  • This 4-part documentary from 2008 follows the progress of 4 law students on the thorny path to become fully-fledged barristers, as well as giving a glimpse into the work of already established barristers.
Barristers are a legal profession with a long tradition in the judicial system of England and Wales. Until fairly recently most barristers were often not directly contacted by clients but by solicitors on behalf of clients. But as some things in the profession this is slowly changing.

Kat ended up going to do exactly what she wanted. She stayed a paralegal for a year then became a barrister. Shows what you can do when you are determined.

@@qw1205 - Are you serious? You don’t think that’s because she doesn’t have the qualifications that others have? Do you think they should dump a white person for a black person that has less qualifications and failed their exams the first time?

how can anna apply for a job as a barrister without a law degree?? that's not the case in ireland. here you need either a law degree from a university or the legal diploma from the honorable society of kings inns (which is considered as the equivalent of a law degree in the eyes of the bar association of ireland) to qualify as a barrister.

+SuperDS86 This is very late, but in England you can do a Law conversion qualification, called a GDL (Graduate Diploma in Law) which means if you have a degree in another subject you can practice as a Lawyer. I'm not sure about how well the GDL is judged against a Law Degree, but it is theoretically possible to work as Barrister without a Law degree.

I think he would be very surprised about how little Lawyer. is actually making United States. Plus college is far more expensive. The United States is saturated with lawyers. Many lawyers are absolutely so discouraged about the prospects of being a lawyer once they get to the job. Anybody with a law degree can be a lawyer in the United States, and that’s good for people who are D level lawyers, but it’s bad for everybody else who’s a lawyer because they saturate the market.
