Removing the air filter housing really helps, however there is absolutely no benefit to removing the air box. Thanks for the great video by the way, saved me a lot of time. Also a small step / ladder really helps by the way even for me being 6 ft tall. Also wearing gloves like you were using is a big plus, thanks

Thank you Mike for posting this easy to follow video. I would like to add that you disconnect the battery before starting your vehicle after the new EGR valve is installed. More than likely, your check engine light was on before. This will clear the memory. The code for this issue is P0406 exhaust gas recirculation sensor. In my case, I did not need to remove the upper intake air box that connects to the throttle body. I had plenty of room just removing the one for the air filter. Also, I am short and needed a small step ladder.
Yeah I got no clue why the upper plenum/air box was removed if you remove the hose section secured by the hose clamps. You could remove the whole assembly in one piece but it makes no sense to remove the upper if you are removing the connection to the lower.
I only get parts from 1A auto now. They have great parts and the prices are awesome. The parts always come in super fast and as advertised. I convinced my brother to get parts from 1A auto and he was really happy with the service too.

great video thanks. Wondering why you needed to take off the air intake cover? All the airbox stuff coming out helped, but the intake (Hemi 5.7 logoed) piece. It is not anywhere in the way. _ just a comment.

Would the EGR being bad make the truck just randomly shut off as I am driving it? It’s the only code I have for my check engine light and last night it just shut off when I was going 30 mph. Started it back up and no problem the rest of my way home.
After replacement, would clearing the code suffice? I've seen some forums suggest a PCM reset since it's already learned to function with the funked up EGR.
I think your kit should come with the new bolts as well . To be real that is the only reason I didnt purchase the EGR valve from you. I decided to go with a competitor because they gave me all new bolts as well as the gaskets.
I said the same thing, in fact I looked it up and those bolts that hold the egr tube on are just m6-1.00 bolts rated for a max of 8ft lbs. The service manual between 2002-2005 doesn't list a torque spec at all but the 2006 manual does and it does say 20 ft lbs but take all that with a grain of salt because those manuals have misprints, I've been there before with disastrous results!
Ok I replaced my EGR Valve and everything was fine for a couple of days then I noticed it was starting to run rough like it had a miss fire, then tonight while driving slow I noticed the RPM would drop and go back up, and the check engine light came on, so I read the code and it came up P0404 which said that the ECM detected the EGR Valve or Senser is out of specification range or it's performance has gone out of specification parameters, Can Anyone Help Me.........
Just installed my egr valve and truck is now making a gurgling sound... made the same thing with an O' Reilly's valve... idk what the problem is now... faulty connector?
When I tightened the air hose part with 8mm bolts , the bolts tightened didn't need 24lbs. It spun after 18 lbs. Rather weird.. any suggestion ? Truck runs great ...
The torque specification listed is 20 ft lbs not 24 ft lbs however the service manual also doesn't break down the torque spec for the egr tube. Basically it's a misprint. Those egr tube bolts can't handle more than 7.7 ft lbs
Question please I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 v6 3.7 it has a p0300 code says multiple cylinder misfire do you think the egr valve like in this video could be bad. I’m thinking coil pack or spark plugs but I had the hood open and went inside for about an hour and it rained for about a half hour and inside the engine got wet but after I noticed i did have the battery terminals unplugged and I blew all out with air compressor? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

We are trying to diy our egr valve. We have a problem with the flange. The hole is completely stopped up. Tried scraping it with flathead screwdriver and a little white powder comes off. We noticed a couple of places on engine have dirt dobber nest. The engine was rebuilt for us by a neighbor mechanic. Our idle is what brought attention and the auto parts store put diagnostics on it and said erg was the problem. Trying to save money by doing it ourselves. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Is it possible that my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 could have a bad egr valve with turning the check engine light on? Also Same truck not talking about the emissions charcoal canister but there is another component down their that is part of the fuel or emissions system but I can’t remember what it is called not talking about the vapor canister purge solenoid something else down there

Seeking serious advice. my 2003 Dodge Ram pickup 4.7 liter has a mysterious stalling out problem. it stalls out at stop lights and stop signs as I take off once in awhile it will stall out as I'm driving. I replaced the power control module and it still does it can somebody help me figure out this dine out mystery

Your 20ft lb torque specs are junk. That may be correct for bolting it to the head. Snapped a new bolt off in a brand new EGR. Thank God it wasn't the bolt on the head. Big thumb down.

Replaced it in my 05' Ram 1500 and the light is still on.. Code is still in the system 2000 miles later and not going away. Thoughts ?
Depends on the code, it could be a vacuum leak which is why it's still on.

Heat them bolts up and you don't have to worry about em breaking off as much
