Great video, including the troubleshooting tips. For some reason this one looks better than the 35xxSP (at least on paper), and the non clicky buttons. Still I hope they'll make a 4 inch version.
@tvshacker thanks. I wouldn't be surprised if Anbernic released an RG40XX SP lol but if Miyoo ever decided tp do that it would be a long time away I would guess
Thanks for showing how to save the controller file. I’ve changed it a lot, similar to you, it makes total sense to have it mapped to the left side of the face buttons, haven’t seen a lot of UA-camr mention it. I just can’t get them to save properly.
A good tip for navigating foreign menus like these ones is to use the camera mode in the Google Translate app. This lets you point your phone at the screen and get a translation of what the on-screen text says. Is ya a Newfoundlander? Just a guess from the accent. Very cool to stumble apon a local tech channel from the algorithm. You got yourself a sub either way.
I actually love that It’s closer in size to the actual gameboy sp. The only thing is every single one of miyoo’s products uses terrible plastic that just feels so bad. I really wish they would use different plastic for their future handhelds. I remember getting my mini plus and it felt like a toy compared to the 35XX.
Yeah I know what you mean. I like the texture of the plastic on this one, but it's not as good as the build quality of the SP that's for sure. Definitely room for improvement
Very nice accent, so interesting how people from that area of Canada share some accent characteristics with the Irish. Very confusing to listen to as someone from the UK. (also thanks for the video super informative etc.)
Thank you. Anbernic's software had a better quality release with a reliable SD card. And Bluetooth. So I'd rate the Anbernic's stock version higher on the scale if doing a rated comparison like that (see below) But like I said in the video, because I like joystick games, I may be grabbing the Miyoo when I'm out in the go more for convenience. Here's a rating I'll give them based on their stock releases before custom firmware options: Anbernic 8/10 Miyoo 7/10 Custom firmware definitely makes the Anbernic an easy 9/10 or 10/10 so I'm curious to see what happens with the Miyoo.. but still, no Bluetooth is something that some people will be disappointed in. And also a lot of people will hate the joysticks and prefer the Anbernic
Nice review! Love how you got all three GBA SP clones on display for comparison. Never thought I'd be saying this but I actually like the design of the PowKiddy V90 over the ANBERNIC and Miyoo. Especially with the V90 having two speakers.
Thank you 😄 I would have loved to see an updated version of the V90. Love that thing lol it's how I got into these videos after my friend gifted me one and I wanted to mod the dpad with tape 😆
Great thorough review. You have my sub. This device is awesome. As an avid user of the RG35xxsp, this device packs a punch when it comes to N64, DC, and PSP performance wise. Has played all of the higher demanding games, I have thrown at it. All of the negative comments about this device is premature imo because once cfw starts rolling out for this device, it will topple the rg35xxsp and I love that handheld. MinUI already has already rolled out cfw for this. excited for the future of this device.
Thanks for the sub 👍🦇 and yeah I'm very excited about it too. I'm glad we now have 2 solid clamshell designs to reach for. I'll be taking this everywhere (except near the fire pit 😆)
@@batpixel Me too. It replaced my rg35xxsp as my go to. I also read somewhere that MagicX is rolling out a clamshell device very soon. I can't recall where I read it but if I come across again, I will link it here.
It does have Bluetooth in hardware it's just not implemented in software for some reason. Gamma has demonstrated Bluetooth controls working on CFW in the retro handhelds discord. Whats your accent?
Yeah they missed out on taking advantage of that. It's a bit bizarre. But I guess the know cfw developers will be able to do that for them maybe. I'm excited to see what is released for it I'm from Newfoundland, Canada 😆
Thank you. There's not many videos on it yet so I thought making a longer vid would answer most people's questions at least until they can get their hands on one
They are accurate in that they don't have cardinal snapping. And they have some resistance which helps that. They feel good actually, despite being in large holes.. and are small in size. I tried moving Mario around slowly on N64 and it was pretty smooth, but had some very slight jitters. But very playable. The joysticks have a bit of a mechanical feel if you're moving them around slowly, it's not 100% a smooth gliding feel. I would say they are okay for casual gaming, but they're not a good option for long play sessions at all
I got a few hours out of it during filming. But it dropped a little quicker than I expected. I tend to stay away from battery testing as it's variable for the user. I would say it's average at best compared to other handhelds
@leonardomatheus1888 well when I started filming it was about 75% full and on 7/10 brightness. After a few hours I had to charge it up. So it seems like the ballpark of 4-8 sounds about right
I’m worried about the build quality things. What if it gets stick drift due to those huge holes. I live in a dusty area. And the paint chipping off. That shouldn’t be happening… I really love everything else about it. I want a more powerful and aesthetic GBA SP style handheld and that’s what it is. I wonder if I should wait for Miyoo to improve the build quality or wait for more GBA SP style clamshell handhelds down the line. I’d love to hear your thoughts on these concerns of mine. And thanks for pointing out the flaws.
I mean it's a little early to see how it will hold up over time, but those joystick holes look like they are going go gather up a lot of dirt 😆 these handhelds can be hit or miss for build quality, even when they restock them. I wouldn't expect perfection by any means. But overall it's great for what it is The market at this price range used to be limited to PS1.. now we're at DS.. PSP.. etc. So it will depend on if the price of components decreases for more powerful options. I'm actually surprised we don't have more clamshells at higher price points with the amount of handhelds that are flooding the market now lol so at the rate clamshells are releasing, there's a chance you might be waiting a long time for a more powerful one
@ thanks for the response! I will wait and see if people complain about stick drift. I just want one to play GBA rom hacks, especially of Pokémon. And Gameboy color games. Both also with shaders or color correction through Retroarch, along with pixel grids. So I’m not looking for a super powerful one. Just one with good build quality, beautiful aesthetic GBA SP style look (which the Miyoo Flip does have), small size. Also good durability, so no mushy buttons, stick drift, color wearing off easily etc.
Question -Is onion os supported on it? (Like on the mm+ ?) in other words can i take my sim card from my mm+ and transfer it to this and have the same OS experience?
No not yet. You may end up with something wonky happening. We'll have to wait for custom firmwares to release for this device. I'm currently trying out MinUI (although it's limited) and I'll post a video about it on Friday
I wouldn't say that no. It feels good for a flip device, I like how it feels for a smaller handheld. But bigger handhelds will feel more ergonomic in your hands. The bigger RG35XX SP feels better ergonomically for example. The joysticks are not good for long sessions. The other buttons are great though 👌 I love how the grey Flip feels in my hands and the build quality of it feels solid, but apparently other colors have a different feel and the build quality is a bit inconsistent
It's not as comfortable as the rg35sp due to its smaller size. But it's okay if you're playing games using the dpad for a long time. The sticks are not designed for long play though 😆
That's exactly I was asking for, the sp with silent buttons, smaller in size and.. well.. sticks. I was on the "no sticks" camp at first, but some dreamcast games just get too hard to play with dpad only, so it's good to have it for these games. As long as sticks don't get in the way. Good job Miyoo. Now let's hope it gets Onion OS'ish cfw and it's more or less perfect
@ yeah, powkiddy kinda missed the opportunity to come up with renewed v90. The only real problems of v90 were the performance, screen resolution and inability to properly shutdown. These could easily be fixed and sold for 60-70 bucks
I would have loved to see that. But to be honest I wasn't a big fan of the quality Powkiddy has released that I've tried since then. I'm kind of glad Anbernic took it on and Miyoo's is here
@@batpixel if powkiddy reads this, I think they still have a chance by releasing "true sp", with the 3:2 screen. I am sure true sp fans will appreciate that 👌🏻😌 For up to ps1, I'd say 3326 can be enough, for gba is more than that. More clamshells is always welcome, but they must stand out
I'm not seeing anything like that. If you email batpixelchannel@gmail.com I can reply with some photos of the board There is a chip that I can't identify that has a blurry QR code on it and says: SEC 248 K4F8E30 4HBMGCJ EGYLDJUEH
@@batpixel I rewatched you opening the case and found a few things more. The chip you mentioned on the message is a RAM chip. The one below that and the SOC (ESMT something) is a SPI Nand Flash (most likely) and he one on the top left of the board is the power management chip. The wifi chip and antena are located on the backside of the screen, as i should have guessed right of the bat. I verified that on another youtuber's video. Unfortunately the information on the chip must have been scrubbed by the manufacturer. Anyway, thanks for your answer and lets hope somebody ssh to the machine to take a better look at it.
You'll have a bit better performance on more demanding consoles. But cfw developers will improve the emulators and things too. The stock version of this leaves a lot to be desired
This grey SNES one in my video & yellow version have that matte plastic texture. Apparently the white & black colors have the smooth texture and possibly lower build quality?
I did notice some blemishes on mine when it arrived. If you get one I would say to expect there to be some imperfections. But I didn't notice any peeling like that
@batpixel If it does work with C to C cables then that most likely means they properly installed two 5.1k ohm pull down resistors. So I wouldn't really worry about using normal cables as the device will always charge at 5V (and up to 2-3A depending on the circuit used). They did the same thing on Miyoo Mini V4 and it works well with all my fast chargers. I usually just use it with my Steam Deck charger and it always does 5V/2A
I know it's stupid question but can you run genshin, wuthering waves, zenless zone or honkai star rail on this? I like how it's light weight, screen is above so u don't get stiff neck and cheap. I know there's retroid mini for ayn for gacha games but I'm curious with this one.
You may be able to run some games that you own through Portmaster, usually custom firmware options people develop online for these handhelds allow you to do that. But for the specific games you mentioned? I'm not sure, you'd have to try it out using Portmaster. The device itself isn't really meant for modern games, as it has limited performance
No I wouldn't say that. It's not bad, but the xxsp has the size advantage which makes it more comfortable in your hands. Using the joysticks for a long time on the Flip wouldn't be very comfortable either
It just means the handheld is newly released, so it will take a while for custom firmware developers to release new firmware online to replace the stock version. It remains to be seen what custom firmware will offer, but it will have major improvements
For anyone wanting to get one, in the past miyoo has always responded to my messages thru their aliexpress page and happily told me the exact time of the next drop and I assume they will still do the same
Thank you. I'd also like to add that I've already seen resellers jacking the price way up. Not worth getting ripped off, just wait for the next batches
Do you have any 8 way cardinal snapping on the joysticks like Anbernic? Are they linear or go to 100% right away? Eg. In Mario 64 can he slowly walk im 360 degrees. Eg. In Goldeneye when using sniper scope is ir easy to aim gradually or does it jump and snap to 8 ways?
No snapping at all. I can control Mario very smoothly and at different speeds 👌 You can see the same thing in the joystick calibration part of the video as well
I've been watching the handheld emulation market for years now. For so long, devices have been way too expensive for what I consider sub-par performance with unattractive designs and too many compromises. Now, though, the time has come for me to buy one. I was eyeing the RG35XX SP with a side of something with twin sticks. The Miyoo Flip just turned 2 purchases into one.
I'm glad you found one that you'll enjoy 😄 there's a lot of love from the community for Miyoo so they will produce some really nice custom firmware and I've also heard that Miyoo is improving build quality
fixes: add membranes to keep dirt out in joysticks, add magnets to keep lid crispy closed, make the d-pad fatter, add bluetooth, SAVE YOUR MONEY, Miyoo Flip + invetiBLE
Those are great suggestions 👍 there is lots of room for improvement for sure. Apparently this has Bluetooth, but the stock firmware doesn't implement it for some reason. They had an opportunity there. Hopefully cfw fixes that
I'll be curious to see how it feels in hand. The smaller size is appealing but I wonder if it will be less comfortable compared to the xxsp. Not that I play on these handhelds for all that long anyway. Not a fan of joysticks for devices that barely play anything that can use them. I suppose those would be ok for psx dual shock controls. I usually don't bother with dreamcast and n64 on these devices since they're barely playable for the most part.
I think the SP is more comfortable because it's bigger like you said. And the joysticks do not offer comfort whatsoever on the Flip lol but if you don't bother with the sticks I have a feeling you'll have a preference for the SP
Yeah hopefully soon. Resellers are already starting to rip people off 🤦♂️ there is also a website I have collaborated with a bunch that are taking pre-orders soon. They usually have a reasonable markup of like $10. They are called MechDIY and my discount code is Batpixel on their site. May be an option. But Miyoo has posted that they will keep restocking
I have the same issue as pico-8 with Sonic Adventure 2 where it just shows a black screen and goes back to the main menu. Others have commented that it is performing great with most games, and I've seen another video of someone playing Sonic Adventure 2. You might want to wait for cfw to release for a better experience
With Miyoo Flip being more powerful than Ambernic RG35XXSP I was wondering if it really can play higher-end games a bit better? Like God of War. And if it can handle some less challenging PS2 games.
No it's not that powerful at least with the stock firmware. You may be able to get away with some games on Portmaster when custom firmware releases. It'll be interesting to see what is developed for it though, maybe developers can push the chipset a bit further like you said
@@batpixel I agree, I was just wondering where the other guy would put them, since he thinks the location is “hilarious”. It’s still a dpad centric device so you can’t put them on top, and the joysticks can’t get any higher due to the space the mechanism takes up underneath the shell. I think miyoo chose the best option with how compact of a device it is
Just a guess but I reckon that to play pico-8 games you’ll have to buy the pico-8 emulator and install the files properly, this is how it should work as the fake RetroArch cores for it don’t work as well, and it’s good to support the devs, but I have no idea how you’d install the correct pico-8 files on here 😂 there’s a MuOS pico-8 guide, that might somehow be helpful
Also does it ship with portmaster games preloaded? Like Celeste and stardew valley? It looks like it, and that’s not great. But is it cool to see that the device should be powerful enough to play it
Yeah you're right about pico-8. It's just loaded on there along with the ports you mentioned. Some of them not tested. But yeah, I agree they shouldn't ship with those at all. Hopefully that changes, but I try to stick to showing old retro games only
You can see me playing them in the video and they are running well. But custom firmware developers may be able to push the performance more as the stock firmware, emulators, and even the game files themselves are not the best
My question is how is this gonna last long term. I see people talk about handhelds and some people say things like “it worked for a month and then stopped working”. Idk man it’s like I’m hesitant to buy bc I don’t wanna buy something that lasts for 1-3 months and then self destructs 😂
This is why I talk about getting a reliable SD card like a Sandisk or Samsung card. Also, custom firmware from the online community that you can install for free fixes these problems. Just make sure when you receive one to back up all the files from the SD card to your computer first so you don't lose anything. It's best to use a more reliable SD card reader instead of the one that comes with this. Also, when you save a game, it creates a save file. So it's good to back up those save files every now and then. Some custom firmwares will allow you to backup your save files automatically through wifi with apps like Syncthing. But yes, you can make these handhelds reliable without them self destructing lol the people who are saying that are likely using the original SD cards that come with it
You're having the opposite experience of me 😂 I got the SNES design and I like how it feels. But the software was not working great. Did you get a different color? Apparently the build quality is different depending on the color as well. If you got the SNES one, I'm curious to know what you find cheap about how it feels?
@batpixel i got the white one... every time I open and close it, it feels like a tonka toy, it just feels like its going to snap off each time... maybe because I'm just so use the the anbernic version feeling smoother. Plus the buttons felt like they were stuck a little in the beginning. It almost seemed like there was dirt under the buttons. But I'm to afraid to open mine up.
thanks for letting me know. The white one definitely has a different feel to it. I had a similar issue with my R2 button, but it loosened up. Hopefully yours does the same. Opening it up isn't too bad, but there may be videos released by UA-camrs that may offer simple fixes for some of the issues you're having
I got mine from the Miyoo Official Store on Aliexpress. I know Amazon has merchant stores from all over, so I wouldn't have any way of confirming that for you. But the original cost should be around $80 USD + shipping. Legit websites that I have collaborated with such as MechDIY will have pre-orders up for maybe a little more money as a markup. I have a discount code you can use on their website Batpixel. But if you're seeing really high prices those are resellers taking advantage of the limited supply. But Miyoo will restock soon
Nice vid. Do you mind me asking where you're from? You're accent is so weird to me. It sounds american with a dose of Irish thrown in there? I'm Irish by the way......
The included SD card adapters are good for maybe 1TB of data transfer before they crap out. I've killed every included SD card adapter in short order with 512GB cards. You're better off just buying a quality SD card adapter and not risking your SD card with the cheap crap.
I at least started hearing about it in 2023 when I started making Powkiddy V90 videos after my friend gifted it to me. I also heard Miyoo is a smaller company compared to Anbernic. But you're right, they never fully delivered on this, and I think they know the community will improve this a lot with firmware releases like the Miyoo Mini/Mini Plus. But the build quality could have been better for sure. I think Anbernic really took advantage of the hype in 2024 and gave people what they wanted
@@batpixelnot sure if this is the same, but Miyoo has been known to send out the absolute worst card readers and micro SD cards. The recommendation is not to use them at all, just copy the files.
@Cujobob yeah the card is junk. If they have the same reputation for readers like you said, then it's likely the same. I mentioned backing up the files somewhere because of the junk card, but the files on this device are not great either, for example some games are chinese and some emulators are broken. People are better off building their own anyway. It's annoying handheld companies keep sending out bad files like that too 😆 it wouldn't be hard to fix that at least
That's because the SP has been out for a long time. This will drop in price the same. I was talking about the features, not the current price comparison
I've seen the resellers jacking up the price which sucks. But when this went on sale, I had set an alarm to get up in the middle of the night to get one. I had time to choose for a little bit before it sold out. I think the white & grey colors both sold out after a short time, but the black & yellow versions were available for a good while. Maybe if it released during the day time in North America it would have sold out faster. But they have posted that they will keep restocking, so keep an eye on their social media & Miyoo Official Store on Aliexpress. Someone else commented that if you message them on Aliexpress they may reply when it will be restocked again. It should cost around $80 USD

Got yourself a new sub can’t wait till mine arrives
Thank you 🦇 what color did you choose? Let me know your thoughts on it after you get it
@ I think only yellow was left, so got that. Traveling with my XXSP now was playing FF9 on my flight.
Nice 😆 the yellow reminds me of the Powkiddy V90. Loved that thing
Great review, buddy!
Canadian!? It's how we say about, I can easily tell a fellow Canadian, hope I'm not wrong lol.
Subscribed!
Thanks by 😆 Newfoundland
Very nice accent, so interesting how people from that area of Canada share some accent characteristics with the Irish. Very confusing to listen to as someone from the UK.
(also thanks for the video super informative etc.)
@thom6843 😂😂 thanks. Yeah I get comments from people in the UK all the time asking what is going on there. Glad you enjoyed the vid 👌
Good video
can you rate anbernic sp and this one?
Anbernic 10 out of?
Miyoo.... 10 out of?
Here's a rating I'll give them based on their stock releases before custom firmware options:
Anbernic 8/10
Miyoo 7/10
Custom firmware definitely makes the Anbernic an easy 9/10 or 10/10 so I'm curious to see what happens with the Miyoo.. but still, no Bluetooth is something that some people will be disappointed in. And also a lot of people will hate the joysticks and prefer the Anbernic
Awesome review! Thanks for the slick review and good tips. Can’t wait to hear about cfw for this.
Thank you I appreciate that. I'm really interested to see what is developed for this 👌
Nice review!
Interesting. Thanks 👌
Very tempted to get this, think I’ll wait for knulli or another Batocera fork to come out for it before pulling the trigger.
Yeah you're not missing out on a lot with the stock firmware 😆
It does have Bluetooth in hardware it's just not implemented in software for some reason. Gamma has demonstrated Bluetooth controls working on CFW in the retro handhelds discord.
Whats your accent?
Yeah they missed out on taking advantage of that. It's a bit bizarre. But I guess the know cfw developers will be able to do that for them maybe. I'm excited to see what is released for it
I'm from Newfoundland, Canada 😆
awesome information and video. I subbed. DId you notice the sound of the hinge itself?
Thank you 😄🦇 yeah the hinge makes a sound when you move it. Almost like if the plastic was rubbing
You earn yourself a new sub! 💪 Miyoo unwittingly supporting small creators by not sending this device out to all the Anbernic shills
Thank you for the sub I appreciate that 🦇 I lucked out receiving this in the mail early + a lot of people are at CES this weekend
@ don't let the truth get in the way of a good story
Great job, thanks for the review!
I appreciate that 👌🦇
Nice review, this is very in depth.
Thank you. There's not many videos on it yet so I thought making a longer vid would answer most people's questions at least until they can get their hands on one
I love the sticks because ds emulation is super annoying without either sticks or a touchscreen, and l3 and r3 are super helpful as hotkeys
Yeah, they have this setup so the stylus is the left stick by default
I've heard from some people that the thumbsticks aren't the best quality. Have your been fine or do they feel cheap
I would say they are okay for casual gaming, but they're not a good option for long play sessions at all
no battery testing?
I got a few hours out of it during filming. But it dropped a little quicker than I expected. I tend to stay away from battery testing as it's variable for the user. I would say it's average at best compared to other handhelds
@batpixel But not even an estimated time? I mean around 4-8h like the anbernic rg35xx h?
@leonardomatheus1888 well when I started filming it was about 75% full and on 7/10 brightness. After a few hours I had to charge it up. So it seems like the ballpark of 4-8 sounds about right
I’m worried about the build quality things. What if it gets stick drift due to those huge holes. I live in a dusty area.
And the paint chipping off. That shouldn’t be happening…
I really love everything else about it.
But overall it's great for what it is
The market at this price range used to be limited to PS1.. now we're at DS.. PSP..

Let me know if you decide on one 👌
Question -Is onion os supported on it? (Like on the mm+ ?) in other words can i take my sim card from my mm+ and transfer it to this and have the same OS experience?
No not yet. You may end up with something wonky happening. We'll have to wait for custom firmwares to release for this device. I'm currently trying out MinUI (although it's limited) and I'll post a video about it on Friday
@ okk keep us posted
Hey Man!!!.....how is it the ergonomics?....better than miyoo plus?
I wouldn't say that no. It feels good for a flip device, I like how it feels for a smaller handheld. But bigger handhelds will feel more ergonomic in your hands. The bigger RG35XX SP feels better ergonomically for example. The joysticks are not good for long sessions. The other buttons are great though 👌 I love how the grey Flip feels in my hands and the build quality of it feels solid, but apparently other colors have a different feel and the build quality is a bit inconsistent
Is it comfortable to play with for long gaming sessions? Than the rg35sp?
It's not as comfortable as the rg35sp due to its smaller size. But it's okay if you're playing games using the dpad for a long time. The sticks are not designed for long play though 😆
That's exactly I was asking for, the sp with silent buttons, smaller in size and.. well.. sticks. I was on the "no sticks" camp at first, but some dreamcast games just get too hard to play with dpad only, so it's good to have it for these games. As long as sticks don't get in the way.
Good job Miyoo. Now let's hope it gets Onion OS'ish cfw and it's more or less perfect
Yeah I totally agree with you. After cfw, everyone is going to have 2 really solid options for clamshell designs. The Powkiddy V90 would be proud 👌😆
I am sure true sp fans will appreciate that 👌🏻😌
For up to ps1, I'd say 3326 can be enough, for gba is more than that.
More clamshells is always welcome, but they must stand out
@vhsretrogamer1664 yeah with the crazy amount of handhelds that have come out, we should get some more clamshell variety at least
how's the netplay? is the multiplayer pretty good?
Works great 👌 just connected to my rg35xxSP
Can you play videos and mp3 files on the mini flip?
Yeah I showed the apps the video. Usually custom firmware options offer that too 👌
@batpixel thank you 😊
Do you remember if there is an inscription on the wifi chip casing? Maybe AP6256, or 20U5622?
I'm not seeing anything like that. If you email batpixelchannel@gmail.com I can reply with some photos of the board
There is a chip that I can't identify that has a blurry QR code on it and says:
SEC 248
K4F8E30
4HBMGCJ
EGYLDJUEH
That’s the best colorway, looks so good
Yeah I was torn between this one and the white color. But you can't beat the SNES! 😄
@ for sure that’s the other one I’d go for, not crazy about some of the other choices they had
This is the same chip as the rg353p/RG arc. Does this mean those handhelds are better than the XX series of handhelds?
You'll have a bit better performance on more demanding consoles. But cfw developers will improve the emulators and things too. The stock version of this leaves a lot to be desired
It's soft touch or matte plastic texture? Please answer
This grey SNES one in my video & yellow version have that matte plastic texture. Apparently the white & black colors have the smooth texture and possibly lower build quality?
@@batpixel Thanks. I was afraid that it was a soft touch coating that would peel off
I did notice some blemishes on mine when it arrived. If you get one I would say to expect there to be some imperfections. But I didn't notice any peeling like that
Have You checked if it works with USB-C to USB-C cables or fast chargers?
It does work but it's reccomended to use the normal cable
The device itself isn't really meant for modern games, as it has limited performance
is the miyoo flip as comfortable as the xxsp?
No I wouldn't say that. It's not bad, but the xxsp has the size advantage which makes it more comfortable in your hands. Using the joysticks for a long time on the Flip wouldn't be very comfortable either
What does the lack of custom firmware mean? Can I download and play rom hacks on it?
I can control Mario very smoothly and at different speeds 👌 You can see the same thing in the joystick calibration part of the video as well
@@batpixel Awesome! I haven't gotten there yet but am enjoying the video during lunch. Haha
😆👌 yeah I kind of deep dove into it. Wasn't planning on a 30 minute video but here we are lol glad you're enjoying 🦇
I just dont know if I want this or the rg34xx, SP style vs Wideboy
Surely the 34xx is more comfortable
Yeah tough choice. At least they both have their own distinctions that you can weigh and decide which one suits you better
OnionOS? Broke my Mini Plus and looking to just transfer the card over
No not yet. I'm making a video about MinUI on Friday afternoon. But we'll have to wait for more cfw to release soon
@batpixel I maybe should have waited to buy it or I'll just use the stock OS for now. In reality I should have not broke my mini plus
This has L3 and R3!?
Yeah lol
@@batpixelI'm kinda sold. 😳
😆😆 Hopefully Rocknix & others take advantage of those. I'm sure they will
to me biggest problem is probably that the lid doesnt close all the way if custom firmware is good i might buy one
Yeah the build quality could be improved a bit. I'm hoping the developers will offer a lot more with this
fixes: add membranes to keep dirt out in joysticks, add magnets to keep lid crispy closed, make the d-pad fatter, add bluetooth, SAVE YOUR MONEY, Miyoo Flip + invetiBLE
@@batpixel Yeah I assume this won't replace my sp but gotta collect them all. haha
I get you 😆
I need this, hope they get back instock soon.
I dont get why they didnt add magnets to close
Pretty sure the 35xxsp added them post launch
Yeah lol my SP has them. The build quality was definitely lacking. Even different colors have a different feel/quality to them
@batpixel ill probably wait a while and see if they do any kind of quality update, I've been loving my trimui brick so no rush 🤷♂️
people are saying it does have Bluetooth but not in the stock firmware so we will see when CFW launches for it
Yeah that would be great. I'm excited to see what is developed
How good is this device at playing Sonic Adventure 2?
It'll be interesting to see what is developed for it though, maybe developers can push the chipset a bit further like you said
The Wi-Fi don’t have wifi hotspot function :(
Can’t play RA local netplay while outside. Hope OnionOS comes out for this soon
Yeah there is a lot to be desired with the firmware. Hopefully soon 🤞
Great video dude. What's your accent? I cant place it.
Thanks 😆 I'm from Newfoundland, Canada
The analogue placement is hilarious. Really clutching straws now these companies 😅
😆😆
just curious where you would suggest putting them?
@@RockYoMomsWorld I think besides getting into some odd designs, that is the most reasonable place
Hopefully that changes, but I try to stick to showing old retro games only
31:06 "Wooimbouttamakeanameformyselfere"
Hahaha 😆 "youknowhowlooongivebeenwaitingfordisFlip?"
dude, just say if psp, dreamcast and n64 games run well
You can see me playing them in the video and they are running well.
But yes, you can make these handhelds reliable without them self destructing lol the people who are saying that are likely using the original SD cards that come with it
The SD card reader is nice, but looks the same as the one from the Miyoo Mini Plus, and it's slow AF.
Yeah it might be junk like the SD card lol at least the case is nice
If we get Rocknix on this Handheld I'll definitely buy this Handheld.
What do you enjoy about Rocknix?
@@batpixelMainline Linux so better Emulation and Portmaster Support. 😊
Man i just got mine and this thing fell so cheap!! The software is working great so far tho.
@@batpixel yeah I'm gonna keep an eye out... I definitely can't wait for a custom os
This is on amazon. Is it legit?
I got mine from the Miyoo Official Store on Aliexpress. I know Amazon has merchant stores from all over, so I wouldn't have any way of confirming that for you. But the original cost should be around $80 USD + shipping. Legit websites that I have collaborated with such as MechDIY will have pre-orders up for maybe a little more money as a markup. I have a discount code you can use on their website Batpixel. But if you're seeing really high prices those are resellers taking advantage of the limited supply. But Miyoo will restock soon
whats the accent? Irish? Just when i think i have it figured out you say a word that makes me second guess 😂😂
Hahaha it is an Irish accent, but I'm from an island called Newfoundland, Canada. So it's a lot different 😅
Nice vid. Do you mind me asking where you're from?
You're accent is so weird to me. It sounds american with a dose of Irish thrown in there?
I'm Irish by the way......
Haha I'm from Newfoundland, Canada across the pond 😆 lots of Irish history here, so that's what you're picking up on
@batpixel Oh cool. Thanks for the reply.
I kinda get the same feeling from techdweeb.
That would be hilarious if he was from the same island as me 😂 he's a bit of a mysterious cat. But I know he's from Canada
The included SD card adapters are good for maybe 1TB of data transfer before they crap out. I've killed every included SD card adapter in short order with 512GB cards. You're better off just buying a quality SD card adapter and not risking your SD card with the cheap crap.
Thanks for the info. And here I thought he got a bonus 😆
wasn't this handheld something like 3+ years in the making? all that time still looks very rushed
I think Anbernic really took advantage of the hype in 2024 and gave people what they wanted
that SD card reader will destroy your card
What are the details on that?
@ there are quite a few posts on Reddit about the sd card readers junking expensive sd cards
@profanity195 thanks. I'll make sure to mention it in a pinned comment above and when cfw releases
It’s not more bang for your buck when the flip literally cost more than the sp …..
That's because the SP has been out for a long time. This will drop in price the same. I was talking about the features, not the current price comparison
Ruined it with the thumbsticks and shitty dpad.
The dpad was a weird choice. The form factor isn't great for sticks at all, but I'm glad they're included as an option
Wow its from the company that lets 3rd party sellers buy out their entire stock within 1 minute of release not giving a puck about consumers
Not worth it until Onion OS gets released for it.
You have a good point. It desperately needs cfw
