In this video, I answer the question of: How much does it cost to food shop in Cyprus? I explain what we eat as a family of 4 living in Cyprus from the UK.
Your shopping is absolutely spot on and balanced in my opinion, and for a family of 4, price wise very good going, even for Lidl. Lidl provides everything that other supermarkets have, anyway but at better prices in general. You can always tell when somebody has been bought up in the UK as opposed to Cyprus, you learn better money management because you have to, as I did.
I wouldn't worry, People just pick for the sake of picking! We shop at 10 different shops. But this video is literally called... Food shopping at Lidl, how much does it cost! Cheers for watching!
Hi Tom and family thank you for showing this Vlog that’s another great information as it’s great for everyone to know we only go into Lidl when we are in Cyprus but only very briefly as we do our big shop for a month at another supermarket as well as getting a few bits from other shops
Do the Lidl shops in Cyprus have electrical appliances and stuff? I know in Malta (where my Grandma is from) the Lidl stores all have electrical appliances, literally the same aisle where they sell crisps and BBQ sauce they sell cordless drills lmao. Slight problem is the appliances are imported from Italy so they come with the European plug rather than the Uk plug which Malta uses (and Cyprus uses from what I've heard) so you have to buy loads of adaptors or rewire the plug.
Hi Tom , i listend to one of your videos of two weeks ago i think. Yes , you speak Truth about the situation in the uk. I am from South Liverpool and was saying to my wife that we should seriously consider getting out of the uk . My family are all Greek Cyoriots . I have relitives in paphos and Limassol as well , but i dont relie on them atall . The imfo you gave was good and well exicuted as well . Your shopping analisis was good . Cyprus is really expencive when eating out ,but it depends were you go i guess . I usually watch Cyprus insight on youtube , the guy who presents that is called George and the Crew which is his wife . Thats also interesting to watch also . Ok thanks for the imfo , many thanks 😊👍👌
@christos6651 cheers. My nan was a scouser and I have friends over that way as well. You should be able to move here with ease if your family is Cypriot, I would take legal advice and clarify but all of the criteria I mention probably doesn't apply to you. Yeah we like George and Su, we watched them alot before moving here. They also put us on their channel back in June 😀
It'd be more be more useful if you told us specific prices of individual items such as a large loaf, 2 litres of milk, one kilo of bananas etc. I'm enjoying these vids. Thanks.
I spend double per week as my son eats keto only. @manifestingcocreator3221 our good friends spends €110 per week on fruit and veg... everyone shops to suit themselves! We are on a tight budget at the minute!
When you mentioned Cheddar Cheese, it reminded me of one of the sillier reasons I'd have struggled living in Cyprus. I really don't like Feta orHalumi and prefer mild Scottish cheddar or Red Leicester; neither of which seemed to be available. Never mind, I'll keep Cyprus as a winter holiday: summer temperatures are much too hot for me. Stay happy and keep enjoying yourselves.❤
Everyone mentions it’s too hot. It’s not the temps in Summer that are the problem, they’re on a par with other countries at this latitude. It’s the humidity levels and high dew points (nobody understands these) combined that make it so uncomfortable, not the temperature!
@UKAussie269 yeah the kids eat Lamb Kofta, Chicken Kofta, Chicken Nuggets made of Chicken Breast, Homemade Chicken Burgers. Leo will eat anything. Thomas will eat all the above but is fussy!
That seems very expensive for what you bought 😮 doesn't look like a lot of food for €101..!!! I live in Ireland and we get more here in Lidl for that amount of money....thinking of moving there ourselves but cost of living is putting me off a bit tbh
Hi ,we looking hopefully to move out next year march,my daughter is 12 year 8 she is behind with school work, development delay just slow basically, i have got in touch with TLC school peyia as we would be hopefully living in Tala ,the afterschool club your boys go to what age group does it go up to as i will need something for after school for her ?? Thankyou.we are trying to come out November to see peter he has a buisness in helping us to come from uk.
@helenjones5578 I don't know Peter. I used a lawyer in Paphos. The after school club is for younger kids, however there is a place in peyia that does after school lessons and help with homework, 1 hour for 2 people is €15. It's just near Sugar Bar.
About same has UK the Lidl shop. Thing is , I’m retired so don’t have to make money. What’s your plans for generating the income cycle ? I lived in Spain ,that was a rough ride generating income for my small family . A lot of folk down in the Costas are rig workers .

Lidl in Cyprus is totally overrated. Lacks choice and is expensive for what it offers. Stick to proper supermarkets and get fruit and veg from the market shops. IMO it's the worst place to shop apart from cat food, napkins and toilet roll.
My preference would be alpha mega or philipos. Fruit and veg ..garden of eden, who by the way have a decent butcher counter. Meat is always fresh and the butchers will go out of their way to give you exactly what you ask for. There is also a chicken/egg farm shop which sells fresh eggs and chickens. The chicken breasts are huge and very tasty. (Heading into Paphos town, through Chloraka 1st right after time out kiosk.)

Lidl has Red Leicester from Joseph Heler in standard assortment for less than 10 GBP per kilo.
