Bishop Mari is wrong about his comments on Protestants. You cannot lump them all together. Confessional Lutherans do believe that marriage, baptism, communion are sacraments because they were instituted by God. Please see my other comments above. We do believe that the bread and wine are the true body and blood of Christ, and that Christ is “present” with and under the bread and wine. Catholics believe differently from Orthodox and Lutherans. Mari got this one wrong, sorry. It is very frustrating for someone like him, who is well-respected, to spread false-information about the Lutheran faith. (Confessional Lutherans are the true Lutheran Church. The Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) split off and are very unbiblical regarding certain doctrines. They should not be considered Lutheran. Many Protestant branches are the same - allowing gay marriage, even in the pulpit, is an abomination to God. We are NOT in that category.
YOOOOOOOOOOO this is amazing !!!! I love this and i was almost being like this because i don't want believers to reject all the truth. Like i would not argue the big subject but the little ones and more and more the time continue God will allow them to accept the truth
Provided that acceptance is not rationalizing denial of truth or current sin yes. Where the Bible makes clear something is right or wrong we are commanded to confront it. wait so im not like going to any church yet. how does it work? i am confused, because if it is the physical body oif jeuss christ, is he being sacraficed over and over again for our sins? is it not just a reminder that he is the bread which is broken, so that we may be fixed as he said it was for rememberance? and when jesus says that if you do not eat the flesh and drink his blood, then u have no life in you, is this not figurative? because then our life or our salvation is based on doing this work every month or every week, then is salvation not based on works? if that verse that says "he who doesnt eat the flesh and drink the blood has no life" is literal than salvation is works based. if it is figurative, saying we must spiritually eat the flesh and drink the blood of christ, just as we must be baptised by the spirit, not necessarily water, to be saved, then communion is also figurative representation and reminder of jesus being broken so we may be fixed.

Eastern Orthodox here, the spirit of our Church is that of mourning and humility and we welcome all to join us. Edit: People seem to be confused about the mourning part, and its sad so EO are jumping on Prot train of thought. Ok lets explain, “Blessed are those who mourn”? What about the attitude during Metanoia? What about us being taught mourning over ones sins is an act of contrition that deepens humility? What about the attitudes during Lent? meditating and mourning over the periods? We take this way of life and attitude very seriously for there is wisdom and grace in it.

I agree to some extent...as I tend to lean more reformed and love how they're so in love with God's word and understanding it. But part of me also thinks too much fixation on the education/knowledge can lead you astray. Over fixating on words and potential meaning when dealing with the supernatural has to lead to wrong turns here and there. I mean, we were for hidden from eating from the tree of knowledge. Sometimes being obedient and having faith is required, and not having 100% pure knowledge and understanding. Paralysis by analysis, if you will. I think it has to be beneficial to go back to the 1st and 2nd century and see just how Christians were doing things. In Germany where I come from Lutheranism has direct ties to the apostolic succession and only got rid of those added things that were later added by papal decrees such as letters of absolution in exchange for donations. Which for him made them less auhoritatuve or even non-authoritative compared to OT and NT books. Which if you read the books in question you realize most of them add context to practices of first century Jews but they don't add any major insights that are helpful or necessary for christian doctrine. Well said. I would also add though there is no 100% perfect denomination here on earth as yet. That will happen when Christ returns as the head of the one and only real Church, which will replace all current denominations. At the moment not even any one person here on earth is perfect but again that will change after Christ returns when true believers are resurrected or instantly changed when still alive, and receive new perfect eternal bodies. Until all that happens when Christ returns, we as individuals have to do our best with the help of the Holy Spirit to carry on as true believers in our imperfect and temporary bodies and churches. As with the Parable of the Ten Virgins, we must be like the five who took it upon themselves to obtain spare oil to be ready and prepared always for His return, be it when we are still alive or after we die before He returns. Keep waiting and watching with joy and anticipation as we know not when He will return. Amen.

The details of the Eucharist between Roman Catholics and the Orthodox Church is: In the Catholic Church, the bread used in the Eucharist is typically unleavened, and is consecrated by the priest during the Mass using a specific set of prayers and rituals. The Catholic Church also teaches the doctrine of transubstantiation, which holds that during the consecration, the bread and wine are transformed into the actual body and blood of Christ. In contrast, the Orthodox Church typically uses leavened bread in the Eucharist, and the preparation and consecration of the elements are accompanied by specific prayers and rituals that are somewhat different from those used in the Catholic Church. The Orthodox Church also rejects the doctrine of transubstantiation, and instead teaches the doctrine of trans-elementation or metousiosis, which holds that the bread and wine are transformed in a mysterious way into the body and blood of Christ, while retaining their outward form.
@@RationalJJ So you are saying that the teachings of the apostles, Jesus' direct disciples, are wrong, contrary to your interpretation 2000 years later?

It's a matter of the true Gospel being preached in Galatians 1:8-9 NIVUK it says But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! As we have already said, so now I say again: if anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse! Both the Roman Church and the Eastern orthodox church teach a works salvation which is in error to the true Gospel that we are saved by faith in Christ alone not works.
That's not what they believe, essentially they believe to be saved is through faith but to keep salvation is through works(on top of faith). We see that in James 2:14-17 "What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead."
@LiamMurray852 it is because they teach you must believe in Jesus and keep the sacraments to be saved when the bible is clear that its faith in Jesus alone that saves, that's not to say a person who has saving faith will not have works, someone who believes in Jesus is sealed with the Holy Spirit and the fruit of the Spirit will be evident in one's life as shown in Galatians 5:22 thus as james mentions faith without works is dead but its not our works that merit anything to salvation, Jesus alone saves. we are not saved by faith in Jesus and then required to keep our salvation through works. Salvation is entirely a gift of God's grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ alone, and it is not something that can be earned or maintained by our own efforts. Ephesians 2:8-9 clearly states, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast." This means that our salvation is a complete and finished work of God, not dependent on our performance. Furthermore, the apostle Paul emphasizes that our justification is by faith apart from the works of the law (Romans 3:28). In Galatians 3:3, Paul rebukes the Galatians for thinking they could begin by the Spirit and then be perfected by the flesh, highlighting that our entire Christian life, from start to finish, is by faith and not by works. The idea that we need to maintain our salvation through works contradicts the assurance we have in Christ. Hebrews 10:14 says, "For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy." This indicates that Jesus' sacrifice on the cross was sufficient to perfect us forever, and our ongoing sanctification is a result of His work, not ours. we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, and this salvation is secure because of His finished work on the cross. Our good works are a response to His love and grace, not a means to maintain our salvation.

Luther didn’t agree because the Catholic Church was practicing corruption by selling indulgences for money to get people’s relatives out of purgatory earlier. They made up the notion of purgatory as a money-making scheme. And the people believed it. Also he disagreed that you are saved by your works. We cannot save ourselves. It is the free gift of God, and Christ paid for the sins of the world on the cross. Those were the main things he didn’t agree with. He tried to reform the evil in the Catholic Church. There was already much evil and corruption within the Vatican at that time. Unfortunately, their evil practices still exist and they are still trying to cover them up. Bishop Mari should not be supporting a church that is getting rich off of sinful, corrupt practices(I.e - now it’s child trafficking). Bishop Mari needs to be clear about what he is saying about Protestants. I love his preaching, but he needs more education regarding the confessional Lutheran church.

Protestant more logical than other Christian branches 1.they don't worship to any pi and statue 2. they don't worship the angles and Mary holy mother of Jesus but respect. ❤Jesus mother is not intercession for us Our mediator only Jesus 3.they believe in good work but not salvation work 4.they believe ony Bible is word of God. Jesus was neither an Orthodox Christian, Protestant or a Catholic. He was indeed a human messenger who was sent to the Jews. He worshipped to One God❗😊
Jesus IS God.God incarnate. He glorified God the Father. After Pentecost, his followers started the Christian Church (Church=the body of all believers). James, the brother of Jesus, started the first Christian church in Jerusalem 300 years before the Roman Catholic Church.
Im a protestant and you can`t transform a piece of bread and a gulp of wine into the body of christ, thats pantheism. And i believe if you really consume transubstantinated bread and wine, then you will never sin again. So when all you perfect orthodox and catholic christians consume every sunday service the holy body of christ, WHY THEN YOU ARE STILL SINNERS????
Jesus said THIS IS MY BODY, THIS IS MY BLOOD while he was still there. It is not after he has died and resurrected that it will become a symbol Jesus is God and what God says, IS. He said do this in memory of Him for FORGIVENESS OF SINS. It is one of God graces given by Jesus to forgive us. If Jesus forgives us, we can still sin again bro. Most protestant church teaches that once saved always saved that is why you are thinking we cannot sin after we have been forgiven by Christ. Christ himself said forgiveness should be 77*7. us in the catholic church says he is an ocean of Mercy😊.
@@ShuyikaHenry My experience is that forgiveness of sins is not a comfort zone, it has such a deep meaning that it will end in eternity. We have to work constantly on our sinful mind and temptations of the flesh and this is the will of the Lord and the meaning of the remembrance of his suffering. The evilness and sins of mankind was the reason for his crucifiction. So we have to work constantly to become spiritual beeings through the rebirth from water and spirit, as the holy lord told us.
This is good because he's saying that neither church is wrong. But that we all need to ask Christ to teach us again because we are all deviating from his teachings.
Sir mari. In protestant they the bread is the body of Christ and the wine is the blood of Christ which cannot be true bllood true body but it represent the body and blood of Christ. As many times we take and drink we remember the suffering of Christ on thw cross shedding His blood namaste to cleanse us .
Yes of corse, but, BUT, understand what you said is a non sens if blood and body of Christ is a merely a symbol, is like a flood of wind, nothing else ! So is not a true eucharist !

I was baptized as a Protestant in a Baptist Church but i seek more knowledge in the Christian faith. Thats why im here , its getting late and i must sleep.
When you think about it, the differences between the three are like branches on a tree. They may have different ideas, but the source comes from the same tree, which is the belief of the Holy Spirit and finding the truth.
I disagree. Holy spirit unites and not divides. Jesus spoke of farmer planting wheat and the enemy planting weed. Jesus said not All who call him Lord Lord will enter the Kingdom, Jesus said some will say i cast out demons in your name but he will say he doesn't know them. As a matter of fact, Jesus was nail between two thieve to make him look like a thieve. So as a catholic I maintain my position that we need Scriptures, We need Apostolic tradition passed down from the Apostle who were with Jesus and we need church authority to help us determine truth.
Great answer, going to the the foundation of the Christian faith means going to Christ , the author and finisher of our faith. Let us not forget Revelation Chapter 3, where the Lord is speaking to the churches. Some of them had their good points and Christ also pointed out their weeknesses as well. Its good to unite as Christians in the Spirit of truth. When we differ with other Christians, we can agree to disagree agreeably.
You are totally failing to understand that the reason why Christ pointed out the flaws in a church era is because there were ppl calling God a liar, compromising with His doctrines, or wholesale rejecting His doctrines. All but 2 of them(the Smyrna and Philadelphia) didn't love the truth enough to fight for it, so they ended up falling away from God and surrendering to Satan, including the era Christ personally started!
As a Lutheran, we believe that the sacrament of communion is the true body and blood of Christ. The other sacraments are very much aligned with the Catholic and Orthodoxy. As you know Luther was a former Catholic priest/monk and did not want to start a new church but rather reform the Roman Catholic Church of the day but was excommunicated by the Pope. Therefore he had no other choice to worship Jesus via a new church..
I don't have a problem either way about communion, but when Jesus said this is my blood pouring the wine and this is my body broken for you when giving bread. I don't think any apostille there actually thought that Jesus was giving his blood and body away before his death, it was symbolic then and a point of reflection what Jesus was about to do and did for us. I do not see this as a deal breaker, I think Jesus would be disappointed in our pettiness if we did so.
As a protestant, I see a lot of hate spreading throughout the different sections of Christianity and it really hurts to see. I feel as though we let the little things effect our view of each other as a whole, as if the other person is less of a human because of their interpretation of scripture or the unimportant factors of the church. I am a pentecostal, but I still know that my baptist friends or my catholic friends are still truly loved by God and are going to inherit the kingdom not because of the unimportant or very specific beliefs that they have, but by their faith and love in Jesus Christ, because at the end of the day, that is what matters most.
Awesome answer for an Orthodox bishop. Not any church but Christ! Wow. Little disclaimer... Many protestants believe the whine and the bread are more thanx symbolic though they are not literly transformed. They are realspiritual Food. Also with baptism many protestants believe in the sacrament of baptism.
The Holy Spirit wil never lead you against his word. So many who say they are christ but go against Scripture do not have the Holy Spirit. Its not difficult to understand that.
For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known 1 Corinthians 13:12
I actually wanted to convert to orthodox.. but after watching Gavin Ortlund videos, I'm content and chose to stay in Protestant, in Lutheran church for that matter..

As a Protestant.. "The Bible alone ." The doctrine of Sola scriptura believe that the Bible is the most important authority to the Christian faith, rather than Catholic or Eastern Orthodox Christians who believe that tradition and early church writings have equal authority with the Bible. "The Five solas" are an important part of reformed theology for the Protestant leaders: Sola scriptura (meaning "The Bible only"): Protestants believe that they need only to read the Bible to find out what God wants, instead of listening to the Pope or the Catholic Church. Solus Christus (meaning Christ only"): Protestants believe that the only way to heaven is by Jesus dying on the cross, thus they do not have to pray to Mary, saints, or angels. Sola Gratia (meaning "grace only:" Protestants believe that God lets people into heaven, but no one deserves it. Sola fide (meaning "faith only"): Protestants believe that people must trust Jesus for him to let them into heaven. Soli Deo Gloria (meaning "only glory to God"): Protestants believe that God alone should be worshipped, not the Pope or priests, and people should not trust the Church to get to heaven. The 5 Solas "Sola Scriptura", "Solus Christus", "Sola Gratia", "Sola Fide" and "Soli Deo Gloria"
Protestants do belive in the holy communion. I believe many just misunderstand that is because of other differences in the other christian sects. Maybe some don't. But to my knowledge I always thought all protestant took part in communion. It is after all in the scripture.
While its very important to have sound doctrine, it does not mean you are saved just because you have your theology straight. The Pharisees knew the scripture thoroughly but they did not know the Author. Jesus warns that many will hear Him say depart despite calling Him Lord.
I cant lie I thought I was just going to hear slander about peoples various beliefs but this was nice to hear... Logical thinking that I can get behind.
My wife is Serbian orthodox. I do like their style. Ones spirituality is between you and God. So orthodox folks are constantly talking about how close to God they are. They show you silently their relationship with God.

1 corinthians 11:23-25 The word REMEMBRANCE is clearly insinuating that it is an event of remembrance and not of reliving. It is a symbolic tradition that we use to remember why christ died for us. By saying its his actual body and blood means that his atonement on the Cross wasnt enough which is exactly what isnt written. Jesus Christ died on the cross for all sin (past, present and future)
“Accept other believers who are weak in faith, and don’t argue with them about what they think is right or wrong.”
Romans 14:1

As an Eastern Orthodox Christian, I believe that communion and baptism are not symbolic: they are actual true mysteries of the church.
Jesus is to cool for "just symbolic".
wait so im not like going to any church yet. how does it work? i am confused, because if it is the physical body oif jeuss christ, is he being sacraficed over and over again for our sins? is it not just a reminder that he is the bread which is broken, so that we may be fixed as he said it was for rememberance? and when jesus says that if you do not eat the flesh and drink his blood, then u have no life in you, is this not figurative? because then our life or our salvation is based on doing this work every month or every week, then is salvation not based on works?
if that verse that says "he who doesnt eat the flesh and drink the blood has no life" is literal than salvation is works based.
if it is figurative, saying we must spiritually eat the flesh and drink the blood of christ, just as we must be baptised by the spirit, not necessarily water, to be saved, then communion is also figurative representation and reminder of jesus being broken so we may be fixed.
prove it.

As a Lutheran I want to say that Protestantism is a term devoid of meaning. In Germany where I come from Lutheranism has direct ties to the apostolic succession and only got rid of those added things that were later added by papal decrees such as letters of absolution in exchange for donations. The sacraments are still kept. I believe it is similar with the anglican church. However there are some who tried to do more than that those were the calvinists, who make up the continental reformed churches and on whose teachings most of the radical reformation denominations as well as later evangelical denominations are based upon. So there are three types of protestantism, counter-papal which are nearly identical to apostolic churches except not acceptinng the authority of the pope (Anglican, Lutheran, maybe a few others), reformers (calvinist, anabaptist), evangelical (baptists, quakers etc.)

@@annitmul1614 I understand thanks for the classification. First off the original Lutheran bible and some like me use that one today, still keeps the Septuagint only books (what Catholics call the deuterocanonicals). He didn't intend on removing them only to clarify they are not found in the Jewish canon found in the masoretic text. Which for him made them less auhoritatuve or even non-authoritative compared to OT and NT books. Which if you read the books in question you realize most of them add context to practices of first century Jews but they don't add any major insights that are helpful or necessary for christian doctrine. So I understand his view on those. Even though we know now that the Jewish canon we now know is newer than the christian canon.
I believe that we are all brothers in christ and I do believe that the catholic church has come a long way since the time of Luther I just have an issue with the papal authority the celibacy of priests and papal infallibility. The first and last because of their historic implications, Paul IV, John XII, Urban II cough. The second because even the orthodox let married people become priests not bishops which is debatable, but that's at least something.
Would I become catholic if these were resolved probably, granted they also need to go after pedophile priests more strictly, but that should be a case either way. I do agree with a lot of the stuff the old catholic denomination does and they are very similar to us Lutherans, there just isn't one any where near me.

I use’t to go to an Anglican Church then I had a vision of death praying plus a dream from God too to say to leave and that it was being led by the devil (adorned in gold and jems) they were a good “biblical based” church but without the spirit. I said I like this church but there’s these things that don’t sit right, what do you (God) think? Then he gave me that vision and dream. Then I didn’t know where to go and he fixed that for me too. Sooo God gave you a dream telling you to go to orthodox christianity?
Amen.

The details of the Eucharist between Roman Catholics and the Orthodox Church is:
In the Catholic Church, the bread used in the Eucharist is typically unleavened, and is consecrated by the priest during the Mass using a specific set of prayers and rituals.

In Lutheran service the wine is the blood and the bread is the body. Where does this man get his information?
It's a matter of the true Gospel being preached in Galatians 1:8-9 NIVUK it says
But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!
I love you Jesus! May we all unite as your followers 🙏 im non-denominational but we are all one in the body of Christ. I love you all too. That last bit is what Martin Luther did centuries ago....he was excommunicated because he didn't agree with the "church" of the age.

We’re sinners at the end of the day bro… we’re not perfect but The Holy Spirit will guide us and through prayer we can overcome the sin 🙏
So you are "Solar Scriptura" then? Where did you get your bible from? You know the one you butchered.

I disagree with Orthodoxy and Catholicism, but he was spot on with every word he said.
You are on this council, but we do not grant you the rank of master
I used to be protestant. But now I look for Jesus everywhere, and I love MM Emanuel. 😊
Amen to the Bishop. God bless all my brothers and sisters in Christ, no matter what faction.
I’m just a Christian, that’s what Jesus wanted.✝️ He doesn’t want us all divided.💔
Amen couldn't agree more
Awesome answer for an Orthodox bishop. Not any church but Christ! Wow.
Little disclaimer... Many protestants believe the whine and the bread are more thanx symbolic though they are not literly transformed. They are realspiritual Food. Also with baptism many protestants believe in the sacrament of baptism.

As a Protestant.. "The Bible alone ."
The doctrine of Sola scriptura believe that the Bible is the most important authority to the Christian faith,
rather than Catholic or Eastern Orthodox Christians who believe that tradition and early church
writings have equal authority with the Bible.
"The Five solas" are an important part of reformed theology for the Protestant leaders:
Sola scriptura (meaning "The Bible only"):
Protestants believe that they need only to read the Bible to find out what God wants,
instead of listening to the Pope or the Catholic Church.
Solus Christus (meaning Christ only"):
Protestants believe that the only way to heaven is by Jesus dying on the cross,
thus they do not have to pray to Mary, saints, or angels.
Sola Gratia (meaning "grace only:" Protestants believe that God lets people into heaven, but no one deserves it.
Sola fide (meaning "faith only"): Protestants believe that people must trust Jesus for him to let them into heaven.
Soli Deo Gloria (meaning "only glory to God"): Protestants believe that God alone should be worshipped,
not the Pope or priests, and people should not trust the Church to get to heaven.
The 5 Solas
"Sola Scriptura",
"Solus Christus",
"Sola Gratia",
"Sola Fide" and "Soli Deo Gloria"
As a former member of the church of England, and former Christian, i can understand that
1:35 Well im protestant and our pastor and church believe wine is blood of Christ and bread body of christ, but i don't know for others.
Come home to the true church.
“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
“And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32

1 corinthians 11:23-25
The word REMEMBRANCE is clearly insinuating that it is an event of remembrance and not of reliving. It is a symbolic tradition that we use to remember why christ died for us. By saying its his actual body and blood means that his atonement on the Cross wasnt enough which is exactly what isnt written. Jesus Christ died on the cross for all sin (past, present and future)
