Catching Blue Crabs In Winter

- Blue Crabs, in this video we'll be crabbing and fishing in Pascagoula Mississippi. The crabbing was tough because it's the end of January and very windy and cold. We crabbed with our ring traps but we caught just as many blue crabs using our fishing rods (fishing for crabs). After crabbing and fishing for about 2 hours we ended up with 6 jumbo blue crabs, 1 whiting (ground mullet), 1 croaker and a white trout. We stopped at a park where we steamed the blue crabs and took them back to our room for a great dinner. Catch and Cook

Joyce , I made your crab cakes yesterday for my father in law. He is a hard man to please when it comes to crab cakes. I have tried many recipes an he never liked them BUT your recipe he absolutely loved !!!
So your recipe goes in the book at the house , so we can make them again for him. Just wanted to thank you for making my 89 year old father in law happy !!! Since my mother in law passed 2 years ago we can’t get him to eat much, except junk food which he is not supposed to have but he orders it when he thinks we aren’t watching! We loved the crab cakes , thanks!!!

You're right they are a lot bigger and full of meat. This time of the year the crabs we catch in the St Johns River are much smaller, I can't wait until spring. Thanks for Watching our videos

I have been watching you for about two years now and I love your videos but I also have so much admiration for you both. You can tell how connected you are bc you often mirror what the other is saying. You have playful teasing and you never seem to fight. Of course that may just be editing, but if it isn’t I hope to have that kind of relationship with my spouse when I’m older. You have a youthful spirit. As an aside- Sam, I noticed on one of your videos that you said “crick” instead of creek. That’s how my family says it. We are from Bucks County Pa. ❤❤
You're right, that's just how we are, we enjoy doing things together and we're always teasing each other (since we were 19). We're a team and it happens all the time, we'll say the same words at the exact same time. It's definitely not editing lol. Sometimes it makes it hard to edit when you're both saying the same thing at the same time lol. I do the editing while Joyce is cooking, she loves to cook. I'm surprised that your crab net wasn't floating. That pier has some strong current even on nice warm days.. Used to be able to catch a lot of crabs at city park in Gautier,but not anymore

Just wondering, LOL. What do you do with the crab shells at the hotel you’re staying in when you’re done eating them. throw them in the hotel wastebasket and get banned from staying there again? or perhaps the hotel doesn’t care because you guys are such good customers. Great chilly😮😮 video
Most of the time we clean the crabs first, if we cook them whole we clean them before we get back to the room (we carry water with us) that makes it less messy. After we're done we put all the scraps in a trash bag and I put it outside in the dumpster. It's just like getting takeout seafood. Thanks for Watching our videos

I always thought in cold weather. Usually bury themselves in the mud.
They do sometimes but apparently not all the time. Last year in Ocean Springs we caught some with mud on the top of their shell. Thanks for Watching

Joyce and I have been married since we were 19 for 57 years, we both have the same interest and enjoy doing things together. We also have our own hobbies, Joyce likes to cook and see (I like to eat lol.) We also enjoy rock hounding for semi precious stones and I enjoy making jewelry for Joyce and our Daughter (I make all of Joyce's jewelry). How long do you steam live crabs for versus killed and cleaned crabs? I usually do 12 min for dead cleaned crabs but I imagine live ones gotta be closer to 20 min
