It must be a great satisfaction seeing your 1971-self, play music in public, this is something almost none of us can experience.

True story...I had a chance to see Melanie in concert way back around 1977. She was advertised for a concert in Dothan, Alabama. My girlfriend and I bought tickets for the show and made the 170-mile round trip. Sadly, she was being promoted as the warm-up act to a group I'd never heard of before, but she was absolutely the reason for our journey. At the time, we both thought it was strange that Melanie wasn't the headliner, but we went anyway!
To our dismay, when the time came for Melanie to take the stage, someone took the mic and unapologetically announced that Melanie wouldn't be performing that night, and went on to introduce the unknown band.
We were crushed!!! And, we didn't stay for the performance of the group we didn't know.
To this day, I feel we were scammed and that it was not a fault of Melanie.

I must have been living on a different planet because I haven't heard this song before today - or at least I don't think I have.
It has a sense of urgency that reminds me of an old fashioned folk song from my yoof.
