- Special guest star Freddie Williams takes on three terrible movies with Mike, Jay, and Rich Evans. What will happen on the brand new Best of the Worst set?!?!? Probably the same thing that usually happens. Mike drinks too much and bullies people and says outrageous things. Jay also reveals he don't know what a turret is.
I met Freddie here in Reno at a comic con. We talked for a while and he’s a really great guy. I walked off without paying for my prints and when I realized what I did I returned and apologized but before I could get my wallet out he said his girlfriend and him had agreed to let me have them for free. He gained a fan for life.

I went to Reno for the first time a couple of years ago for a Weird Al concert. I expected it to be like Las Vegas, but was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was, and Weird Al was awesome as always.

As an active duty service member, I can attest to the dedication to realism Cybernator had. Military bases and offices are indeed shitty enough to have a stenciled arrow pointing to biohazard rooms with little toy tanks on the desks (also the broken mirror in the bathroom of the military base in Metalbeast).
Jay has an encyclopedic knowledge of Horror stuff equal to Mike and Rich's Star trek knowledge
He really was on fire in this episode.

Yep, Michael Foley. He is a martial artist- that’s his actual job, he owns a school. The style is Koden Kan Karate Do, a combination style mostly made up of Danzan-Ryū Ju Jitsu, Japanese-Hawaiian karate, and American Kickboxing. As for stories from filming, sure! The contacts were so godawful that he could barely see anything and for safety reasons couldn’t wear them during the fight scenes- that’s why he wore sunglasses at one point. Somewhere I have a Polaroid of him in costume that scarred me as a small child.

An absolutely fantastic episode. From Rich's amazing carpentry work to some solid enjoyably-riffable films, to the discussion of Mike's-now-Jay's sweater. Freddie was a fantastic guest as well. This is one I will be coming back to again and again. And at least now if one of the guys decides he wants to host a tabletop campaign, they have a table big enough for it.
I was rather happy to see a close-up of Def-Con 4 in the establishing shots. That's a VHS I can remember staring at for a long time in the video store when I was a kid, too young and chicken to rent it myself. Which apparently is another example of a dog turd in beautiful wrapping paper. And also takes place in my home province?

PANTHER SQUAD is a Belgian/Spanish/French production... co-produced by the leading actress. The spaceship's footage comes from a Japanese Movie and TV Series: Message from Space: Galactic Wars aka San Ku Kai. ...
I knew that space footage looked familiar. Plus the spaceship footage manages to have better production value than the actual panther squad footage
Sadly I cannot find Panther Squad anywhere in english. UA-cam has one with russian dub over german audio, and Vimeo another with a french (I think?) dub, but no torrents or anything else anywhere. Weird that nobody digitized this gem yet from a VHS. Guess I'll have to do it...

hehe I just learned that I share my birthday with Freddie!! (May 30th) :B also, Jay bluntly admitting he was wearing Mike's clothes (and througoutly embarrassing the latter) has got to be one of the cutest moments of this show.
