- When Bond met Honey. To learn the song ‘Underneath The Mango Tree’ for this scene in DR. NO (1962), Sean Connery (James Bond) and Ursula Andress (Honey Ryder) fought over the record player. “He didn’t need the practice because he sings much better than I do,” recalled Andress. “I can’t carry a tune.”

"I can assure you my intentions are strictly honorable." What a great line to get in.
but totally unbelievable. When someone says they are (honest, a christian, patriotic) you can be sure they are lying.
Hi there Language was different back then, phrases like this were more commonplace
N
@@Hithere-ek4qt just like when a liberal preachs about tolerance, or how izzlam is the religion of peace. thats all bullshit!
@@NhatHuyNg I doubt he was aiming at conservatives, he was just sayin' that people who are not Christians at all sometimes lie and say that they are to get the job done
All James Bond has to say is, '. . .my intentions are strictly honourable' and the lass lowers her guard. Fun times.
Every time I try that line the girls always clutch their purses and sprint away...

@@martinXY Quite so, sir.
I said this once and was accused of rape
I was watching an interview with Sean recently and he claimed to still see Ursula whenever he was in Rome. Goes to show how important this film was for everyone
What year was that interview?
I wonder if he tasted the honey?
@@seeharvesterprolly, Sean Connery was one of the top alpha men on planet earth when he was James Bond.
RIP Sean Connery. You will never be forgotten. This film was made the year I was born...🌞🙏🇬🇧🌞

Scotland is still part of the UK. However, the Union Jack is for Sean Connery the actor: portraying James Bond and his many great films - and for his services in the Royal Navy during World War Two. The Scottish flag 🏴 (here) is for Sean Connery the man: and to Scotland where he was born and where his political alliances and his heart will now forever lay.

To give you and idea. $100 US in 1962 is the equivalent of $857.95 today. She has about a dozen shells at an average of $25 x12= $300, Or $2573.85. Not a bad gig for beach combing and shell collecting.
damn not bad
And all you can think about are the value of the shells from this.

One of the best Bond girls and iconic scenes from the series.
He wakes up and his hair is perfect. That’s my boy!
@Mr.Beant no his hair in dr no was real he only started to use a wig in from russia with love and after
This woman is so beautiful.

Ursula is unmatched to this day as the best Bond girl ever despite being the first.
Vesper???
I like Ursula a lot, but she might not even be the best in the Connery era. Daniela Bianchi was stunning in From Russia With Love.
Goddess
Vesper tho
@@lukar7306 GTFO, there's at least 10 bond girls better than vesper
Filmmakers to this day still cannot figure out how Ursula Andress energing from the sea became such an iconic scene. It is a perfectly simple shot by Young, but yet he somehow had everything line up perfectly. It's probably one of those instances where if you make an effort for great movie moment, it just never happens. Obviously Andress has a lot to do with it - sort of a Venus and shells concept and which Young probably had in mind. But it's not just that. It is the color and the sand - the whole mise en scene which does the job. I shall never tire of the remarkable direction on display here.
Prolly because she’s the baddest bitch I have ever seen
I’d wager most men had never seen a sight like that in their entire lives at that time in history….no wonder it was iconic lol
@@TravisJohnSmithlol!
That kind of fierce independent athletic beauty was completely new then - the antithesis of Marilyn Monroe. She was really stunningly beautiful too.
As if the introduction of Connery as Bond earlier in the film not not iconic enough, his female lead got the same iconic entrance also.
The film quality was so beautiful. I wish they'd use that in today's films
Glorious Technicolor!
I think you're referring to the bright color, and yes I very much agree. I started used an extension for Chrome called Video Styler that lets me make the colors more vibrant. 🙂

The early Bonds weren't just video games. They had some plot and characterization
I agree, I much prefer the quality of old films to digital.
In gaining better technology, we lost what was unique and special about classic cinema
The look on Bond's face when she says her name is just perfect.
Of course. Because he’s going to ride her all night long.

At 2:04 , "what's your name?"
Me expecting: "Bond, James Bond"
Reality: "James".
lol, agreed. i was thinking the same thing.
Bond said it earlier on the movie, so he maybe didn't do it twice so the audience wouldn't think he always answers the same way.
One of Sean's most memorable Bond Scenes. R.I.P. Sean you'll never be forgotten.
Underneath the mango tree , sean connery always will be singing ...as 007 ...Bond its alive thanks to Connery...RIP ..
You only live twice Mister Bond. “You will always live in my memories “
The best Bond ever. Saw his first Bond movie Dr. No. When I was 16 and ever since I admire him. He was my Idol until this time/ I am 68 years old. Love you Mr. Bond my Hero.
At 51 I'm a Bond fan since the my late dad brought me to see The spy who loved me in 1977, this movie was what started it all, nearly 60 years later it's still going..God bless you Broccoli family
Sir Sean Connery was one of the greatest actors of all the times! And his Scottish accent, just marvellous!
R.I.P. Sean Connery. My favorite actor of all time.
I think this is a great example of that time when cinema was exiting and fun.
Damn, Connery was 31 years old here. He looks much older.

Connery aged so quickly. He was actually almost bald here too (wearing a toupee). By 1975 in 'The Man Who Would Be King', he almost looked old (he was just 44), and did not visibly age any more than that until his retirement in 2003.
Adoro essa cena ,é realmente linda. URSULA estava deslumbrante e Bond um charme só!!!
I still catch myself whistling Underneath the Mango Tree on occasion and then smile and remember all that I love about the Bond films.
Who can forget this iconic scene from DR. NO..... Ursula Andress is amazing in this scene, can't get my eyes off her..... She's great in this one.....
@Michael F. Tommey Of Course.....
@Michael F. Tommey Nice knife too
First time I've ever seen the whole clip, quite different to what I'd expected, just lovely, clean, and wholesome with just the usual bond double entendres to make us smile.
RIP dear Sean Connery I will never forget you and I will never stop to watch your movies 🙏🙏🙏😭😭😭
She had such a impossibly thick Swiss accent that she had to be completely dubbed in this movie. But, she was a SINGULARLY STUNNING WOMAN with a FACE AND BODY BY GOD. Time, after death, is the SECOND MOST VICIOUS CRUELTY IN LIFE!!
One of my favorite Scene of all the Bond Movies, very beautiful.😘 Sean Connery and Ursula Andres unforgettable.😍
The real 007 thank you for the bond movies. R.I.P. Sean
R.I.P Sean Connery. The first and the best 👌
I honestly can't believe he passed away he was literally my favorite actor🏴🇬🇧
Best and most iconic scene from the franchise itself. Bond meeting honey for the first time.
They actually make the perfect couple! Such beautiful people! 😍😍
It took only 5 seconds to Bond for singing, it took 5 seconds to fell for the Bond franchise and Sean Connery forever.
May you rest in peace.

One of the best scenes ever and 50 years on the bond machine rolls on classic connery
Well, I think the machine ran out of gas after Roger retired and it's been running on fumes and numerous flat tyres ever since
@@guillezorro I i agree since Roger retired the magic has gone now
It was actually Diana Coupland singing in this scene, dubbed over Ursula. Most people remember her as the mum in TV series 'Bless This House'.
@@joanne26 Wow, i didn't know that either. I also didn't know that the beautiful Sally Geeson from Bless This House is actually the sister of the very beautiful Judy Geeson. How thick is that? Time HAS flown, it's scary. Wish I could go back.
The late Diana Coupland's voice standing in for Ursula Andress...
Didn't know that.
I sure do hope that Sean Connery got to see this HIGH quality footage before his passing.

ESSE FILME DO 007,É O MEU PREFERIDO!! A SEQUÊNCIA DA PRAIA E SHOW!!
Hard to believe how far we have fallen from these far better and simpler times. I love nice cars, technology, information, but it all comes with a very steep price.
I totally agree.
I'm 50 now and my generation has had the chance to have THE best outlook on it all as we today take full advantage of technology, have witnessed all it's bustling rise first hand but still remember how things were before when there was very little of it.
My two cents:
- cellular phones, started off as a great commodity (used it first in 1994) in respect to home/office landlines + phonebooths in the streets...but were not accompanied by any education about the new technology so today people pretend to dial a number and expect to have another person answer within 3-4 second in any given moment...even if they are having sex, are in the shower of shitting on a toilet.
It becomes really annoying at times especially because some people panic and think if you don't answer in 5 seconds and two calls you must have had a car accident, gave up you job or are dead on the floor...
- PCs, fantastic tool and a formidable aid in many things, they literally created hundreds of different jobs from scratch (among which mine), their performances and reliability grew exponentially while their price tag dropped dramatically so today you can access formidable processing power and memory storage with 4-500 euros while 2-3000 euros give you access to actual supercomputing and the possibility to run top-notch complex SW that 20-25 years ago was limited to advanced scientific facilities. Probably the best thing that happened to humanity.
- the Internet, excellent platform per-se, allows unthinkable data exchange among billions of people in real time (my first navigation on BBS in 1988 as a kid, online 24/7 personally since 1998), eMail totally revolutionized the world and if it suddenly disappeared the planet economy would collapse in a matter of days. Online systems are showing endless possibilities in many fields.
- Social media, meh... in the beginning it was fun and helpful (started with Tagged.com 4 years before FB was born, already had a 3D avatar on ActiveWorlds.com years before SecondLife.com even existed, had P2P accounts on eMule and such) as long as we used it as a side-tool to organize a meeting or maybe a family dinner or so. Today I see a nonsensical use of it (except maybe YT) that absorbs people into the shallowness of their hedonism and basically makes people waste their life.
- Smartphones, meh... they started off as a cool and useful thing but today have become in fact the base for Orwell's Big Brother...people unconsciously pour toms of personal information in them daily...where they go, what they do, what they buy or like, how they look, who they frequent for business or pleasure...all this information is silently gathered by private and governmental organizations for a wide variety of goal, most of which are not in the person's favor.
Cheers.
Lucky are the ones from the previous times.
Movies is an illusion though. Its not same as real life. But i do think they are great at aspiring and motivating people to do something amazing
Ursula and Sean seem to hit it off during the making of this film and through the rest of his life.
Connery singing along will always be awesome.
This is the first (and so far, only) James Bond movie in which he sings!
RIP...10.31.20 my heart is breaking at your passing.
Passed away on Halloween day.
Just like River Phoenix, and Harry Houdini.
Imagine all the popcorn you would need if such movie was released today.
One of the best bond girls.
I went to this actually spot in Ocho Rios in Jamaica last March before this all madness has started only to see where this scene was filming.
Też byłam i rozpoznałam, gdzie to jest, po wodospadzie. O tym, że tam kręcono Bonda, nie wiedziałam 🙂
I too stood on that very beach after having walked down the water falls to the sea ... back in 2005, lovely vacation.

“No just looking” is such a great line
El legado de elegancia de Sir Thomas Sean Connery , quedara por todas las generaciones..Definitivamente Sean Connery es James Bond y James Bond es Sir Sean Connery por siempre...

I met Ursula Andress and I had a dinner with her, very emotional
I was literally there earlier this week while I was on vacation in Jamaica mon. I climbed the falls too, which are in the background, and it’s an amazing place. The beach is where people start to walk up the falls. An amazing place. 😃👌🏻👍🏻

Something like that only happens with James Bond.

The happiest of birthdays to Sir Sean Connery. May you stay forever young!
This hurts so much now... but he’ll be forever young and strong up there.
RIP Sir Sean, and God bless...
This is the first James bond film I have seen during my school days also I had a chance to read the novel before went to see the film.
Ursula Andress looked like real Venus and
Sean was gorgerous man
Such an iconic scene
These two won the genetic lottery. Beautiful together. 🎬❤️🎬
"Looking for shells?"
"No, I'm just looking"
Yeap. Pure poetry.
The sea was so beautiful at that time.
It was so clean and clear was clear. Not like today it was heavily polluted. The invironment and atmosphere was quite cool and no global warming. The world started to polluted after the 70s.
Bond was meant to be played by Steve Reeves, an American former Mr.Universe, who turned it down. I can’t help but view the film with this in mind. The film was written for a behemoth of a man, but Sean Connery still fills the screen!
