The name ironpigs comes from pig iron that was big in the area because of Bethlehem Steel Co.
Fun Fact for you about the Rose Garden that most don't know about, the area next to Cedar Creek flatlands heading west alongside the creek is the site of the old Philadelphia Trolley line that ran out to Dorney Park which is reasons why finding old vintage pictures of Dorney Park you can see a Trolley car running through the underside of the Thunder Hawk Roller Coaster as that Coaster has been rebuilt 3 times in the last 100yrs. There are areas that you still can make out where the line traveled as the line enters Cedar park at the Bridge near N 21st St and Hamilton St and heads back alongside S Saint Elmo St to Martin Luther King Jr Dr through a series of curves. Off Martin Luther King Jr Dr near Overhill Rd where Cedar Creek merges into the Little Lehigh Creek you'll see an Old Time Railroad bridge that's the Old Trolley line traveled on. I
lived here my entire life and I know every back-alley corner store location of how it looked way back then to this day.
I'm that person you want around when trying to figure out what was once there as most don't remember or never knew that was there and it looked like this.
Man that old house in your in the beginning of this video... Damn, I'd love to live in that. Also the creek and those willow trees in that park, I could spend hours there - it would be my sanctuary for sure. I've always loved Allentown by Billy Joel, I had it in my mind exactly how you did, abandoned factories and such... It's very nice there. Guess they cleaned the town up! Great vid Cap.
