Gibson TV is thrilled to present its first show dedicated to the worlds of heavy metal and monster culture in the new series “Metal and Monsters.”

▶Official Metal and Monsters merch is now available HERE: bit.ly/3x2k2TT
Join host Matt “Count D” Montgomery - bassist for the King Freak himself, Rob Zombie. Having been a staple of the Zombie band and live show for the last 16 years, Count D shares his passion for music and film with metal and monster fans worldwide.
In the first episode of “Metal and Monsters,” Count D takes us to Elm Street as he reunites Don Dokken and Robert Englund to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the film “A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors.” Featuring never before seen photos from the “Dream Warriors” video shoot, Robert and Don share stories of musical influences to behind-the-scenes tales of one of the most successful horror franchises in film history.
Throughout the 60 minute episode, viewers are also treated to different segments that explore the worlds of horror and heavy metal!
In a segment titled “Tunes from The Crypt,” Count D revisits Metallica’s 1991 groundbreaking release “The Black Album” and gives fans a chance to win some exclusive prizes!
Count D takes the monster squad on a field trip to the offices of Super7 in San Francisco to talk with founder Brian Flynn and the Super7 team to learn more about their projects with Motörhead, Iron Maiden, and Megadeth in a segment titled “Terror Trek.”
In a historical piece titled “Exhumed from The Tomb,” Count D sits down with guitarist Bill Steer from the legendary death metal band Carcass to explore the band’s 35-year history in a mini-documentary.
Filmed on location in downtown Los Angeles, the backdrop for “Metal and Monsters” is the historic 2,000 seat Los Angeles Theatre. Constructed in 1930, Charlie Chaplin helped fund the completion of the building so it would be ready to premiere his film “City Lights” in January of 1931. After closing its doors in 1994, the Los Angeles Theatre sat vacant for many years until serving as a film and television location for productions including “Man on The Moon,” Charlie’s Angels,” “Mad Men,” and “The Lords of Salem.”
So, if you like blast beats and things that go bump in the night, then this is the show for you!
Welcome to “Metal and Monsters!”

Going to see Dokken in April
Wow this video is great! Such an awesome idea, Gibson is killing it with all these videos and this series is just as cool! Proud to be a long time Gibson user and consumer!!
That was fantastic!
Dokken, Englund and the legendary Bill Steer.
Good work.
Thanks for watching!!
I love how Bill Steer explains the evolution of Carcass from their primitive beginnings to a more cultured beast. Makes perfect sense and is only reassuring to us, longtime, hardcore Carcass fans, e.g., we knew it all along, "Swansong" versus the record label, band having run its natural course at that time, but should also help understand the band's musical development for those who are perhaps not as familiar with Carcass and/or may have been disheartened by the evolution (again, "Swansong" - which in my opinion is still great, classic Carcass; more genius riffs on that album than most bands can come up with in a lifetime!). What a gem of a guitarist and a human being. What albums - all different, all great!! What a band! Thank you, Mr. Steer. Thank you, Carcass!🤘
Yeah well said! And yeah Swansong is a great album by a perfect band!
I love Swansong. Got me into Carcass
Really amazing to see Bill in here. Severely underrated in my opinion, his pioneering work in both Carcass & Napalm Death speaks for itself. A monster guitarist!!
LEGEND!!!
Fuck yeah. Bill was the spark that lit my fire when I was 13 all the way back in 1991. His Napalm material along with "Reek" and Carcass "Peel Sessions" were part of my musical bedrock.
What a great show! I just saw Carcass post on Instagram of this series, I am so happy you featured Bill Steer. He is so talented and a monster guitarist. I have known him for years, I admire him as a person and metal legend.
Carcass are blowing me away. I remember a buddy of mine lent me a Carcass tape in JR high, it was sick, tunes about all sorts of crazy shit. Decrepitating bowel erosion? What? Anyhow just last year I stumbled upon HEARTWORK. I'm a little late to what's happening, but glad I could catch up. Amazing guitar work. The new CD is blazing through my skull as well.
Carcass is fantastic! That's awesome!
Bill and his Missus DJ sometimes in a bar I frequent in Hackney, nice people...
Very cool never ever let 80s 90s die this shows gives a glimmer of hope for Gen Z I'm Gen X experienced all 80s fkn epic period in time Long live R N R!!!
Bloody great show! Give Bill Steer his own signature junior. His riffs and solos are some of the greatest ever. A true humble legend.
Bill steer along with dimebag are my guitar heroes! So blessed to have met both of them.
Is Bill as nice as he seems? Met Robert Englund and he is ace!
@@LittleMissGrosser in all honesty, he couldn’t have been more nice if he tried 😊
@@LittleMissGrosser Nicer!!
Bill Steer from CARCASS is one of the most inspiring guitarrist in metal in these days...
Agreed!!!
Been inspiring me since the early 90s. So glad to see him get credit!
@@revsharp777 Their new album rules!

Underrated
One of the coolest things you guys have done is brought back "The Art of The Letter". Everybody should know the proper way to say "thank you" or send gracious greetings, is by writing a letter. Love the video and Robert Englund, one of my favorite childhood characters. Very happy to see this!
Thanks Tim! Look forward to seeing your letter in the Metal and Monsters P.O. Box!
Cool series! I remember seeing Elm Street 3 in the theater. Dokken "Back For The Attack" was the first record I bought when I got my first stereo.
Solid album from start to finish!!
🤘🤘😎
I knew that band in 2012, the first song I heard was Burning like a flame, and was love at first sight, their music have been musicalizing some cool moments in my life, and I spread the word here with my friends in Argentina, there new Dokken fans here since then. We knew the band in diferent moments in history, but the feeling of the discovery, I can assume, is pretty the same
R.J. Ronquillo, surprised to see you here man! Maybe I shouldn't be? Let's see if this influences your channel in any way.🌮
I am curious to hear Don's version of Dream Warriors! What a great episode.
Wonder if anyone has those tapes
Mr. Bill Steer, one of the most underrated guitarist in Metal! Great stuff
The fact that Bill Steer of Carcass is featured here is HUGE. He's been rocking those sick Double Humbucker Melody Maker's & Customs for a while! Give that man a Sig! For Modern Metal, he writes riffs better than anyone else.
Love Bill so much. Bands like Carcass, Gojira, Death etc are so much more than just a band, they're an experience.
What's your favorite Carcass album?
@@gibsonguitar All of them 😭🌹
Thanks for the ad from my teen years record shop (with Todd Michael Hall in it), Heavy Metal Unlimited, Saginaw, MI...Had to double check what I was watching. Surprised to see that on here, too say the least 😆🤘
From the West side of the mitten. Never been there but heard of it. Cool to see.🔥☠🔥
As one of Freddys children it was great to see this program. This was an era where the music and the movies of this horror generation was unrivalled.
I seen Dream Warriors in the theater with my dad. One of the greatest memories I have with my dad
I love this "videofanzine"! As a movie buff and heavy metal maniac this is right up my alley so keep up the great work and greetings from Finland!
I'm so happy that a show like this exists!! Thank you, Gibson for caring about us Metal Heads!
Thanks so much for watching! We're looking out for metal maniacs everywhere!!!
My first guitar riff I learned how to play back in 1980 was Louie Louie. I was 10 years old. This is so cool to see Don Dokken speaking in this. Thanks Gibson!
Dear Gibson,
Please make more of these, thank you.
More episodes coming!!!
Always great to hear from the great Robert Englund. He is indeed a living horror icon. A great video pairing him with metal music. It’s not that far fetched to assume we horror nuts are also metal maniacs. 🤘🏽
Indeed he is. And exactly people love horror movies for the same reason we love metal, it's fun!
The movie, "River's Edge" (1986) was one of the first movies to feature Heavy Metal music. That was a big deal back then with the metalheads.
Hearing Slayer in a movie was awesome.
"Friday the 13th... Jason Lives" (1986), had Alice Coopers song, 'The Man Behind the Mask.'
Then "Nightmare... Dream warriors" was in 1987.
Dude! I'm watching this about four blocks from state street in Saginaw MI. What a trip! That store was a metal head's dream!
Great job Matt Montgomery.
Hell yeah Bill Steer!!!! Don’t bury the headline!!! 😆
As a cinephile and a metal fan, this has brought a smile on my face! 🙂
You had me hooked the minute I heard Electric Crown playing through the beginning!! This is is some seriously good content. Don is class act as always..
One of the best songs off "The Ritual!" Thanks for watching!
@@gibsonguitar It's the best Testament song period. 😎
Me too!
@@HunterRouth you said it, Brother...
Wow, does this show scratch an itch for me! Heavy metal and horror movies are twin passions for me…great job, Gibson. I will definitely be watching future episodes.
Incredibly executed show. The segments, the guests, the editing and direction…great content overall! PERFECT show for metal x horror fans. And kudos for the nice touch of the red and green lighting!! The theater is gorgeous too. Really great choice there.
Love the comment about dreaming about what you want to do and align dreams with what you do well. That is so so so true.
And Count D’s point about not being ashamed of what you love…hell yeah!
Thanks for all of your support!!!
@@gibsonguitar loving it 🤘💀🤘
Great show! My inner 13 year old thoroughly enjoyed it! I mean, i was literally 13 when the movie and Dokken album came out and i was very much into both. The throwback commercials were a nice touch, as well.
Count D did a pretty good job of hyping this up on Instagram without giving it away outright… this this absolutely Awesome!
Thanks for watching Russ!
Best show Ive seen in years 🤘🤘This is what the world needs right now.Love for something that unites People in all Continents 🤘
Dokken and ANOES was a perfect fit. Still remember seeing Dream Warriors in the theater.
This show is badass
Thanks Captain! Hope to see your "Fang Mail" in the Metal and Monsters P.O. Box!!!
Heavy Metal Unlimited. Awesome commercial. YES!!!!! LOVED That place!!! I still have my original RAVEN THE PACK IS BACK promo poster, METALLICA Jump In The Fire Picture disc.... so many memories. I remember the owner's dad used to work there too and he had a tv always running with videos. Back then he had a bootleg of a Metallica show that had been at the Saginaw Civic Center when they opened for Ozzy. Footage of that show is on the Cliff em' All DVD. Great show!!!! Keep up the great work. Listening to Don and Robert was great reminiscing...
Great story!!! Saginaw represent!!!
I remember my brother got dream warriors loved my favorite one for sure man just memories I loved dokken I like 6 or 7 rocking out too it's not love no clue what the song was about but man did I ever love that song I still love it in fact about hour ago I put in my play list been awhile since I heard it I'm still that kid rocking out alone to that song
Please please, oh please, don't stop with Metal & Monsters. Love it!
More episodes coming soon!
Absolutely fanfuckingtastic!!! This show is basically my life! I found it through Super7’s emails and couldn’t be happier. Man, staying up late to watch Headbanger’s Ball when I was a kid, losing my shit if Can I Play With Madness came on…passing while watching whatever Slasher flick was on HBO only to wake up early and play Contra on my NES or practice Bunny Hops on a Sat morning. I’m so fuckin stoked that the spirit is still alive!!
Do you remember the Contra code for the extra 30 lives on NES? Enter Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A then Start (or Select, Start for two players) on the title screen!
@@gibsonguitar Yessir! That was actually the code for all the Konami games! I have a CastleVania tattoo on my leg and a few of those soundtracks on vinyl. That’s turning into a big thing…Have you seen the kid play the 1st level on guitar? Look up “Contra Jungle Jam on guitar” pretty sick!
Bravo Gibson!! Dokken!! Robert Englund!!
I love this show, is awesome I algo grew up watching horror movies and loving metal and Robert will be always one of my favorite actors of all time.
Don dokken most underrated vocalist ever
This series is going to be fucking awesome I loved this first episode can’t wait for more
You know Kirk Hammett, Gene Simmons, Slash etc will be making appearances
Thank you Josh!!!
Legendary. I cannot expect more from the 21st century.(Dokken and Englund) Thank you Gibson Tv.
Thanks for watching Rob!!
Great show!!! Looking forward to episode 2. 🙏
Finally, the show of my dreams. Cheers from Brazil.
More episodes coming soon!
That young gentleman at 3:43 that is asking for Megadeth and Slayer is Todd Michael Hall from RIOT V. That's a clip taken from a TV ad for the Heavy Metal Unlimited Store (Saginaw, MI) from 1988.
I just love what funny, down-to-earth guys Robert and Don are. I love how hip Robert is, and not just some pompous actor who pretends to know about the hip, contemporary (at the time) band also working on the film. Englund really does take the time to know people, Whether it’s costars, musicians, or even fans. GREAT INTERVIEW! 🤘
My Dad took me and my brother to see Dream Warriors , I was 11 and my brother 7 we had an awesome time. My parents are horror movie fans we got to see them all great times.
@31:39 God, listen to that great sound of the 80s. What a time to be alive. I live off the sunset strip today and know this town had to be something else back then. Great job Gibson Tv on this upload.
That was great. Love Dokken!
I have a huge Metal and Horror magazine collection. Famous Monsters is the king.
Whoa! Totally unexpected! Thank you so much for this episode! Carcass rules! :)

Brilliant show ... i can't believe you made this just for me - thanks guys!

I know that someone probably already said this, but BEST SHOW INTRO EVER!!!! The wolfman on guitar is my new spirit guide for life. Freakin pumped about this show!!! Killer concept!!! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Thanks for watching? Did you enter the Metallica contest??? Or how about sending us some "Fang Mail?"
Dream Warriors was my first horror movie I ever got to watch. I was born in 81 . I remember hearing my dad and step mom talking about Freddy and I swear I had imagined the character in my head . I’m sure I had been exposed to the Freddy phenomena before the point I over heard their conversation . I was like wait there’s actually a burnt up guy with a knife glove movie ? I’m sure I was too young for it but my dad , being the absolute coolest dad of all time (a fact I will further confirm in a minute ) said ok if you think you’re ready we’ll go to the video store and rent a Freddy movie . I was hooked I loved it, and horror is still my favorite genre and it’s because of Dream Warriors . Robert Englund is the absolute master and best ambassador for horror ever . My dad a year or so later bought me my first cassette tape . You may have heard of the band , he bought me Appetite for Destruction . Oh yeah he also had a silver Pontiac Trans Am the 301 turbo car. The tops were out of that car every time I remember riding in it . I know it’s not the best TA as far as performance goes but for 6 to 8 year old me it was the absolute most bad ass car on earth . So my dad set me right early on with an appreciation of things that have defined my life . Rock N Roll, Horror movies and Muscle cars would adequately describe sum up my obsessions for the rest of my life . He was absolutely my hero and idle and I’d give anything to cruise down to the lake with him to “ pick up some chicks “ just one more time . I was going to mention Nightmare on Elms Street two as being the sleeper under dog best of the series , but hearing Robert and Don talking about Dream Warriors brought me back to where it all started thanks to my dad . Cool show thanks for the trip down memory lane in a silver 81 TA with the Phoenix in the wind radio tuned into WKDF He did lock it in and rip the knobs off. Oh yeah and the host answered the favorite metal band with the only acceptable and correct answer Megadeth is my favorite metal band. Every one has that one band their always studying and buying up the back catalogue that their friends just don’t get . Megadeth was my band my metal head friends of course we all loved Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, and Korn , but I was the Megadeth guy . That’s what they’d say when they were describing me to a new person , when I’d say something completely sarcastically and inappropriate and everyone was looking at me heads cocked to the side , trying to figure out if I just said it and did he mean it ? He’s the Megadeth guy was their way of saying “ he’s special “ I guess I didn’t care I owned it I knew Megadeth was the best thrash band the first time I heard Symphony of Destruction on MTV . Show just keeps getting cooler I gotta have a Vic Rattlehead action figure now .
I lived to see a show about Metal and Horror which brings Robert Englund and Bill Steer! Impossible not to love it!
I love those background photos from the music video!
This is what should be on MTV... great stuff, thank you! :)

Japan knows good music. Metal is still respected & mainstream in Japan. Sadly the US has forgotten what good music is.
@Gibson TV I loved every second of this show. Me being 49 years old, this brought up a lot of good memories. I really hope that one day the movie "Deathgasm" will appear in the show in some kind of way. Cause to me, that is the Ultimate Combo of Metal and Horror!!! 🤘😝👍
This isthe coolest show I've ever seen in my life! ❤️
Thanks for watching! More episodes coming!
Dream Warriors needs a 4k/Blu-Ray Release.
Man, that's really cool! Awesome !
Well done. What a great location. That venue has such AMAZING history, it’s totally underrated. Great interviews. Glad you didn’t use total canned questions. Never heard the demo version!!! Jeff, I knew could sing, but daaaaaymn! Carcass live is a force. Stoked to have seen them at Psycho Vegas! Dokken more variations of that band than I can count and they all were top notch! The actions figures were three decades to late for me. Guitars and classic cars have taken over :-)
I think that Dream Warriors would have blended in perfectly with the moodier, more melodic nature of Under Lock And Key.
This first episode was AMAZING!! It was as if I was watching my favorite horror magazine, HorrorHound, come to life. Hearing both Robert and Don's back stories about their musical influences, and how it shaped their approach to understanding audience exoectations was very revealing. Also, the interview with Super 7 was great, especially seeing the care taken to make great figures, in particular the Cyborg Eddie from my favorite Maiden album.
I can't wait to see what the next episode holds, and if the inclusion of the "Trick or Treat" trailer is any indication, maybe we can cross our fingers and hope for an episode devoted to the greatest rock and roll horror film ever 🤘 As someone who grew up in the 80s clipping newspaper ads for movies, I loved hearing that I wasn't the only one who did that. Another mark of greatness for this show.
Thanks for watching Matt! We hope that the spirit of Sammi Curr will make an appearance on "Metal and Monsters" in the near future!
And don't forget to send us some "Fang Mail" to the Metal and Monsters P.O. Box!
Why is Annihilator hardly mentioned on UA-cam.
Greatest metal band ever imo!
Great bit on Super 7. I'm afraid to start collecting them. I won't be able to stop.
When is the next episode???? I've waited too long and need more!
I'll have to say, Matt Montgomery is the perfect host for this whole thing, he really means the things he says and you feel that excitement watching this.
These two are the very essence of what you wanted to do with this show! I hope to see more in the future.
Great show! Awesome to see Carcass featured in this
One of our favorites!!
CARCASS and Robert England. Great video.
Wow...this is just simply badass. Dokken & Freddy himself . Metal & Horror always go hand to hand

Such a fire series, love for action figs, carcass, and hosts fav band is megadeth, ya I’m in
This is absolutely amazing just wow ! Perfect! Can't wait to watch the next one !
I watched the new episode with Kirk and came back to watch this one (don’t know how I missed this show). I loved the Trick or Treat promo. It was one of my favorite movies back in the day, and was filmed about an hour south of me in Wilmington, NC. It would be great to grab Ozzy and Gene (or even Skippy aka Ragman himself), to sit down and talk about this killer classic movie!! I am totally digging the series and look forward to seeing more in the future!!
Ps Glen Danzig would be awesome on here as a guest too( and he is a super cool guy as well)!! 🤘🤘🦇🎃🤘🤘
We'll be featuring "Trick or Treat" on the show in the New Year! Stay tuned!
Really cool show, guys! Dig the format of breaking up the episode into related segments while using the central interview as a through line - works really well and keeps it engaging. Great production values and neat little retro-inspired touches as well. Can't wait for the next instalment!
I'm as metal as the next guy but to be honest I got a lot more trim when I had Sade on the turntable than Megadeth... Thank you for the great episode!!! This is some great content.
