Then someone told me they knew a way to 'cheat' the system and so despite the government seemingly not wanting me I managed to get in. Most people (including myself) are guilty of having these pre-conceived ideas of what certain parts of the world are like and what the people must be like due mainstream media, but having watched Ben's videos I'm always pleasantly surprised.
This is the type of content you should see on everyday television instead of spreading fear and hatred. Amazing content as always Ben!

@@FranzFerdinand55 We were told many things about what it was like living under the USSR but one thing we are never told is that a fair number of people there preferred it. This is not the first time i've seen travelers to such countries be told the same. In the end, most people just want to make decent money and live a decent life.

I would love to visit Iran but as a Canadian we aren't allowed in as solo travellers unfortunately. I can only imagine how tasty all the street food must be in your country. One day, maybe.

Schools have been failing for decades and that’s all there is to it.
I'm a genX Indian. The Pamir Knot, the Wakhan Corridor, the Durand Line, Bactrian and Kushan civilizations were a staple of school geography in the 80's. During exams, you had to be able to accurately place these on a bare map.
This one brought back memories. Another fantastic creation, as always!

Nice. I remember being really interested in geography as a kid, capital cities, rivers etc. I bet many Brits today couldn't locate Wales on a map lol.
I went to school in the 2000s, in India, and I don't remember any of this part of our geography syllabus. It's a shame because I would've loved to learn more about this beautiful region and civilization. Thank you to Bald for showing us what this side of the world is like.

People in those regions have always been welcoming. Too welcoming i'd say. I like how the last guy explained his country's history. USSR is not how Ben was picturing it and wars came out because of their divisions, just like any other colonizer.

Not really amazing, it was Russian imperialists trying to force homogeny throughout it's empire. It was fine at the end of a gun as most communists empires are, but once the boot is taken off your neck you realize you still have issues with your neighbors

A quick story about Bald’s Soviet videos. A couple of years ago I was living in Glasgow, during lockdown, with a few personal problems etc. I would watch his videos of Russia, Belarus etc and love every minute of it. I decided to start learning Russian online, inspired by Bald’s videos and adventures. Fast forward a few years and 7 months ago I moved to Moscow, I speak decent Russian and I’ve just started making videos for my own channel. Life has never been better! I’m not sure my life would have taken this unexpected turn if it wasn’t for this channel.
