Use satin varnish. Underrated coating for metallics. Not too glossy, not too dull.

Sometimes I use Bosque Verde acrylic wax, I remember that it was called Future bright some years ago in the USA, the problem is yellowing, If you can afford it there is a chínese clear coat for art that doesn't have any solvents and is so so bright, but need some days to complete dry, that means that only acrylic water based coats may be applied to chrome parts to protect.

I've heard of "pledge floor wax with future" but I have yet to be able to find it near me. I've only heard good things about it.

I just build this one and since I'm new to gunpla I was wondering how to apply panel lining to the golden parts and was recomended a clear coatting but I also tried with the runners and I'm not too happy with the results, this video answered my questions for coating but I'm wondering how to apply the panel lines then? The gunpla pens don't worl on the gold and I'm scared of ruining it with the tamiya panel line accent.

I used the panel line accents and cleaned them up with naptha(or lighter fluid). There were some easy spots to fill with panel liner but there were also some trouble spots on the wings in particular that I just tried my best to keep clean. You can also try to use black acrylic paint and a cotton bud with rubbing alcohol(edit: rubbing alcohol can remove plated finishes, so beware) in place of panel line accents/lighter fluid. That's how I filled the gaps in the red cables. Hopefully that helps

Use future floor shine if you really need to top coat plated parts.

I haven't had any luck finding floor shine with "future" in my local stores. just looked it up and I guess they stopped mentioning that the floor shine has "future" in it. I'll have to give it a try at some point. Thanks for the tip

They're not really plated, they are pre-painted

To me this kit was never meant to have a gloss finish, matte topcoat if anything.

Can you panel line the gold?!

    • @crazedaku8142

You can. I would try out your preferred method on some scrap if you can. I think alcohol can remove the plating. I believe I just panel lined with Tamiya and clean up with naptha iirc.
