I wasn't expecting the Benesse thing and i laughed really loudly and now my dog thinks Im insane. I'm okay with this. Love the video, your scavenger hunt ones are some of my favorites. I know this isn't quite the same, but the vibe is similar and I love it.
The kanji for umbrella is really nice! :D I think the small signs under the umbrella look like the kanji for "Person"(Hito) it would make sense, too!

I was absolutely obsessed with Super Mario Bros. All the characters in that one (even the squid, which I dreaded). And all the physical elements of that universe (even the firesticks, which I dreaded). I haven't played any other Mario. Never had anything but an NES. I'm so old. The Nintendo online store seems not to sell any merch from that era.

Just a tip from a photographer, I don't really do videos, but on the videos where you need to see the background clearly while hand holding or the subject either of you alone is discussing is a little out of focus raising the aperture makes the whole scene in focus. I've taken closeups of flowers at a low aperture 1.8 to 2.8 to get a closeup of a subject and completely blur out the background. That effect becomes less as you back off, but there is still some background blur. A higher aperture may fix background blur, even if what Kyde is talking about is just a few feet away from her like the umbrella rental machine. I'll take my dslr out tomorrow to test this myself to see how this works out. I just finished it and you address the background at the end.
Yea, we realize what we need to do to clear up the background, I just had not realized just *how* much bokeh it was putting until I got into the editing phase. Gotta adjust to our new gear! Haha. Thanks, by the way. -E
@@kydeanderic I re thought about the whole new video and the background. I can honestly say I definitely saw improvement as the video played out.
As a fellow glasses wearer I know how grim glasses fogging is...my anxiety goes through the roof as I'm very shortsighted. I've found tying the straps tighter and putting some microporous tape (medical paper tape) along the top edge works perfectly. Put the tape on your mask first then smooth it onto your face. Try to avoid putting the tape too close to your undereye area though as it'll hurt to pull the tape off after (you could soak it if desperate). Once removed it won't stick well enough again so choose when to remove it carefully or bring a spare roll of tape 😅
Yea, luckily my eyes aren't too bad so I can just take my glasses off if it becomes important to see. -E

Loved the Mario search. Fun idea to promote JR and get people riding the train, exploring new areas. If I was in Tokyo and could read Japanese, I would totally do it. Although the "great gift" at the end was a little gimmicky - a contest?!? I wanted an instant prize! The hoops and complicated bureaucracy is so Japanese, though. lol
Stick with 1080p I think. Smaller file sizes, faster rendering, etc. Unless you have a computer rig that can handle 4K easily. Or you could record in 4K and downsample to 1080p so that past footage works well.
To be honest you could have done most of the stamp rally without being able to read japanese, but it did help a bit of course. I agree about the "prize" at the end, seemed a little anti-climatic.
I will eventually more to 4k, but I'm not in a major rush to do it. Not too worried about my computer being able to handle it, I can edit with "proxies" which will make it workable pretty easily. Still need to work out some of the workflow, however. -E

Sorry, I prefer the old camera - this one made me feel dizzy and the focus didn’t respond well. I loved the video, though. Our kids are the Mario experts but we watched many, many hours of it! LOL
In the future things will be less blurry with the backgrounds, this was essentially user error / getting used to new gear. -E

Eric, when I saw that this vid clocked in at over an hour, for Mario about whom I am only marginally aware (I'm way older than you), I thought "how could this be interesting?" Well, you two found a way and I am glad I watched. Very nice that JR East, Nintendo, and New Days teamed up for something fun and distracting--although I don't really get how travel during the time of Covid is such a good thing. Very nice images--big improvement! Looking forward to the Sado Island. Is the port in Masochist Bay?

I think the quality of the camera is not that important. The quality of the content is far more important and this week's video was fun. Btw I like Daisy.
Oh, I certainly agree, but the better camera really helps me make the scene look correct and helps out a lot on the backend of the production. As we get better with the gear it will help us deliver a better product, but of course the most important bit is to make interesting content, you can't add a nice camera to bad content and have a good video. -E
The character Kyde described as niku is read as "ren" in Mandarin, which means human. Makes the kasa kranji character even cooler! 😊

It does look very European, the facade at least. Apparently your guys bombed the roof in the 40s so they had to rebuild that and the top floor so that's why they look more modern.
