After the merging of arthas and nerzul the scourge underwent a period of consolidation, R&D, and construction. Without this event, the Knights of The Ebon Blade never form. This is actually very bad for azeroth as their theft of apocalypse and the maw were very important. A new generation of dark riders could cripple the eastern kingdoms, as even knock-off deathknights can be devastating to a unprepared population. But more importantly, the maw and it's creator being unleashed onto azeroth would be a serious problem. The only reason it was successfully stolen was a surprise smash & grab on a demonworld. If the legion could take the initiative, it would result in a lot of dead heroes.
Wouldn't illidan decide to be the new lich king instead though? I mean his plan was to detroy the skull of gul'dan and he ended up taking the power for his own
@@finnheisenheim8274 I wonder if he absorbed the power if he could then control the scourge just from that. Pretty much nobody can absorb power like Illidan can so you never know.
Illidan's army could become a legit superpower that can fight against the legion with the Illidari at full strength in Outworld allied with the scourge on Azeroth.
@Silmarillion Sargeras The Scourge assimilated to the full strength illdari would be a very effective fighting force to fight the legion. It'd help a lot as well if Illidan uses his power to leverage an alliance with the forces of Outworld and Azeroth. It would have made fighting the legion much more easier.
@Irfan Alddin Sargeras is WAY more powerful than Kli'Jaeden. At the very least he's a casual planet buster without any power boosts like Illidan. Only reason we won in legion is because the Titans locked him out for us. Still though a Super Faction if the Scourge and Illidari dedicating it's resources to defeat the legion and protect Azeroth would have been very helpful against the legion. I can just imagine a shit ton of demon hunters and death knights just taking out the top commanders while a bunch of fel orcs and undead attacking their armies while necromancer's bringing them back to life when some of them die
@Irfan Alddin We beat up a featless newborn infant titan that was unnaturally born, was tortured for thousands of years and had a good chunk of it's power absorbed to fuel the burning legions army. We also had super-weapons that had enough power to neutralize a planet busting weapon so it's not really a decent comparison to Sargeras. The heroes of azeroth were at their absolute peak against Argus and even than we still needed the Titans help to defeat it while it kept on killing us despite its hindrances. The only time planet busting feat we saw from someone with planet busting capabilities that weren't named Deathwing and Sargeras was Illidan and that was with a big power boost. The best feat from Malfurion was at best city buster and even than he's kind of a glass cannon since a normal warrior like Saurfang has the capability to kill him.
@@J10005 well your both right and wrong here really, the ''newborn'' titan was actually pritty old, since he was working in kitchens in 1993 under the famous chef gordon ramsay, and as late as 1991 was on a rescue mission to find mankriks wife, wich allready makes him quite old, and also some would say even stronger then sergeras himself, or herself i guess (since the sex change) im not sure how they would fare in a battle though, with sergeras having the power amp of legolas bow and gimlis axe, this is not to say the younger titan of the two is whitout chance, he also has smelled the blood of his enemies in the great war of narnia where he killed the wickid frost witch, ah anyway, a lot could happen.
Illidan wouldn't be chilling with the pantheon right now, although I think it's not the last we have heard of him, kinda hope Tyrante will appreciate his sacrifice now that she is in the same situation now.
I don't think he can become the Lich King, since he has those huge honking horns on top of his head. Unless the helm can somehow shape and remold itself, but I don't recall ever hearing about that in the lore.
What if Illidan defeat Arthas and succesfully destroyed the Frozen Throne? (Disregarding the ridiculous modern facttor of that stupid Shadowlands purgatory thing realm of WoW). If Illidan had destroyed the Lich King, there are ONLY 2 logical outcomes in the story: 1. Kil'jaeden would grant Illidan his just reward as said in their ONE TIME DEAL. Illidan would most like ask for more power and magic for him and his loyal minions, and in the end, Illidan would BETRAY Kil'jaeden and fight the Burning Legion since Illidan is NOT and WILL NEVER BE a pure willing agent for the Legion. 2. Kil'jaeden would BETRAY Illidan and never grant him his "promised" reward. (Well what else can be expected from a demon anyway?). Kil'jaeden would have just treated Illidan the same way as Ner'zhul, just a pawn that is a means to end. You really think Kil'jaeden would fully trust Illidan, the BETRAYER, especially after Illidan just defeated Magtheridon and conquered Outland for his own.
@@prehistoricplayer1132 if so then she'd actually in her existence crisis... again... cuz the reason she led the forsaken at 1st is to kill ya boi Arthas.
I've wondered for a long time why Blizzard never explored this. They could have Illidan rise and become crazy strong with undead Naga and then have Arthas turn back into a hero for a time. Illidan would become his mortal enemy and again become the hero that would do anything to protect his people. They could effectively bring Arthas Lich King back, even more powerful than he was before! Let's be honest, Arthas was always the best villain.
I wonder if he absorbed the power if he could then control the scourge just from that. Pretty much nobody can absorb power like Illidan can so you never know.
And now a more adequate version of what would have happened: Illidan would have simply destroyed the former shaman and returned to the remains of Draenor. The storyline of the Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King is cut from the universe. The Hunter would probably give the Elves a vial of spring water that would help revive their kingdom. The fate of the remains of Lordaeron would remain the same. The Cataclysm would probably still happen, but without Garoche as the leader of the Horde, we have at least the Saurfangs. Therefore, Draenor, Legion, the Battle for Azeroth and the Shadowlands did not happen. In general, this story never ceases to please.
If there was no Northrend campaign, then we'd have never found out about Yogg-Saron, meaning either he'd gain much more power, or if Loken was still to die somehow, Azeroth would get re-originated and we'd all die.
I'm gonna have to instantly debunk the second theory of Illidan choosing to become the Lich King... He couldn't have put on the helmet because of his horns. :P
