- Oh no! After a six month hiatus, the Wheel of the Worst is back to torture the gang with more horrible VHS tapes that nobody should ever be forced to actually watch. LOOK OUT!
Years ago Mike and Jay realized they had the same imaginary friend. After a magical night of sculpting him out of Star Wars figurines and leftover sandwich meats, Rich Evans came to life and now brings joy to us all!
Much better than Rem Lazar's origin story. That'll give you nightmares well into your adult therapy sessions.

It's pretty deep when you stip and think about it. A religion, which is basically just imagination, motivated a group of people to commit an act that most would not and could not pull off. So yeah, imagination brought down the twin towers.

Heifer accidentally steals a big truck full of plants and pawns it off on Rocko, then the plot of the episode is him trying to figure out what to do with them. It shows Rocko either flipping thru a book called that or he pulls out that video tape off his shelf and says "It's about time I watch this."

I've probably seen this video dozens of times. I watch the old ones all the time. Helps lull me to sleep. Not saying they're boring. I love RLM, but the ones I've seen already are so familiar that they help my mind quiet down. Before they started Best of the worst, I used to do the same thing with the Star Wars reviews. I still do watch those sometimes also.
Really there is something incredibly rewatchable about RLM's stuff.

After re-watching this episode once again, I have to say: despite the abject weirdness of Rem Lazar, I can't help but feel that it's actually one of very few tapes that has been viewed on this show that feels *genuine*. I can't shake the feeling that those who made it had the best intentions at heart, and if you squint a little and ignore some of the stranger lyrical moments and weird plot elements, you can actually see something that feels kind of sweet and innocent. Also Rem Lazar's singing voice is honestly great, his baritone has a soothing and comforting quality.
Perhaps I'm trying too hard NOT to be cynical, but the more I watch this episode, the more become convinced of my feelings.
Between not voting for Rem Lazar and voting for Shark Exorcist Mike should loose his voting privileges.
His contrarian picks are delightful. Plus I think "Rem Lazar will never cum again" was Rich's finest moment, what a perfect build up and conclusion.

If anything, it seems counter intuitive if not outright illogical that the double O in "loose" is pronounced in a shorter, less emphasized way than the single one in "lose". As such, I too kept making this very same mistake for years until technology progressed and started correcting me. Because people never did.

*I was never sure what to say when people asked me what my favorite movie was, I mean there were lots of films I liked, but I always felt incomplete , different from the others because i had missed out on some major cinematic experience or something , that is until I popped in the tape and was introduced to my new best friend, and hero, Rem.*
*The movie has it all, action, adventure, mullets, singing, dancing, a scary floating head, a creepy shack in the woods, unfit parents, sexual tension, and even a black guy.*
*I am proud that this movie is not only a part of my collection, but rarely leaves the VCR itself. Its a great movie to watch on your own or with your friends, but if you watch it a lot on your own you may not have that many friends anyways. Thank you Phil W, for bringing such a wonderful gift into my life no i never had a friend like you!*

the train story is actually incredibly fascinating for a number of reasons. for one thing people rallied around the busdriver, as the crossing was notorious for the angularity of the country road which met it, the one that the bus was driving on. not to mention the temperature on the day of the accident fogging up the bus windows- it was colorado after all. he was acquitted. around twenty children died. craziest of all, the father of one fatally injured child and another who nearly met the same end, two of his eldest, still teenagers, died months later in a collision with a pickup truck running a red light. one of his sons was supposed to be on the bus the day of the crash, and on the day two of his brothers died he happened to have to take the bus rather than drive, not merely that, it was his first bus ride. a year after the accident the father donated to have the train crossing plowed and relocated onto a nearby road that intersected at a near right angle.
I think the new goal of Wheel of the Worst should be to take all the footage and re-cut it to make a narrative story.

So he's actually the father of all this, with web series like RLM creates and maybe in a parallel universe, Creating Rem Lezar led to a different RLM: Rem Lezar Media! There's the true conspiracy!

The beginning of Rem Lezar sounds like a good idea for a horror movie. A couple kids decide to build their imaginary friend then it comes to life and murders people or something
Christopher McDonald take it a step further, make it seem the imaginary friend is killing them and have the twist be the dreaming kids. And they also somehow commit 9/11 which in itself sounds like a movie idea
Killing their enemies, which at first seems rad, but then it kills their parents for grounding them or something. Like Heathers, in a way
They have to stop Rem Lezar from murdering kids, but as he dies he's like "I will have my revenge!" and then it cuts to like 10 years later when the kids are grown up a bit and they're out having fun, and then like both of them just get an image of Rem Lezar, like they just feel his presence. And then... FUCKIN' 9/11 HAPPENS AND KILLS ONE OF THE KIDS!!!
The rest of the film is just an It-style adventure to re-live the surviving kid's adventure through central park to find and murder Rem Lezar for what he's done!

I recognized it from when the group/website Everything is Terrible used clips of it on one of their videos ages ago. SO it's nice to see more of it in this review haha.
Rem Lezar Facts: Rem Lezar was written and seemingly produced by Scott Zakarin, who also plays the antagonist Vorock. My guess back in the day was that he was probably about 18-20 when the movie was made (1989). He's since gone on to produce some basic D-list stuff like low budget horror movies and TV movies. If you watch to the end of the credits, you'll see that the movie was funded by some kind of psychological foundation. My theory has always been that Zakarin was some kind of New York arts high school teenager who got a movie produced using familial connections, under the auspices of creating a kind of psychologically educational children's video about bullying. For a fun treat, Google "Rem Lezar snickers commercial". The actor who plays Rem was in a Snickers commercial in the mid-2000's, playing a similar role. I always assumed the ad company must have known about his Rem past. Otherwise, it's too big of a coincidence.
Yeah, I was going to suggest that this may have been originally intended as a release for schools and hospitals to assist in supporting kids with trauma. If not, all bets are off.

Completely forgot about making this comment, but I know all this because I found Rem Lezar in shrink wrap at a thrift store as a teen. As you might imagine, it was mind blowing. This was the early days of UA-cam when Ebaums was more popular. We felt that we owed it to the world to spread Rem Lezar, but we were too lazy to figure out how to get a VHS on the internet in, like, 2003. Anyway, the fact that I found it in a thrift shop in Pennsylvania shrink-wrapped for some reason implied to me that these were given out for free or something. It wasn't like there were a ton of them like you see when a warehouse gets rid of overstock. It was just one in perfect condition, like a kid got it as a gift. Anyway, as we all know the story has a happy ending, because Rem became a staple of the Found Footage Festival and now RLM. But do yourself a favor: look up Kids Against Crime. You can currently see a full ep on Vimeo.
The Little boy is also a well known B movie actor. He’s from Flushing,NY. The Little girl sadly passed away in early 2017 from Ovarian Cancer at the untimely age of 39. She was from East Meadow,NY.
