bless ken owen, such a shame what happened to him. glad he seems in high spirits
Yes! He’s such a good soul. I really wish the best for him.
Amen
I think I shed a single man-tear when I saw Ken take to the drum stool at Wacken, it was a great gesture and a welcome surprise after seeing Gossow on stage lol
Such an amazing drummer, as a drummer he defiantly influenced me
Nice to see that Ken never got shut out,
very cool of Jeff and Bill to keep him in the fold so to speak, and they cut him in
an equal share of any money that Carcass makes...How cool is that??
It’s awesome. It really, really cool how they still try to “keep him in the band” despite his disability, and how well they treat him. Most people wouldn’t think because of the music, but Carcass are really nice guys.
It goes to show you that they are good guys. I think other men in a similar situation would have forgotten about him.
I met Ken when they did their first US reunion tour , when the band came out after the show, Jeff and Bill made it a point that the fans also talk to Ken and asked him for his autograph. But the big thing is these guys are actually friends not just a bunch of dudes playing in a band together
There may be a legal element to that because Ken's name is on the credits of the work they did but far more than that it's because Ken is important to Bill & Jeff not just as a founding member of the band but also because they're close friends. Good chaps!
That´s what humans call CARACTER
Ken Owen is a fantastic musician.
These guys never sold out. They're just here for the music. Absolutely love them. LOVE CARCASS
Bill appears such a genuinely nice and friendly chap, comes across well mannered and softly spoken in every interview.
I LOVE how they treat their friend and former drummer, Ken.
Ken was the reason I became a drummer so thank you carcass and ken for everything god bless
It Made me Cry that they still have him in the Band. Its a Shame that those things anytimes happen to Good People.
Necroticism had such a amazing guitar. My favorite guitar tone in heavy metal period along with Heartwork. So heavy warm and cold sounding at the same time.
Absolutely! The tone and mix itself is so great!
Loved that final bit with Ken reading some of the lyrics out loud ❤
I've watched this a few times, ken grew up round the corner from me
How is he now is he ok?
I’m listening to every Carcass album I’m order . This album is so brutal and sonically insane .
Only been a fan of Carcass for about a year. But they're my joint favourite band now. Happy days! They seem really cool and Ken is awesome.
First two albums are the best, but I also really love necroticism, and Surgical Steel. Really wish they did a ‘back to form’ and wrote and released another goregrind album
I’ve never understood the absolute refusal of other Carcass fans to the band’s progression. Jesus Fuck thank God one of the bands I love progresses. That’s what you want from a band unless you are five. Ugh ugh ugh. Loving Arteries.
LOST MEDIA ALERT: An cassette tape audio-rip of Bill Steer playing guitar in his bedroom, semi-rehearsal style. Might also have included bass.Maybe from '87? It was prior to the release of "Symphonies..", as he jams some early versions of those songs.
It could be lost to the ages, but I recall seeing it on the LOCKJAW blogspot, and a higher quality one on Thrashmageddon forums.
figured I'd leave a note here and rely on the future.
🙀💣
Amazing band! Saw them live some years ago and they totally crushed. Plus I got to meet Bill and Jeff, really cool guys! No wonder they rule!
Unnecessary point to make but I always thought Carcass should have been as big if not bigger than Cannibal Corpse as they have a lot more substance musically. If it was Carcass in that Ace Ventura movie instead of Cannibal... who knows might have been the case
Symphonies is still THE one for me...so there you go 🖖❤🎸👊🤙
Great guys, spoke them, see them, en luve Ken!! This band is underated, these folks are tallented and very nice lads!!!
love the fact ken wears a caracassonne tshirt
so sorry for what he went through
Man...good to see KEN included in this documentary. Awesome.
such an incredible band
respect for this thing that You are still beside poor Ken, nice of You
Strange (but cool) that the live footage at the 10:38 mark shows the classic 4-piece lineup.
Caught them in Dallas, Tx area in the ‘90’s and so glad I did! Some of the beet years in music.
10 years since new stuff? Shocking!
No. We had Torn Arteries on 2021.
Bill steer is the ultimate metal guitarist
Fuck yes this is available now \m/
Ken Owen influencia directa musical un gran Baterista quien creativamente combina los mejores ritmos del metal
Heart work.change the whole genre and death human helped
Alguien que lo traduzca al español!!
Best band in the world!!
Ach die situ von der S.Weidner : na glückwunsch

Mike amot from carnage Sweden metal
Ken Owen drumer oof grind crusher tour 1989
JOHN ZORN
I cannot understand anything they are saying and the fact that the entire thing is shot in pubs where all of their words echo.
Is it me or does Ken sound a lot like Ozzy, I'm not saying that disrespectfully, it's all the opposite!
ugh this is HEAVILY edited, mandatory thumbs DOWN.
Best Death/Grindcore band in history of the genre! I was devastated at the news of Ken Owen, who was in still is, imho the best grind/death drummer ever! Nobody played like this chap!
Ken Owen rules. One of the greats, no matter what the genre
The pioneers and founders of Melodic Death Metal. This was my favorite Death Metal Band growing up.
p. s. They are vegetarians, and two members are vegans. Ironic the name Carcass. I always loved Heartwork, great album, these guys were doing Melodic Death before Gothenburg even had a sound.
The filmmakers don't know how to handle Ken's difficulty talking and consistently get artful with their angles, and cutting cropping to edit out some of the awkwardness. The extent to which they do it is disrespectful. Watch how the camera is comfortable sitting on Jeff or Bill for long takes but they do not do so with Ken. As time goes on it becomes clear that not only is Ken still pretty sharp, he doesn't have the prickliness of Jeff or the aloof and distant quality of Bill but is seemingly without agenda, fortunately he gets to speak a bit more in the later episodes. For those who don't know the story of what happened, it was a stroke, and Ken tells the story at the end of episode 5 (about 21 minutes in).
Totally agreed with you! At the beginning I thought "yeah they have included Ken, that's pretty nice", but then it's like he was there but don't participated at all. The good thing is that Jeff and Bill didn't forget him, I think this documentary is from 2007 and it's good to see Ken's appearance in "Unfit for Human Consumption" video in 2013. On the long road, it seems that the part when Bill said that he wanted to play in a band with his best friends is true.
Honestly even though Reek sounded like a bag of socks being thrown into a jet engine, it's probably my second favorite Carcass record after Symphonies
Also Ken fucking rules and I really hope he's doing okay
+Greg Jeckel I really want to try that now
got me socks.. off to the airport
best analogy i've heard is "like a backed-up toilet describing an autopsy"
i think bill steer does not age.
Agree
He's got a portrait of himself in the loft.
Jeff looks great for his age too... Vegetarian diet does wonders

@@Osiris_C 2022& he still looks like an angel things me,lady 56yo 😻
Carcass is a big metal family. Love these guys.
Poor Ken, i really miss him on the new album :(
Try surviving a brain hemorrhage that leaves you for almost a year in bed and you have to basically learn to do everything from zero again (talking, walking, etc) Most people don't survive that but he managed to. His motor skills got damaged that's the main reason he's not behind the drum kit. He can still play but not like he used to.
Awesome. Great documentary so far. Can't wait for Part 2. Hail Carcass.
Awesome videos, great news about the new album. Can't wait.
I love this so much! One of my two favorite bands ever!
I´ll be watching them in April...Can´t wait. Cheers from Santiago,Chile.
Carcass are one of my favorite groups! Cheers from Spain!
Man, I'm so glad Ken is still such a huge part of the band. Those are true friends who stick with you and stay by no matter what. It's Ken's personality that really keeps it all together. So pumped for this new album. I had every Carcass CD on rotation back in the 90's for a solid 8 years. You got in my truck and you heard Carcass.. Too bad you're listening to Carcass. I have some old photo's I took during the Heartwork tour in Berkley, Ca circa 1995-1996 I should scan and post sometime.
Great footage, so hilarious stuff going on, rock on Carcass in 2014 !! See you at Graspop !!
I think the fact that Ken looks like some accountant or something makes what he did and who he is cooler, like if you had never heard of Carcass you'd just think he was some guy that had the average job lol
Ken Owen was the first "short haired token member" in a grind/dm band lol...
Kinda shames me to say it that I only found these guys around 2008-9 and I genuinely thought Ken was their model or something that posed with a needle for PR or something.
Was so cool to later learn their story and see the guy pop a drum solo again at Bloodstock
luke mccann don't feel too bad, I had heard of them for years but never really listened to them, then one day I just started going through their catalog and realized they were a lot better than I gave them credit for...most of what I've been listening to recently is the earlier stuff, even the demo they did for RoP with Sanjiv
he's the main one in the beginning who came up with the sick demented lyrics!
defo looks like a surgeon or a university autopsy professor
i am so glad to enjoy soon their new album
What is funny is that I did a Carcass gig flyer when they first formed ( I at the time used to tape-trade with Bill), and i did their original logo but with the letter "A" done Anarchy style - Bill was like cool logo but the anarchy logo don"t fit with what the band is about.... and now i see this?? LOL
Ask Bill hahaha
Any other cool stories?
I really love both.
That look on their faces when the interviewer mentions Sanjiv is just priceless! Love Carcass, can't wait to snag the new album when it comes out!
This men are Legend ... respect
I heard they are releasing a new album. Can't wait to grab it!
Jeff Walker's hilarious!
I never really got into their sound but I am grateful to them for what they did for extreme music. In my opinion this was the British invasion that mattered. Thanks to them there is Exhumed and plenty of other bands.
I fucking love Carcass
Used to see Carcass at the memo club in Wrexham, every time they played... fkn chaos !!!!!
I love seeing these guys. The last time I saw Carcass was in the 90's at a club calle Washington Square. The line-up was: Napalm Death, Cathedral, Brutal Truth, and Carcass (can't beat a line-up that has old and new Napalm/Carcass members at the same venue)!!!
They're friends, and I've seen them live together. Both great in their own respects
they where only it for the music and fun honest and genuine all the way
Haha, Ken Owen reciting the lyrics at the end was great.
I want that "I REEK OF PUTREFACTION" on a shirt!
I remember the first time I heard a carcass album. I was a kid and there was no internet. I would go into tower records and buy random tapes that I thought I would think might be cool. I bought the cassette for heartwork. Put it into my player and I was like omg what the fuck is this!? I couldn't put my finger on it but it was the b tuning with the high eq. One of the best albums i have ever heard to date.
That's not even open for discussion :) Saw them on Saturday in Leeds and they blew everyone away. Ken Owen came on at the end with a drum solo, everyone loved it, absolute legends.
and happy drummer survived cancer !!!!! peace brothers
I can't listen to this, just listen to the way Ken Owen is talking, I feel really sorry for him. The Hemorrhage must have caused that. :(
Vinny V stop feeling sorry for him. he’s a proper geezer. he’s alive and well and happy.
He's doing a lot better than a lot of people who survive brain hemorrhage. It's a pretty extreme thing to survive through. Most people just die. He's still the same person, his ability to move his body was just affected and it slows his communication down.
Jeff Walker keeps scratching his head alot..., I like that they denounce that fact that they are "grindcore"!..." My core, your core, this core, that core, what core? I can't take it anymore!"... just be unusual!... Mark Atkins
They haven’t been grind since their first record so I don’t see why they wouldn’t distance themselves from that label anyway.
Jeff and Bill had recorded the album with Daniel Wilder on drums and Ken Owen on some of the Vocals!
Someone finally gave Jeff some chewing gum!
Please add subs to this, I can get almost everything despite the somewhat thick brit accents but sometimes its hard to understand what someone's saying!
Imagine the hard that is to undestand this as a non native english speaker
Hahaha it’s pretty funny to read comments of people from the US talking about how hard it's to understand these guys accent! Imagine how harder is for a person whose first language is not English... :(
I am from Chile and 'no entiendo ni una wea'
True, I can understand what Bill said but Jeff's and Ken's are too difficult
i can understand cannibal corpse i can understand funny british man
Carcass is a brilhant band.
oh.... Vocals !!! and when the new album release? we are waiting!!!
CARCASSONNE Ken shirt. Priceless.
only in it for the fun and music
It's not a problem to love them both. Carcass is just getting better and better - Napalm Death is still the same (but stil awesome)..
I wonder if Earache are releasing the new Carcass album. Bring on the Carcass UK Tour 2013
Carcass the best old death metal band
Is this on DVD by chance?
lol Was this interview done in the Swan pub upstairs?
Let's face it: Carcass is better than Napalm Death.
Jeff´s the talker ....and Kenn´s the ROCKER
New mixer is the guy who did Arch enemy's Mix. Who knows... Correct me if I am wrong.
I forgot that Ken had a haemorrhage :(
Bollocks to hemorrhages!
the best Death Metal band ever right after Death, in my opinion.
