Something I’ve known about for years but something players will lie about and something fans are oblivious to or don’t care about. So many defenders have fell because of push offs.
You also have to consider that a defenders momentum is already going that direction because of the crossover the offense performed. A push off doesn’t “make” a person fall. If you push a person while both people are standing still they would barely move. A push off just adds extra momentum but you were getting crossed regardless 💀
Refs need to call offensive fouls on most of these. The league has gotten out of hand with offensive players pushing off to create space or slapping defenders hands away while driving.
What's funny is Jordan has done this one time that I've seen. No everyone is like "Jordan did it" as a reason to why they attempt to push the defender down 10 times a game.
So i guess the rule that says its illegal to use your off hand to create space isnt a rule anymore. So offensive hand checking is legal. But defensive is illegal.
@@CoachFrikki ahh ok thx. Also the running swipe i think that works better when youre running at somebodys back foot but you do a small crossover and swipe off to the ir front foot. It puts them out of position and it doesnt require a big iverson crossover or step back. TJass does this alot. Edit: its basically a behind the back push off alternative like in the video.
Gotta do it smoothly. The move itself should do 90% of the work and the offarm 10%. Hard shoves are not basketball and should be called all day. A bit of contact from both offense and defense is a part of the game. Learn to use it and defend against it.
Refs allow a bit of contact both ways. Defense can handcheck a bit and the offense can create some contact too. A smooth push off won't get called. Not a single one of those in the video got called 🤔
@@CoachFrikki i just had a game where a guy basically tried to drive right through me and pushed me with his offhand to send me to the ground while also helping himself come to a quick stop. i was pissed but no one called anything. anyways i ended up shooting a corner three in his face
Good video… a lot of really good examples of a subtle push or nudge, also a lot of examples were literally nothing, no impact on the defender, just that the off arm had to be somewhere naturally… prob about 50/50
Defense can push a bit. Offense can push a bit. Basketball is a physical game with a lot of contact. There are other sports you can play if you don't like that.
its a foul for sure, but the issue is no one at any level is calling it. I think it is a cheap tactic that takes away from the skillful footwork of breaking down a defender. @@yavivanov6650
Can't stand push off players... they're too weak in my eyes to be able to cross you without having to literally push u off to make a play... idk I'm old school I guess... subtle push offs are okay with me but when they be exaggerating then acting like they broke some ankles has me weak af, like dude knock it off 🤣
It’s crazy the more I payed attention to crossovers I noticed that EVERYBODY do this

Definitely been incorporating this and feel ten times more explosive!!
most useful series..... when u drive like this they will start sagging and give up jumpers
The secret to ankle breakers nobody wants you to know.
This guy knows what he's talking about ^
Man say that 2x.
@@CoachFrikki that's my other account lol

@@CoachFrikki Iverson didn't touch Jordan and crossed him over twice. He broke MJ's ankles two times. lol.
This was the most beautiful series I've eva seen... Thank you
Thank you - glad you liked it
bro you are a truly dedicated scholar of the game! Respect
I appreciate that - glad to be able to share some of my thoughts with other basketball addicts.
I love this channel, Only real hoopers know about this stuff
love your vids coach! keep on doing more of these
As soon as this started I knew Jordan was gonna be at the end!

I bet you complain about soft defense too

Can the offense put a hand on defense chest and push them back
It's a dirty off hand move but still legal if you do it right
I thought this was a dirty move. Almost like a shortcut way to break ankles. Are you telling me it's completely okay to do this?
You can use a bit of contact both on offense and defense. Nothing wrong with pushing off from time to time if you do it smoothly.
It is illegal but it leads to ankle breakers which leads to entertainment value which leads to no one caring because it looks cool and makes money
So i guess the rule that says its illegal to use your off hand to create space isnt a rule anymore. So offensive hand checking is legal. But defensive is illegal.
Professor spams this move
I need to add this. I'm already quick. If I add this I'm unstoppable.
Literally answered my question.
Can you do this if both their arms are extended.
You can. But generally when they got both arms extended and are running with you there is too much space between you to push off.

I’m still having an issue adding this to my back

the push off is so cheap. you always see them in ‘ankle-breaker’ compilations, but if you look closely they just fuckin straight arm you

I keep watching videos of these moves being illegal
Why is this so deadly?
If u were standing on one leg & someone slightly pushed your arm u would fall off balance , same concept
So push offs aren’t offensive fouls??

Players who don’t do this “handle” the ball better.
Still moving too fast to really see what's actually happening.
