Great hunt! Love your underwater adventures. Heard nothing but good things about the Nox, been waiting until all the bugs are worked out. Thanks for sharing...
I wonder if this user ever flooded the Equinox like I did? Mine was repaired under warranty but took forever. I bought the Excalibur for water detecting.
ive heard complaints about gray ghost for equinox not being loud enough. i also understand that the new ones dont have the volume knob on the side anymore like yours did.
The new ones are called the Amphibian II and they are definitely louder than the ones I used in this video. I actually have a pair and I'll be doing some filming in September diving with the Amphibian II headphones. I just use the control on my Equinox 800 to adjust the volume.
@@DetectorComparisons thanks for the clarification. I just ordered the amphibian 2 's to replace the yellow ones from hungary that were the only option before the grey ghosts. Replacing them because the ear cups are too shallow and crush my ears and make them hurt. The cord is way too short also.
@@HouseholdDog Not impressed with the volume but i still use them in the water. If im not going in the water i got a pair of $20 koss ur20 home audio headphones that are super loud and awesome. You have to buy the $30 adapter on ebay to use them though.
How do those headphones seal against the headphone outlet? Does it screw in with a waterproof seal and O-ring or something? I would be nervous about it leaking.
YOU ARE AWESOME!!! I CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH!!!! 10 FEET!!! THAT'S FANTASTIC! I WAS THINKING YOU WOULD SAY 2-3 FEET. AS SOON AS I PUT THEM UNDER THE WATER, I HEAR FAINT SIGNALS! ON THE MINELAB'S KOSS AND THE L.S. PELSO. I BETTER TEST THE DETECTOR FOR BEING BROKEN BECAUSE THEY BOTH CAN BARELY VE HEARD! THEN, I'M STILL BUYING THE AMPHIBIAN 2 SET!!! Thank you soooo much for your time and experience shared!!! Brian
What type of BCD are you wearing when you detect? I dive in fresh cold water with 7mm wetsuit, and trying to decide between jacket or back inflate for detecting. Currently I use the CTX, but it’s terrible for fine jewelry and have the ATP as my backup. A question I’m sure you’ve been asked and answered already, but CTX, CZ21 or DetectorPro? I know it varies by person and region, so fresh water comparison only.....if you have the time and don’t mind answering? Now off to watch a few more of your videos where I may find my answers already. LOL
I've used all the machines you mentioned and they are all good. Sometimes he's a detectorpro because it's the easiest to move under water but the Minelab and CZ 21 will go deeper in freshwater and saltwater. I just use a regular cpro BC and it works fine for me. You just have to find something comfortable to wear over your wetsuit. I also use a 7 mil most of the time
DetectorComparisons Thanks for the reply, I’m sure you get a lot of repetitive questions. CTX has been my go to machine for years, but feel the need to switch to a true water machine. I’ve just ordered a Scubapro Knighthawk (wing BCD), so I’ll see how that works for detecting. I figured there would be more room to move my arms around with a wing over a jacket style. As a side note, my CTX was no match against the Deus in England last year on their rolled fields. CTX owned the flat ones, but the rolled ones (IMO) the Deus is king of the crop.
When you use them in shallow water, how many feet down? And can you hear the detector pretty well using the Amphibian II, but obviously not as much as the GoPro picks up?
This is the first production set. Now that they have passed the test, they should be available starting next week. Check with Detectorpro for a list of dealers.
Hi l liked your video. İ wish succesfull divings. İ bought same dedector. İ used before garret sea hunter. İ want to ask did you try without head speaker? Can you hear voice of dedector..?
@@DetectorComparisons thanks I'm really hard of hearing and was just looking for a little bit more adj. I have the volume all the way up on my machine but could use a bit more. Thanks
I am now using the Amphibian II headphones (an upgrade from the original Amphibians) and they test at 93db which is great for water hunting. On land I have to turn down the volume on my Equinox from 25 to 22 because they are too loud.
I hate my Gray Ghost Amphibian headphones for my 800. The sound is barely audible and was very very dissapointed with them.. I have tried contacting detector pro through phone and email and have no answers on phone or email. I wonder if mine are defective? I have never used waterproof headphones before. The plastic piece that replaces the regular speakers, is bent at the bottom (on both sides L & R). Is this normal? Thanks.
I know it has been a long time since you wrote this message but I hope you can answer me. I also bought the Gray Ghost Amphibian headphones and I have the same problem, I don't hear almost anything, how did I solve this problem? Thanks!!
your channel is OAR SUM! :-) I am saving for a minelab ctx 3030 because....well just because you found so many things detecting with one and I would like to as well :-) however, is there a detector that is better for the same amount of cash? your advice is greatly appreciated!
I was planning to get the 3030 too. But then someone pointed me at the Equinox 800. Almost the same machine as the 3030. You give up the GPS, mapping, and the color display. All features that I would like to have.......but, the price of the 800 is less than half of the 3030.
How many deep finds did you see come up though? I'm not a hater. He's a great guy doing a great job making video. I'm just doing some "observational testing" lol. No gold though? Gold is heavier and gets down deeper? The CTX 3030 pulled deeper targets as did the Fisher CZ-21 if you go back and watch those field tests. I've watched the videos religously to help me make up my mind in getting another water detector this time I watched for the salt/black sand testing because honestly a land detector can hunt creeks well. Another good video. Maybe try testing the old dock site which was loaded with iron and see how it does. Although if it were me I'd be avoiding that spot too unless a cut opened up or a storm came though. Good Luck & HH
Excited to finally see the GG for the Equinox, even though water season is almost over in my area (high today was 63. Brrrr!). Will get a pair this coming spring though!
Finally bought a pair and the sound underwater is almost non existent, even with the volume all the way up on both the headphones and the detector. The ones I have for my at pro are super loud and need to be kept turned down. so disappointed.
Thank you for an awesome video! Great job. could you really hear the headphones loud enough so that you're not trying hard to hear what signals are coming through? Should I get a pair of these headphones? Have they held up? I have tried the Minelab headphones for under water and I also tried the Pelso underwater headphonesand I can barely hear anything under the water. Above the water everything is clear but I barely can hear anything. Am I doing something wrong? Or is it the headphones? Or maybe could it be my equinox? Please let me know if I should buy a pair of these headphones that you wore underwater. How loud are they? Thanks for answering my questions! Brian
I use the new Grey Ghost Amphibian II headphones. They are now made in the USA and put out plenty of volume for diving when using the equinox in shallow water. The camera always hears the signals better than you could hear them when wearing your headphones with a wetsuit.
Does the electric current of the detectors keep sharks away? I am of the generation completely effected by the Jaws movie and so much want to do some underwater detecting. But sharks..... Right?
I don't think the amount of current can drive the shark away but I read fishermen put magnets on their net and no more shark. The headphones are non magnetic it uses piezo disc. You can bring magnet when you dive next time and try if the shark will go away 😬. Then let us know ✌️😁
No problem with the sharks, I haven't been bothered in 35 years. I've seen quite a few but they don't want any part of you when you're on the bottom blowing bubbles. Now if you flounder around up on top with a wetsuit that's a different story
I have been working with Detectorpro for years making the Amphibians and now we worked with Minelab to make the Amphibians for the Equinox. No claim at all with the detector, just the headphones.
I use the Amphibian II Gray Ghost Headphones which are the newer version and they work great. A little overkill being able to take them down 200 feet but I know they won't fail in water.

How many meter you can bring that mesin for scuba diving
no more than 10 feet

Good question. I never tried it without the headphones. My guess is that you should be able to hear it, sound travels very well underwater.
Where have you been. You have not posted in awhile
Busy year but dive season is in full swing over the next several weeks!
Where did you get the headphones from?
All the major metal detecting outlets carry them. Gray Ghost amphibians for the Equinox
@@DetectorComparisons do they all have the volume control on the side like the ones in the video for the 800
@@douggrindstaff960 No, the volume control is not needed on the headphones because you can adjust the volume through the detector.
