Hey loves! Today we’re making the best ever brown butter Blondies! I honestly have no words for how incredible they taste. Last week, we made brownies and today we’re going to be making these :) If you were to ask me, I honestly would never be able to choose which ones I love more because they’re both just that good. If you’ve tried blondies, you’d know just how amazing they taste. It’s almost like eating a cookie bar but better. However, this recipe uses brown butter which takes the flavors to the next level. It gives it a gorgeous caramelized, almost toffee like flavor and your kitchen will smell like heaven when you bake these. Also, some wonderful news; my website has finally been created and I will leave the link to it so that you can check it out. It has all of these fun recipes, plus a ton of additional helpful information which will make sure that all of your experiences in the kitchen go flawlessly. It also has a ton of information on how to replace certain ingredients in recipes when you don’t have them (egg replacements, butter, flour, sugar, etc.) In relation to this recipe, my website also includes food science so you can learn about things like the maillard reaction (which actually makes brown butter taste so good) So make sure to check that out! And welcome to my channel if you’re new, I make new videos every single week so make sure to subscribe and hit that like button. And here’s the recipe !!
Brown Butter Blondies
Ingredients:
-½ cup butter
-½ cup brown sugar
-½ cup granulated sugar
-1 egg
-½ tsp vanilla extract
-½ tsp baking powder
-¼ tsp salt
-1 ¼ cup all purpose flour
-½ cup semi sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 F (180 C)
In a medium saucepan over medium high heat, add the butter and allow to melt. The butter will start to develop bubbles, so just allow it to cook for a few more minutes. Soon, the butter should start to brown and form some dark particles. Remove from the flame and allow to cool.
Add two cubes of ice to the brown butter because the water has evaporated. The ice will hydrate the butter and cool it down. Do not touch it!
Add the melted butter to a large bowl. Add the brown sugar and granulated sugar. Use an electric mixer or whisk to beat and incorporate the ingredients.
Add the vanilla and egg and beat again until the mixture has become pale and fluffy.
Add the baking powder, salt and flour. Fold together with a spatula until partially combined.
Add the chocolate chips or other toppings and fold again until the flour has been incorporated completely and the chocolate has been distributed.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and level with the spatula or back of a spoon.
Bake for about 35-40 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
Sprinkle with flaky sea salt and allow to cool completely.
Slice into 16 pieces and serve alone or with vanilla ice cream.
Enjoy :)

These look amazing. My main issue will be having to buy a baking pan at that size, though I should buy one because it's a nice size to keep yourself from making too much and eating it all lol. Thanks so much for the recipe and all the tips along the way.
aw thank you so much! I love using smaller pans so I don't have to make a whole batch (and end up eating it all)
Thank you for sharing your delicious sounding recipe! Going to make it for my family for tonight's dinner! Homemade pizza, then these. Yum!😋😋😋

that sounds delicious! And I’m so glad you liked them :)
Terrific!!! Great tip about adding ice to the butter. I’ve been experimenting with these for years; today I’m going to add a bit of almond paste and see what happens. Thanks much - new subscriber!
how did they come out? :)
sounds delicious!! how did they turn out :)
They were FABULOUS! The almond paste added such an interesting, creamy texture - and somehow they weren’t quite as stodgy and heavy as some blondies can be. They had the flavor of the gooey insides of an almond croissant. Just yummy!
@@mollywolly4201 where do you get almond paste from or do you make it? 🥹
I should also add that I ALWAYS add kosher salt to the tops of my blondies - especially necessary with the almond paste. And I sprinkle it liberally. That’s the perfect combination IMO - the intense sweetness of the almond paste and the brown sugar, offset by that occasional large-ish crystal of salt in the same bite. YUM!
YUMMY 😋
thank you !!
Oh nice
thank you !!
Looks yummy 😋
thank you ❤️
I noticed you only used one egg, every other recipe I've seen or read had required 2. Do you think this helps achieve a more chewy consistency? My blondies keep turning into cake and I'm not sure why as I've followed all directions of the recipes to a T. I am careful not to overmix any of the ingredients. Any Idea what I might be doing wrong?
So when I mixed my eggs and vanilla in it did not get thick like yours can you help me?
hey! did you mix the eggs and vanilla with the sugar and butter mixture? It also may be too thin if you didn’t incorporate enough air into the mixture. You may need to mix it for longer with a whisk or electric mixer to get the desired consistency. hope this helps :)
May i use baking soda instead baking powder?
you sure can! Baking soda is much stronger than baking powder so make sure you just use 1/4 tsp of baking soda.
Made these last night and they are soooo delicious!
so glad to hear this!!
Why Does my butter keep popping and exploding ;(
oh no! when butter is heated and reaches a certain temperature, the water starts to evaporate at a quicker rate which causes it to splatter.
To work through this, I would recommend using a tall saucepan (which will ensure that the butter won’t get everywhere if it splatters) on medium heat. Constantly stir the butter so that it cooks evenly and do not leave it unattended! It should only take around 3-5 minutes until it browns, then transfer immediately to a separate bowl to stop the cooking process.
If the butter still doesn’t cooperate, you can totally make this recipe using regular melted butter without having to brown it!
I really hope this helps and let me know how everything goes :)
@@ohcrepe9282 could you also just heat up the butter instead of making brown butter?
Keith's Tunes absolutely ! these blondies taste incredible either way :)
More like a cookie dough bar
I'm sorry these look too greasy and texture looks a bit muddy.
