I just received mine this week from you. I must say they are sturdy and loud. I am able to turn the NOX volume down by several numbers and still hear the faint tones. I made the mistake of testing them on a Garrett 250 because it was handy and it about blew my ears off. Anxious to try these on the beach Friday.

Tony...I just received my headphones in the Mail. 3-days turnaround is great! The Craftsmanship is excellent. I don't plan on SCUBA diving or Snorkeling. But, I'm glad to know I'm safe if I get caught in one of the all to frequent torrential downpours Florida is famous for. The MSA white and black color scheme give the headphones their 'Star Wars Storm Trooper' look, so often mentioned in reviews. I'm a happy customer. Thanks Tony.

I modified a my Tesoro Cutlass II umax to make it waterproof and also modified an old set of headphones so the the connector is waterproof. The cans are water resistant, but not waterproof. I currently am working on another pair that will be waterproof eventually, but am finding a hard time figuring out what piezo elements to use.

Hi Tracy. If you’re going to use them underwater, yes, drain holes help a lot and you can always tape em up in windy conditions. But if yer not taking them underwater, holes aren’t necessary.

Trying to help a friend with this modification- I realize the piezo driver is ideal for the audible frequency emitted from detectors, but are standard, magnetic drivers problematic? Do they draw too much current? Affect the sound enough to affect your hunt? Thank you for your video!
Not really problematic but they're not waterproof (at least I cant find any WP ones), a lot more complicated to mount in the cup and they do use more power (though not appreciably more). And, generally speaking the detector output is just a varying buzz of frequencies and really doesn't need the added quality of the magnetic speaker. IMHO.. Yer welcome Jeff :)

Hey bud. I’m not sure what you want. I used to custom build that plug using two components. I combined a 4-pin Amphenol plug and an 1/8” TRS stereo plug and epoxied the two together. Email me at the address in my comment section if you need more detail. Thanks for watching..

I'm still getting used to the machine so nothing is set in stone yet. It really kinda depends on current beach conditions but in general, Beach#1, if I go in the water, Beach #2 Sens 22. It's almost impossible to manually GB on my beaches so auto Tracking seems to work pretty good. Everything else factory preset.
I tried .02 and it was too flimsy. Settled on .03. Tried HIPS, ABS, PETG, POLY CARB and KYDEX. So far, Kydex wins. Acrylic would sound great I think. I might try it.
Good morning Mr. Eisenhower, what is the name of the glue used for the electric piezo? I see it clearly as the one that uses minelab in the earphones of excalibur II.... Many thanks for your help.
I use a thickened industrial CA glue to fix the piezo to the sound board. Then glue on an o-ring, drill holes for the leads and fill with flowable silicone. Yup, very similar to the Koss phones. Thanks for watching joe

Hey Brad. If the plug is a screw in plug similar to the one in my thumbnail then the headphones are very likely Amphibians which are waterproof. The other tell is: look inside the cup. If you see a flat, textured plastic surface, recessed slightly below the pad frame, then the speakers were built by me and are definitely waterproof 🙂

I live in the Pacific Northwest 150 miles from Seattle or any beach for that matter lol! but i plan on spending the summers with my daughter and grand children they live next to the ocean so i plan on doing alot of beach detecting ive been detecting since 1976 but not any beaches so that being said i am interested in an all around detector such as the Minelab Equinox 800. my question is would you recomend buying it or would you recomend a diffrent one? I dont mean to put you on the spot with my question but i know you have been beach detecting along time and i really trust your expert opinion. This will be my last detector i ever planing on buying since i own a few good land detectors but there not very good on salt and sand and i would greatly appreciate your advice on a proffesional beach detector id appreciate any advice you could give me on this issue. sincerley. , Paul Cooley.
Hi Paul. Like a lot of other detectorist when I find something I like I just stay with it. And that is pretty much what I’ve done with the Equinox 800. I really like it! But I know that there are a lot of other good piece of equipment out there including one that I also use, the Minelab Excalibar II. So this is what I would recommend. If you’re going to hunt the beach, wade and snorkel, The Equinox is probably going to be the machine for you. If you’re a diver, the Excalibar is definitely the best choice. Tony, Im a senior and all i need is that i hay grey ghost HP 1/4 in plug and my 600 has 1/8 plug, how or what can i buy to use my grey ghost. ?
You should be able to buy a 1/4” to 1/8” mono audio adapter. It won’t be waterproof but it will allow you to use your GGs on your 600.

I'm still getting used to the machine so nothing is set in stone yet. It really kinda depends on current beach conditions but in general, Beach#1, if I go in the water, Beach #2 Sens 22. It's almost impossible to manually GB on my beaches so auto Tracking seems to work pretty good. Everything else factory preset.
Can i get a pair for the manticore?

Hey Tony, I have done some vaccu-forming in the past for the model airplane industry. What thickness of card stock did you start with.
I tried .02 and it was too flimsy. Settled on .03. Tried HIPS, ABS, PETG, POLY CARB and KYDEX. So far, Kydex wins. Acrylic would sound great I think. I might try it.
Good morning Mr. Eisenhower, what is the name of the glue used for the electric piezo? I see it clearly as the one that uses minelab in the earphones of excalibur II.... Many thanks for your help.
I use a thickened industrial CA glue to fix the piezo to the sound board. Then glue on an o-ring, drill holes for the leads and fill with flowable silicone. Yup, very similar to the Koss phones. Thanks for watching joe

Yep, you won’t need the WM08 module but it’s best to buy low latency headphones. APTX-LL

Hey Brad. If the plug is a screw in plug similar to the one in my thumbnail then the headphones are very likely Amphibians which are waterproof. The other tell is: look inside the cup. If you see a flat, textured plastic surface, recessed slightly below the pad frame, then the speakers were built by me and are definitely waterproof 🙂

No prob bud, the piezos are sealed with flowable silicone. It’s used for windshield repair. I get it from any auto parts store.

Hello!Tony! i enjoy watching your video's so much i subscibed to your channel. I live in the Pacific Northwest 150 miles from Seattle or any beach for that matter lol! but i plan on spending the summers with my daughter and grand children they live next to the ocean so i plan on doing alot of beach detecting ive been detecting since 1976 but not any beaches so that being said i am interested in an all around detector such as the Minelab Equinox 800. my question is would you recomend buying it or would you recomend a diffrent one? I dont mean to put you on the spot with my question but i know you have been beach detecting along time and i really trust your expert opinion. This will be my last detector i ever planing on buying since i own a few good land detectors but there not very good on salt and sand and i would greatly appreciate your advice on a proffesional beach detector id appreciate any advice you could give me on this issue. sincerley. , Paul Cooley.
Hi Paul. Like a lot of other detectorist when I find something I like I just stay with it. And that is pretty much what I’ve done with the Equinox 800. I really like it! But I know that there are a lot of other good piece of equipment out there including one that I also use, the Minelab Excalibar II. So this is what I would recommend. If you’re going to hunt the beach, wade and snorkel, The Equinox is probably going to be the machine for you. If you’re a diver, the Excalibar is definitely the best choice.
