Hahaha I’m a server and I would tell myself in my car as I drive to work “people love me”, “I make everyone laugh” “I’m likeable” and it worked! lol I need to try money mantras!
Oh my gosh!!! This is so crazy emotional for some reason I don’t know?? But one of my best friends would always tell me how much she would tell herself “Everybody loves me, everybody wants to be my friend” and was shocked at how much it made people just swoon over here?! It was like her energy and aura amplified each time she spoke it out, that manifestation is real!
I totally agree with looking presentable! I always try to look my best because not only so I usually get tipped more, but it makes me feel good and confident! Dress for success 💅
My biggest and best tip is to anticipate all your guests needs (if they’re glass is half full bring them a refill without them having to ask) and never taking your job too seriously (have fun and enjoy your time there and it will ensure they have a good time during their visit as well)!
got back to work as a server after a decade out of the industry. these are really good tips.... especially concerning greeting your tables quickly. if you are already in the weeds and a 6 top sits down and you feel like it's too much, the best thing you can do for yourself and them is to AT LEAST say ''hey, i'll be right with you guys'' and to no surprise, you will be back to them quicker than you would have been previously, and they feel seen. go grab some waters for the table while you think over your other tables. be personable and compassionate.. BE YOURSELF
I always try to make my table laugh at one point in their dining experience. I make a very conscious point of asking people if they need a bag if they have boxed food. "Can I get you a bag for your boxes?" Guests, "oh yes please." Me, "paper, plastic, or the ones under my eyes."
Yaaaaaass and Hotel restaurants.... I work for Hilton.. and I work 15 hours a week bringing home about 1k a week.. Love my job.. Lol.. edit. I'm sorry y'all. I meant 1k a month. I make about $250 to $300 take home per week with only 15 hours a week.. I apologize for the confusion. I was typing to fast. Lol. But it's still bank for the amount of hours and work I have to do at a hotel restaurant compared to a traditional one. 😁❤️

Dessert, offer a la mode aka ice cream to enhance the experience, espresso? Offer a double instead. Small things but it adds up real quick, present it like you're doing them a favor by bringing it to their attention. Compliments!!! If your guest helps you in any way, make sure you use words like "you're magnificent" " you're the best" " how wonderful of you"... Keep your tone of voice pleasant, even whn stressed. Say: are you still enjoying your meal, instead of are you done. Great quality is in the tiny details... Make joke, the best servers are therapist, comedians, seductress, teacher, friend, all in one... Good luck ❤️😊

In my opinion I believe it is a matter of looking professional/put together. I feel like they want to tip people who are more professional acting and looking, and that having even just a *little* bit of makeup, like a flick of mascara or some highlighter, to highlight your features can make a difference in how put together you look. It really is amazing what a little bit of grooming/touch ups can do for you!!
Such great advice and so well presented. I am a bartender and will help out serving, because our servers go back to school. I just wanna do a good job and make as much money as possible.
UA-cam recommended this to me while I was watching videos on how to host a server, wich isnt particularly related. But still you've provided some excellent content for which I gotta leave a thumbsup, and a quick tip (pun intended): Avoid asking customers if everything is alright or if they need anything else frequently, I find it intrusive and very annoying when a waiter keeps bothering me when I'm halfway my drink.
I'm gonna be starting wrk soon. I already have these habits down from life skills but its reassuring that I'm doing the technique right. P.s. I love the background stuff. Makes the vid for me more realistic in the daily life

I am a server at a Chinese restaurant in Jamaica. Trust me it can be good at time and bad ... it alot different working in a Chinese restaurant because our menu is alot bigger than diner's
I had to get back into this industry because it's quick and easy money. How's everything going tho? I work at a sushi bar I don't know shit about sushi either lol
your so pretty and come across as responsible, I hope you venture out to working in a Law firm or IT and work your way up. Dont forget to put yourself first self care
Before the tablet ordering system we have now I used to memorize my orders and my best was 50 without messing anything up. I received ae round of applause later on another guest told me that to be a waiter in a traditional chinese restaurant you have to be able to memorize at least 50 orders correctly.
I got my first serving job at the iron hill. I never served before or have any restaurant experience. I often find myself getting lost and overwhelmed, especially with alcohol. I sometimes feel like I should downgrade to a smaller place like a diner. However, I see how much other servers make my coworkers leave with $150 a shift. Do you have any advice for somebody like me going into my first time serving?
sorry it’s such a late response, hopefully somebody else can use this, but just take your time and training seriously. even off the clock at home, memorize your menu and your drinks, all of the policies at your restaurant. Everything on paper that goes into it, you can memorize. That way you have all the knowledge you could ever need before you’re even out on the floor by yourself. The rest just comes with experience, you can’t teach yourself how to talk with people, because every situation will be different. It comes with doing the job and figuring out the best words to put to use in the situation you’re in. And before long man you’ll be the best server at your restaurant. It’s a great job because it falls on you to dictate how much money you’ll make. So give it everything you’ve got to ensure you get the bag🙌🏻
The advice the person before me is mentioned pretty spot on. I remember feeling the same way the overwhelming feeling sucks, it will change though and you will feel comfortable doing your thing it's just time and effort. take your time. Oh and if any coworkers are impatient with you or are rude just remember they were new too at one point just let negativity roll off you and focus on guests.
Definitely familiarize yourself with the POS system like learn what menu item is where because I managed to piss off two tables one time because I took too long ringing in their orders trying to find where… other than that, you got this!
I’ve been there for almost a month now and I love it!! These tips definitely apply and will help so much! My biggest advice is just be super sweet and attentive and ANTICIPATE rather than wait until things are needed.
