me.😊
Hey nice Ubiquiti setup!
Thank you, I have been changing over to them I think like a lot of owners went crazy getting into the lineup. I will have a video coming about what happend and why I switched, I have no connection to either company.
I find running a washingmachine during an outage rather unnecessary. It can wait 2 days without a problem. I would concentrate on getting food prepped, coffee made and staying warm.
Do you know if it’s feasible to say that with this battery unit and a small Honda generator like the 2200 the two could be used to manage the entire power needs of the home with the battery being used at peak load times and then charged by the generator and still maintaining the home during low power consumption?
That's exactly how I will be using it. Durign the night we use almost no power, durign the day obviously higher, by supplementing charigng with the small generator I think I coild easily extend this runtime to a week wit minimal effort. ost outages here are 1-2 days so for the most part we wont go to gas. But we need to plan for all things here where there have been week long outages.
Smart panel 2 Eco flow delta system test it out
I actually had a question. Is there a way to keep it always charged to 90 percent? Or do I have to keep letting it discharge and then select the charge button?
If you get their Smart Home Panel, that connects between it and the main panel. It will handle all the charging for you automatically. I talk about that product here, while its not required it is a greta upgrade. I will likely do that in the future. ua-cam.com/video/2K9mlryo8lI/v-deo.html

Can you show us the reverse osmosis cap to the drain? I need one of this
Yes, I have a video coming on that system and RO stuff. I will definitely show that in detail.
it is a very cute dog you got, please show him in future videos
HAGER HIM406 is the German way wo switch between 2 input.
US way looks like stoneage with no protection
The one quick question I have is How to set it up so that one has an automatic transfer switch for it so that if I am away I'll be ok since the system will be turned on by the ATS.
It looks great, though.
You can add thei smart home panel. That completely automates charging, discharging and switching. Its a great option. 100% hands free use and if you have solar input it of course handles charging from that too
1:06 try some bruce cost ginger ale SC
Do you know if the Delta Pro and Delta Ultra can be mixed? Can they be connected together in some way?
Two delta pros can be connected with a dpu to their smart home v2 panel. Two delta pros because you need their individual 120v single phases to match the split phase 240v of the dpu.
Does anyone know if their batteries are LifePO4 type batteries?
Nice system, but it's more than twice the cost of the new EG4 wall mountable 30kw system. That systems costs $7,800.
I very curious how long these batteries last. It’s already too expensive and hopefully that will change soon but with the current battery chemistry I don’t see this as viable as just a gas generator. I could never afford this in my life let alone have to potentially replace a battery module after it looses capacity.
They are rated for 3000 cycles before they lose about 5% capacity per year. So if you charged and discharged this every single day, it would work at 100% for 8.2 years and then start to slowly lose capacity. No one uses it that much though, so I would expect a 10-15 year working life from these.
What's the specific model of that induction stove I want to buy one to use with my Delta Ultra Pro
FCFI3083AS - Its a great price for what this gives you.
4:20 I am 12 years off-grid solar, flooded lead acid batteries, SMA equipment. This is very good, very straightforward, but why do guys like you wear blue gloves on something perfectly dry and clean? Is that for effect? Is it to get you clicks?
Eco flow should use this as their marketing video
They probably are!
Is that confirmed that switching the neutral vs not switching the neutral is the only code approved way to do this?
You can be certain that switching all of them is the best way as it leaves nothing to chance. I did as much research as possible my install and there are lots of people saying it makes no difference as grounds and neutrals are the same but there was info stating that all leads should be switched. There is no specific code that will address this, its likely part of something else as this is a very small demand project. So in the end you have to make your own decision or consult an electrician.
Thanks for putting this together. I’m making a pitch to my wife. Can you tell me what the cost would be for the set up you’re using in this video?
Someone posted it is $17,000
Whats the Ubiquiti devise above your dream machine? Is it a dedicated firewall?
Its amzn.to/4dpimEL 10 Gig aggregation switch, the greatest bargain in their lineup. Sadly after making a video two monthds ago showing my tplink gear, I had a number of problems and completely switched to Ubiquti. I will have a video pretty soon about my home network disaster and the new setup to show more detail.I have a pretty extensive home built setup with fiber, switches, different building, solar wifi. KInd got out of control but its working super well now.
@@SilverCymbal Ah. Thanks. Thats one thing I don't need in my setup, but have lots of other UI gear. Finally just added a NVR-Pro as the UDM ran out of power to handle all the new AI cameras UI is putting out.
Since you are running your well pump with this setup, I presume the 240 volt is split phase? Thank you for the real world information.
Yes. For well pump use these are a dream, since the moment the well isn't pumping you are not using any electricity, compared to gas that you would leave running. Yes its definitely 240 split phase, all pure sine power.
@@SilverCymbal Since you mentioned wasted gas.. I was thinking it may be more useful to use the 30Amp output of my inverter generator to charge the battery rather than power the house. In that way, I can turn the generator off when the battery is full.
You a network admin?
Will it run a Geothermal system? Mine has a 50 amp breaker
For that you would want to use two stacks. Now you dont need 10 batteries, you can use less but combing the 2 will give you 14,000 watts our continuous output and a 50amp connection.
OMG, I looked into the system you had and the price.... ouch.
For one day of power. Sorry, no way.
And then I think of all the batteries like in my laptop and mobile phone and how long they last, etc.
I think I stick to a simple generator. Best with propane. Costs a 10th of it and is more than sufficient.
I got mine in a shed and it is also not very loud.
Just my 5 cents.
The batteries in your devices are a different chemistry than the EcoFlow batteries (LiFePo4 vs. Lithium Ion), the Ecoflow batteries are designed to be able to handle a lot more charges and discharges than a Lithium Ion battery (IIRC, it's something like after 10,000 charges they still maintain 80% of their capacity).
What is the urgency of running the dryer during a power outage? 😉
Ok. Please forgive me. Why can this thing only take a max of 5 battery’s? If your staggering the connections, one would think that you could just keep staking battery’s. What’s the reason it maxs out at 5?
4:25 -- One serious concern about this rolling battery system is safety during earthquakes.
The heavy batteries stacked atop one another (unsecured) on a smooth rolling cart (not fastened to a wall) means that this roughly 400 pound thing is a roll/tip hazard during a major earthquake. And that is in addition to being a shock/explosion hazard if these lithium batteries are punctured and exposed to water, say from flooding.
In earthquake environments, I would like to see the whole setup in an anti-roll, anti-tip cage or at least strapped to the wall.
Little surprised they don't offer a 50 amp connection on this beast. I guess it would have to be limited to 120V unless you get the 14kW solution.
There is a 30 amp 240 plug, that’s what he was using
@@aaronrroy I know. That's why I said I wish it had a 50. I could run everything in my house on 50.
Just getting gas generator the last years
Wow that system is about $20,000 and more
At least. Not affordable for most people.
Any typical American household wastes a lot of power man.
