  • We were recently talking about our first almost four and a half months and hitting 10,000 subscribers and Coach noted that Black Sabbath's "The Wizard" was perhaps his favorite song we've listened to so far, and that it very well may be one of his favorite songs of all time. So we wanted to bring this special version of the song to you guys, which was recorded almost a half century after the original version. This is the third version of this song on the channel, but you can never have too much of "The Wizard".

I’m 61 years old and have been listening to Black Sabbath since I was 17. I’ve heard every bootleg you can imagine and my takeaway is this. Tony Iommi rarely if ever makes a mistake. Given all the power that’s behind him and in his hands it’s really incredible.
They truly are the greatest band ever.
God did the world such a favor by getting these guys together.
    Love the channel.

I do love the hat Mr. Coach 👍❤️ I find this song such a journey, even listening to it umpteenth times! Black Sabbath were and are true masters. How can marble-mouth Ozzy sing so soothingly? How??!!?? 😂 And his harmonica…wow! I just love this studio setting 🤟🔥 Both of your reactions are so genuine and perfect. Thank you so much 🙏🤟🤟

“Changes “ is their best known ballad, but “ Solitude “ is excellent also . And Bill Ward sings “ It’s Alright “ which has a light, ballad-like feel compared to the rest of Sabbath’s work…They also did excellent instrumentals-“ Laguna Sunrise “ and “ Fluff” are two good ones .@@CoachCastTV

Ronnie James Dio's arrival as Black Sabbath's vocalist marked a turning point in their sound. The music became more intricate, dramatic, and infused with classical elements, retaining the heaviness but with a soaring, epic feel. This was a significant departure from Ozzy Osbourne's era. Even after Dio's passing, the band hasn't fully recaptured that raw, early sound.
Interestingly, drummer Bill Ward wasn't present during this period with Dio. Back when they were recording Vol. 4, a prank by his bandmates nearly turned disastrous. They found Bill passed out after a night of drinking at John dupont house."Yes Founder of John Dupont paints." and, thinking it was funny, covered him entirely in gold spray paint. Tragically, the paint blocked his pores, leading to a seizure and requiring an ambulance. This incident, along with other wild pranks like Tony Iommi setting Bill's feet on fire with rubbing alcohol (multible times), highlights the band's wilder side back then.
Returning to the music,Besides Bill Wards obvious rejection Ozzy's comeback, despite minimal rehearsal, successfully rekindled the energy of their early songs. Vinnie Appice, a highly respected drummer, filled Bill Ward's shoes during this reunion era (1980-1982 and on and off until 1997). He also collaborated with Ronnie James Dio in Heaven and Hell and other projects.

Love it! To be honest, I could quite happily listen to the bass, guitar and drums, without Ozzie and his harmonica (no disrespect to Ozzie) and that doesn't happen with many bands...
What impressed me was that they got through it all in a single take. No duff notes, no missed cues. That shows true talent, and the strength of experience.

People have mentioned Bill Ward's reasons for not playing anymore, but I'd like to add that as of 2021 everyone in the band has patched up personal differences and gets along now. They've even talked about wanting to play "one last show" or make "one last album" with the full, original lineup, but Bill Ward most likely wouldn't be able to tour on it if they were to do so bc of his health issues.
I'd still love to hear the original 4 in 2024 (or beyond) and see just what they come up with, though.

Great reaction! You need to check out Toni Iomi (Black Sabbath) and Brian May & Queen at the 1992 Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert performing "I Want it All" by Queen. Also Roger Daltry of "The Who" singing the vocals on that song. Two great guitars!! Also can you react to AC/DC Back in Black?

We had no idea Tony participated in the Tribute concert. We'll keep that in mind. Coach has played AC/DC around the house and in the car for many decades and even Mrs. Coach can probably sing the lyrics to even their lesser-known songs. LOL Not sure how much of a reaction that we could give to Coach's favorite group. Although there may be some live performances Mrs. Coach hasn't seen, but Coach has probably watched every AC/DC video on UA-cam just about.
