You could probably get one free on Craigslist these days. Every other instrument goes up in value over time, but nobody actually knows how to MOVE an organ so they tend to be willing to give them to you if you'll get it the fuck out of their house

At some point in the late 70s/early 80s my grandfather bought an electric organ and taught himself how to play, eventually becoming competent enough to perform all the standard carols on Christmas. While I don't ever recall any Dennis VHS tapes, my grandfather did have a couple of books with Dennis on the cover. They were either sheet music or maybe a "Teach Yourself the Organ" type of thing... don't really recall precise details, been like 35 years... and grandpa, the organ and those books are long gone. I can't say this story is true, but I believe it to be true. In the mid 90s, I was in a mall In Oklahoma, that had a Wurlitzer Organ store. There was a guy playing an organ right outside the store. I'm pretty sure it was Dennis. It's the hair, nobody wears their hair like that anymore, and it sticks out when I see it. I watched him for a minute then went on. I'm pretty sure I saw Dennis live in concert.

I can't say this story is true, but I believe it to be true. In the mid 90s, I was in a mall In Oklahoma, that had a Wurlitzer Organ store. There was a guy playing an organ right outside the store. I'm pretty sure it was Dennis. It's the hair, nobody wears their hair like that anymore, and it sticks out when I see it. I watched him for a minute then went on. I'm pretty sure I saw Dennis live in concert.

Incredibly, Dennis is still going and apparently has been going since the 50's. He has a website where his (no doubt, self-written) biography compares his keyboard talents to Fred Astaire's dancing which is weird because, well, I'd at least heard of Fred Astaire.
Ignoring his many accomplishments, such as being named keyboard entertainer of the year twice-in-a-row by 'Keyboard world magazine' (an apparently short-lived magazine not to be confused with the much more popular contemporary music magazine 'Keyboard') he has also released a Joke book. That's probably the funniest thing about it.
