People always wonder why it takes me a year to build a gundam, and this is why. I can build the model in a weekend, but seam removal, panel lining, adding detail parts, sanding, masking and painting are a labor of love. Buddhist monks do sand art, and my christain ass does gunpla. I also built a lightsaber and vash’s revolver from trigun using the same workflow. Gonna do videos on em soon.
@@SWhade don’t let anyone tell you that you have to work quickly. Unless you’re a freak of nature, speed lowers precision. If you’re anything like me, you beat yourself up for every tiny mistake, even if you can’t see it. What model is it?
I tried a little of this kind of 'micro masking' on a SD Barbatos. That was a nightmare at such a scale. I love your technique of kind of 'masking in reverse' and building up from the biggest areas to the smallest in layers. Very smart! I'm for sure going to try that next time.
I'm loving 'micro masking'. It's kind of satisfying for me due to the fact that it covers every little area of the part. May we successfully make the same epic builds he's made.
Nobody knows but this is footage from the Toy Story 14 movie that will air on the year 2077, this is actually Woody's prosthetic cyborg leg, those little stickers say "Andy" on them.
why not just put acrylic down first, clear coat of your choice, then hand paint enamel details? You can clean up any mistakes with enamel thinner and it wont disturb the acrylic layer underneath.
I would go with the enamel hand-painting route as well. I'd just assume this is the process he's most comfortable with. Or perhaps the entire thing is his sarcastic idea of trolling skilled modelers, considering he went through all that trouble for the bottom of gunpla FEET, even going so far as to put decals on them.
Heck, you can handpaint acrylic in like 3 thin coats and get a smooth finish. mini painters do it all the time. This is masochistic, lol. Talented, but masochistic.
@@nelakendra2296 Thats stupid especially if you get the same results. If that was the case he wouldnt be trying to use resin kits as well for some of his work.
Interesting to see the whole process. Thank you for this video :). But as a result, the areas painted last took on Surfacer, Dark gray, Dark blue, Gray, all that to end up in gold (and I suppose that there is still an extra layer of gray since the gold has been masked in turn). Is there not a risk that this accumulation of layers of colors which will not be seen will end up hiding certain details, or "rounding off" certain edges?
I don't anticipate doing quite this level of detail in my own masking, but this gives me a much better understanding of how to approach masking complex shapes that I've had trouble with in the past. Thanks!
I like this. A lot of these videos make it seem like you can do it fast once you get good. There is no facade here. Did great work, but showed they spent like 40 min on just the boot soles.
Wall paint tape as in like duct tape? In that case no. Duct tape and wall tape are difficult to cut and do not adhere as precisely (or even at all) to Gunpla surfaces. Wall paint tape is meant to stick across long, wide surfaces like walls, not small Gunpla prices. The builder in this video is most likely using yellow Tamiya Masking Tape. There are other brands of masking tape, but most people go with Tamiya Masking Tape.
Gray Primer, then a dark gray shader, but in this case also used it to fill in a few places recessed in the sole there, then masked that color and did the next colors.
This guy is a god of masking, but, really, this is not practical when you can just paint it with a brush and save you 99% of this work. I understand the purpose of this video however.
La cosa assurda dei modelli Gundam è che hanno 40 pezzi per il banale movimento di rotazione su un piano dell'articolazione del ginocchio, poi la connessione tra gamba e torso è costituita da un semplice perno. Dire che non ha senso è poco.
Wouldn't it be easier to mask and hand paint this? The amount of surface you are painting is so small, and don't you wind up wasting a lot of paint and time airbrushing each tiny section?
The bottom of this boot looks better than any of my builds
hahah same bro
likewise 🤣
You ain't the only one 😂

Been working on this same kit for 4 months now, my first build tho...

ooo i'm interested in seeing the videos especially for the revolver! looking forward to it, cheers!
I'd probably never go to this length for such detail, but impressed by those who do.
Looks at the other boot: "Sigh... damn. Gotta do all that again"

Such dedication, on one small part that will be rarely seen. 👏👏👏

That was extremely therapeutic, thank you.
the amount of masking and painting on the bottom of the foot (where no one will see) is insane, this is masterclass !!!
Attention to detail on a whole other level.
This gave me hope on masking and painting
Work of the masters!

For that satisfying reveal of course! You don't get that when doing things the easy and logical way.

This is dope but would I be able to just use miniature paints instead of my airbrush ?
GOODボタンポチりました。細かな作業、せっかちな自分には真似できません
Dedication to craft. Love your work.
Thats a fancy foot, that any enemy would apreciate being stepped on with. In the face ofcourse.
More power to you for doing this type of work. I just do t have the patience to mask all this stuff but damn does it look clean when it’s done!
I`ll have to remember this while working on my other model kits, which seems like a helpful technique~!
This is metal build quality
OMG... That's Insane!! Great work!!
足の裏の1パーツにこれだけの手間を掛けるなんて凄い!😳
これは凄い👍✨
Still in hobby grade and so wish I could get an air brush. Enjoying spray painting mine but often the paint gets under the tape.
Gold and silver inks for calligraphy give a great metallic look. Letting you not have to remark over that shiny part.
So much effort on just one tiny rarely seen piece.
It requires extreme patience.

what kind of paints are those that you're able to put on panel liner before a gloss coat?

The lar dark grey coat confuses me..
what is that clear liquid you used for the decals?
Mr Mark softer
How long to place the tape without affecting the paint?
Open my mind! 🔥💪🏾
Nice !thanks your teacher,💪
is it space gray after spray the gold color ? the video suddenly jump to after spraying gray
Great work, i admire your patience. What type of tweezers do you use? I can't find any delicate ones that are either too pointed or too thick
The yellow tape in the video is similar to the one I bought, but it will also tear off the previous layer of paint. What is the problem?
what a beautiful work!
What kind of airbrush do you use?
what is the gold that you used? On the internet it says Gaia-033 is primanry color cyan and not gold
Is the running water in the background used to filter the airbrush overspray? I’ve never seen this before
It's water curtain spray booth, using running water to absorb the overspray
what lens are you using? that looks so nice
great jpb 😛
that was like a 6 days job for a single piece
I'm surprised you don't use a easy cutting mat with the Lazer etched grooves for masking. It could speed up your masking x100
Those infi ones are magic
Jogetá vs gogetá vs Broly
What type of product it is and where Can i found it ?
@@MrRorix888 I buy the ones from Newtype. It's called INFINI Easycutting type A
Can masking be done with wall paint tape? I notice the tape in the video is quite thin, is it better to use those kind specific for modeling instead?

You don't want use anything that is too sticky, or else they may peel off the paint
How do u not cut the model ??
What is the purpose of painting grey then black?
Gray Primer, then a dark gray shader, but in this case also used it to fill in a few places recessed in the sole there, then masked that color and did the next colors.

Inspiring skill, fren!
So fancy
How worse will painting with a brush be, for this to worth the enormous effort?
I can see why they don't make centipede Gundams!!! 😊
Hey master N.Maker, do you have paid online courses?❤😂

Holllly thats too much work on a step surface but the results satisying!
i cant even masking my room wall properly when i renovate
Hello. Nice job. I love the sound of your airbrush compressor. Wgat do you use? Would you recommend it? Thks!
So much work and detail on part you won't even see :'(
.3 seconds into me doing this and I would need stitches
excellent...
nice work. but if fiction logic, it seems impractical to paint words on areas that will be abraised.
Its likely going to be displayed on a stand where the souls of the feet are visible and not serving to support the model.
😮
