Actually the twins can also hit the high notes when needed. Barry (the tall one with the falsetto) is still alive - 77 yrs old and still singing. The BeeGees were honored at the Kennedy Center recently - Barry’s son made a lovely speech. Dion Warwick was also honored - she had a huge hit with a BeeGees composition “Heartbreaker”.

It's sad that a parent has to bury a child. Their mom and dad have had to bury 3 of their 5 children. Barry's sister was the first born then Barry. The music lives on

Barry and an older sister Lesley are still alive.
They can all do falsetto, but Barry does it most of the time. He "discovered" this talent in 1975 with the song "Nights on Broadway". There is a video of the song on UA-cam from "The Midnight Special". Maurice is singing the falsetto in the video, but Barry sang it on the actual recording. The "one on the right" is Maurice (pronounced Morris, or Mo) the one in the red shirt is Robin, Mo's twin. Barry is the singer, older by 3 years. Check out some of their earlier works from the 60s. Their last released single was in 2001, 2 years before Mo died. And don't forget their brother Andy, he had his own career.

I have lived in 7 decades now, the 70s is the one I would go back to. Bee Gees, Donna Summer, KC, contrasted by Queen, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, contrasted by a host of great R and B acts from Diana Ross to Stevie Wonder. It was truly a complete decade of different great talents.

    Do more Bee Gees, please?
YOU SHOULD BE DANCING (their brother Andy joined them on stage for this one). This song is a classic back in the day, played on black radio, in clubs everywhere, and is the song John Travolta famously danced to in the movie "Saturday Night Fever "
NIGHTS ON BROADWAY ( if you do the 1975 Midnight Special version, you'll hear Barry in his natural voice -- no falsetto! Robin in his natural voice, which is higher than Barry's, and a surprise at the end with Maurice doing the falsetto! If you do the studio version, it's Barry doing the falsetto at the end.
FANNY BE TENDER WITH MY LOVE (Legendary Quincy Jones said this is his favorite R&B song by anyone). One of mine too!
LOVE SO RIGHT (the story takes a twist in this song and Barry pours out his emotions) really singing one of the best falsetto voices ever, to me!

This epic monster banger with 33 million sold singles was claimed from in a gallup survey of all radio stations around the globe as most airplayed song of all time in 2017- every 20 seconds - this plays everywhere around the world and for sure it is the most iconic song of the 70´s decade. It’s a part of our shared cultural heritage now - one of those pop miracles that just never gets old, never wears off, never loses its charge. It remains alive. And indeed one of the most covered pop songs in history
This epic legendary video was filmed on MGM Studios in Culver City in Hollywood California in the filmset ruins of That’s Entertainment starring Fred Astaire from 1974 during the same time when the BeeGees filming the Beatles movie, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band 1978 on the lot at the same time.

    Thanks for your reaction.
The BeeGees were: the tallest and oldest brother (with the big hair and beard), Barry Gibb, born September 1, 1946, the only surviving Gibb brother. Robin Gibb (with the long hair, no beard), born December 22, 1949-passed away May 20, 2012, and Robin's fraternal twin brother Maurice (the balding brother with the beard, pronounced "Morris") Gibb, born December 22, 1949-passed away January 12, 2003. They also had another, younger, brother Andy Gibb, born March 5, 1958-passed away March 10, 1988.
The three oldest brothers were born on the Isle of Man (UK). Oldest brother Barry got seriously burned when he accidentally pulled boiling tea over himself at 18 months old. He was in coma for a while, nearly died and was in hospital for many months. Because of this, he did not learn to talk until after the twins were born. Later the family moved to Manchester and from there they emigrated to Australia in 1958, right after Andy was born.
All 4 brothers are just natural musical talents. All of them dropped out of high school in their early teens and none of them could read or write music. All their compositions were created completely organically.
Their musical career, which they had started as little kids, didn't lead to international success so they moved back to the UK in 1967. Then they had a string of big hits, until they temporarily broke up around 1970 for 15 months. Started back up, looking for a new sound which they first found in 1974 with the transitional album "Mr. Natural". After that "Main Course" was the first album that moved them into a new direction: more rhythm&blues, dance music like with great hits like Nights on Broadway and Jive Talkin' (and was also actually the first album on which their logo was introduced).
From 1976 on they went all out with falsetto driven dance music which lead to their biggest commercial success as they provided classic songs for the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack (1977 Stayin' Alive, How Deep is Your Love, Night Fever amongst them). You should react to the 1979 live version of Stayin' Alive, too ua-cam.com/video/7niXSh7vWRI/v-deo.html Other great songs to analyze: great album tracks from the 1979 Spirits Having Flown album, the title song: ua-cam.com/video/WH_j90fCIk4/v-deo.html, the outrageously beautiful song Reaching Out ua-cam.com/video/vfHUS5Mf00Q/v-deo.html. From their Still Waters album, Smoke and MIrrors: ua-cam.com/video/MT9vRHSWNbk/v-deo.html. From the 1960's I've gotta get a message to you ua-cam.com/video/CA4CInDnTk8/v-deo.html. And from the 1990's the simple song Blue Island live in an accoustic version: ua-cam.com/video/162GlAEpfrY/v-deo.html.
Andy was kind of Barry's mini me, about half a foot shorter and 12 years younger but they were the only lefties of the family. However, his voice was nowhere near as broad in range or as strong as Barry's. As producer Alby Galuten said in the book "Tales of the brothers Gibb "Andy's falsetto was nowhere near Barry's." Andy had a lower, huskier, sound to his voice and his range was not as big as Barry's. I personally always thought his voice was much better suited to songs of his first album, Flowing Rivers. Andy died of myocarditis - which is an inflammation of the heart - on March 10, 1988, 5 days after his 30th birthday. His heart had been weakened by his drug addiction over the years which, by the way, was also the main reason for his split from Victoria Principal. He also had a congenital heart problem that was later also discovered in Barry and Barry's second son Ashley. Try listening to the song Dreamin' on ua-cam.com/video/-KdBVKcSSSw/v-deo.html which is kind of a duet with Barry. And here are the 4 brothers live on stage in 1979 doing You Should Be Dancing ua-cam.com/video/_6MR-E_Qzz0/v-deo.html And finally a few photos of Barry and Andy: i.postimg.cc/jS6n3Jkv/Barry-Andy.jpg and i.postimg.cc/TwnPh8M0/82c126fc42a35d3b737867af41338199.jpg and the 4 brothers with their mother i.postimg.cc/FRNMbwkD/b9b2561eadffee11347573c97063c2f8-zpsd89478eb.jpg

The worst (best) part of Barry’s voice is how effortlessly he can nail those high notes. These three brothers mastered the craft of harmony that damn near every group that came after only wished they could do. To be only surpassed by 5 artists as far as record sales of all time just shows how good they were and to their staying power. They not only wrote their own stuff but have done hundreds for other artists also.

    • @samanthaw3845
      @samanthaw3845 8 місяців тому

Stayin’ Alive has a bpm of 103, so definitely a good CPR song. The Imperial March (bpm also 103) is also good! Also Dancing Queen by ABBA (100 bpm), I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor (117 bpm), and Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson (100 bpm) if you want to change it up a bit! Baby Shark or Another One Bites the Dust (115 and 110 bpm, respectively) if you want everyone around to hate you lol.
A bit morbid, but the first time I actually did CPR on a patient, I was humming The Final Countdown - only in my head though, definitely not actually out loud!!

Ahhh ~ what Talent!! I hope sometime you'll look up the music video of this with clips from the movie Saturday Night Fever with John Travolta, and of course, check out the movie also. Bee Gee's song You Should Be Dancing, also, same movie, great song, actually the whole soundtrack was great, which won a Grammy for Album of the Year. And the movie is a bit edgier and darker than you'd expect. Enjoyed your reaction.

How does he hit those notes? My kids and I have a bet going on about that - I'm blaming the too-tight white pants. Watch more of their videos! Pretty sure they go shopping and look for 2 sizes too small ;) But really, it's training, and natural talent combined. The tighty whitey pants just help, dontchaknow?

I remember doing that way too often *lol! And while true, it's more fun thinking about them squeezing into boys sizes ;) My main problem with pants from the 70's - they were always too long. Hovering at 5 ft just doesn't make ready-made clothing fit properly. But I really miss bell bottoms!

Talk about hitting a high note that is seemingly not humanly possible, listen to Brad Delp, the lead
singer of the group Boston when he performed 'More Than A Feeling'. Everything else, by anyone
    else is anti-climatic, for sure.
