I attempted to install this without your video and it went terribly. Like really bad. Man your video was incredibly helpful and exactly what I needed. I would have been completely lost without it!
I am doing this to a 1996 Glenfield 30AW. I am going to paint the stock black like the 94 CST. I have installed the Ranger Point forend, and have ordered the Ranger Point loop. I have also ordered an XS Lever rail and sight set for the rifle. I am going to have the barrel cut and threaded, and have the gun Ceracoated in matte black. Basically I am making my own Dark series 30-30. I ordered the mag tube hanger, screw, and plug like the Dark series rifles have. I will have to have a dovetail cut under the barrel, but I don’t have to go back with the barrel band up front. That is about $35 in parts from Marlin but well worth it IMO if you are making a rifle like this.
Suppress the CST - you will not regret it. 38specials is just a metalic click and then the sound if impact. I am working up 180grain loads for my CST this weekend and cannot wait to test them.
Chuck W it is a local danish production and not expensive, but works like a charm. It does not take a lot of volume to suppress the 357. Using the same suppressor on both will give you a bit less effect on the .300 BLK as the hole is too big.
@@christianolsen9781 One product that I have been looking at is a modular solvent trap that can be modified after paying the NFA tax and getting ATF approval. It being modular, you can change out the end caps to different diameter openings.
I’d say having the suppressor on the rifle is practiCOOL rather than tactiCOOL considering you’ll be able to configure it to your other firearms. Having a suppressor on your 336 paired with some subsonic ammo is a great combo to have for your homestead. And what’s the damage in threading the barrel? Worst case you decide you don’t want to have a suppressor on the rifle anymore and can just put a cap on it. No harm, no foul. Love the brush gun series you’ve been doing! Your video’s have really been helping me in making my decision on what to pick up for my 336W to turn it into a beauty of a rifle. Can’t wait to see the handguard comparison, because that is the last thing on my list of parts to buy!
Thanks for the input! I'm glad you've enjoyed the series and found it helpful. Lots to come for sure! Comparison video coming very soon. Thanks for watching!
@@buildhuntxplore So I bought a Boyds stock and it is requiring some altering. It is messing up my trigger. I filed it down some but it still isn't right.
Excellent video Brian. Thank you for posting. One question regarding this product. Are you able to mount a M LOK angled fore grip (AGF) on the bottom of the handguard? A Magpul AGF as an example. Thank you
Will this handgaurd work with a glenfield 336A 30-30? It holds 4 in the magazine tube, would i need a longer magazine tube first? I just got it and definitely dig the way this handgaurd looks.
Thanks! Yes it’s needed. On a non-barrel band model there is a tenon post up front that holds the mag tube in place and retains the end cap. On barrel band models there is only an end cap and screw.
Hi. I just installed my foreend on an 1894 and even after installing the Marlin factory barrel end I’m getting a lot of side play on the mag tube since there’s not a lot of hold since the factory wooden foreend is not there to snugly hold it and now only the factory barrel band is holding it. Amy solution to this?
@7:58 "They can be a bear sometimes." Like right now, in fact. @#%&**! I'm replacing the chintzy Marlin follower (Is it just me or is that thing just a repurposed Magic Marker cap?) so I finally gave in and ordered the quick-takedown screw with it. Fiber optic front sights were gone nearly as soon as they came back in stock, so I'll have to be faster next time.
Sorry, it's off my 1895 SBL. I thought it fit the look better than the standard stock. I did a poll on Instagram asking what everyone thought looked better. Also, yep it has a QD hole or you can mount a Grovtec stud in the M-Lok slot if you prefer that mounting method.
@@buildhuntxplore Appreciate the reply! I noticed on their newer handguards that it said the W was not supported but hoped that they had an alternative. Looks like I have to go with the Midwest Industries, even though I prefer RPP's. Looking forward to the video, thanks again.
Where dod you get the laminate butt stock for your rifle, and was there a video of installing that that I missed? The gun is coming along nicely and looks awesome by the way!
Thanks so so much! It's off my 1895 SBL. I did a poll on Instagram asking which looked better. This won, plus I think it fits the look much better with the black handguard.
Wolf's Prairie Outdoors I voted for it. I think it looked better than the solid back. And it does look good with the black handguard. Plus I’m just not a huge fan of stainless rifles; not sure why as I like stainless revolvers. Having said that, if you plan to paint/cerakote the rifle anyway then you can paint the handguard to match however you like.
@Keith Roxo thanks! That's funny. I'm always a fan of stainless for it's practicality around here, but I much prefer the black/dark look. Thanks for watching!
They don't make them anymore. As far as I know, they were only made during the Remington era. It will have a matte, parkerized finish and say "336W" on the left side of the barrel just behind the barrel band.
I love the build, but I haven’t heard or seen what you did to the stock. It went from normal wood to what it is now with no explanation or what parts were used
You really loose a lot of energy at 16" b arrel. With a 20" you still are far short of 24" test barrels. I might keep it a .30-30, but I would be more likely to do a .38-55. Another option would be to convert it to a takedown and have barrel sets for it in .30-30, .32 Special and of course .38-55. All the same case and that's what old timers used to do. If you shot out the .30-30 you rechambered to .32 Special, and when you shot that out you went to .38-55, all using the same barrel. Talk about a gun your great, great, great grand children will still be using.
I’m so frustrated with this company they have poor customer service. They sent me the wrong barrel band and they’re saying it’s correct one. They won’t pick up the phone now
Mr Reyes. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your barrel band attachment hardware. I'll have someone in support connect up with you this morning.
That’s got to be the gaudiest way to Bubba a classic lever action rifle! Are you trying to add an m-lok flashlight mount or fore grip? The flashlight won’t be mounted far enough forward to avoid splashing the barrel and a fore grip on a lever action is just dumb! Obviously this isn’t weather proof, your not deleting barrel bands and it’s not free floated, so why the Bubba build?
Handguard is a waste of time and money. And why suppress a budget and perfectly fine 30-30? Yeah I hate the handguns. Id rather put the funds into better sights and ammo. Instead of these projects I'd rather see the effort and money put into a genuine backcountry hunt with this rifle. Im to talking about a real remote place to go hunt in, and not a postage stamp woodlot or tiny state forest. Im referring to big remote country. Im doing this but need to decide between my Marlins and winchesters. Elk and deer and bear are on the docket and im thinking its going to be 30-30, or my winchester 71 348, or the old winchester 1895 30-40 Krag. I just need to decide.
Sorry you hate them. It's definiltey love or hate with them. We do have our classic rifles that will never get altered. They are a ton of fun too! We are building a homestead (Forest To Farm, here on UA-cam) and once that is done, we will be doing some traveling hunts too! Best of luck, all great choices!

Make lever guns popular again. I like the AR platform but nothing beats a solid lever gun.

Nice! Yeah, I've shot the CST suppressed and it's amazing! Definitely on my list of things to get. Thanks for watching!

Wiha brand bits are really nice and hard. Great hollow grind and definitely resist twisting and rolling the tip.
Thanks for the tip!
IF you chop it, split the difference and go 18 so you get a bit more punch out of it and still lighter/more maneuverable
Thanks for the input! That's been a thought as well.
Use purple loctite. It will hold against some pretty serious recoil, but is still removable.
Cool, thanks for the tip!

Hey thanks and you're welcome! No, the mounting is different. I'm pretty sure that Louthan Gunworks could work it out for you though!

I'm not sure about that. I would call Ranger Point and ask them to be sure. The handguard is definitely a great upgrade!
who would you recommend to do the barrel cut and tube on the 336W for a 16.5 length? and what would you recommend for the spring cut length? Thanks
Great video. Can I ask, Do you have to reinstall the end barrel band? Or is it because it’s the 18” and not the 16”

LOL yeah it does look like a marker cap! yeah definitely have to be quick with the ordering, worth the wait though! Thanks for watching!
Do you know if it is possible to make a carbon fiber barrel for a marlin 336c, if so who would do it and how much more accurate would the gun become.
No idea. Would be pretty cool for sure.
Be cool if all this came in a kit
That would be a great option!
Where did the different stock come from, no video? Does the Ranger Point handguard have a spot for a sling stud on the bottom?

I can't find that barrel band adapter anywhere on RPP's website or anywhere else. 😓

There isn't one. I grabbed the one off of my 1895 SBL and used it one day. It just kind of happened, haha.
How do you know if you have an older 336W or a newer 336W?
They don't make them anymore. As far as I know, they were only made during the Remington era. It will have a matte, parkerized finish and say "336W" on the left side of the barrel just behind the barrel band.

Wait where did the stock come from
The stock came off my 1895 SBL
What’s the part # for this stock replacement?
Not sure, it's the stock off my 1895 SBL
Will this work for the 1894cs as well?
I believe it will. The only models it wont work on are the Youth model and any with an Octagonal barrel.
How easy is this with the 336w?
It was super easy! That’s the model used here and it’s a breeze to do with this entire series 👍
