    The list of “coincidences” that happened near Epstein’s cell (including but not limited to all the cameras going black, and the guards who were specifically meant to guard him, just happening to go on break right as the cameras went black, and public bank records showing that they both had a massive amount of money enter their accounts the next day), that allowed Epstein to be “alone” during the time of his death, combined with the fact that every nearby inmate swears up and down that Epstein was crying for help, all of this should let you know that our world is run by pdf-files.

    • @adlernelson285

      I think it's a mistake to immediately jump to the conclusion that the prison guards were acting under orders from some billionaire elites. The only thing I found regarding their bank accounts was that records were obtained by prosecution, but the specifics weren't disclosed. As for the cameras, they had been malfunctioning for months before Epstein was arrested. As someone who works for the state government, this was a federal prison but from what I've heard they face a lot of the same problems, I can attest that government funding isn't always being put towards the right things. For instance, there is a school here where they have no problem giving the athletics department money for more weight machines, but we've needed to completely replace the fire alarm system for at least a decade.
      Now, does that mean that I think Epstein killed himself? I mean, it's possible. It's even possible that he cried out for help once he realized he'd rather live. I don't think so, though; I think it's far more likely that the guards saw a pdf-file who had gotten off easy one time already and decided to take the law into their own hands. It should be the first thing you jump to, rather than a conspiracy from the outside. Prisons are known to be full of abuse from the guards to the prisoners.

    Lolita, (with the words divergent origins from a book about a predator using "lolita" as a nickname for their step-child) became popular in japan during the same post-war "cuteness" rebellion that spawned Hello kitty, Astro boy, and other cute icons.
    It was a counter-culture to the rigid, hyper-defined roles of japans older generation, Similar to punk, hippy, goth, emo, etc.

      Here's an interesting tidbit:
      While the book Lolita by Nabokov did make Japan aware of the word, what actually spread that word across the country was the clothing or rather fashion style, especially the signature frilly look on those foreign dolls popular back in the day there. The term "Furi-Furi" (フリフリ) was coined for the abundance of frills normally seen on the gothic lolita or plain lolita dresses that foreign dolls wore. In fact, Furi-Furi even became the title of the first single of one of the old "electric bands" (bands that first used the electric guitar in Japan), The Spiders, back in the mid-1960's. This fashion trend which became the icon image for lolita fashion was what gave birth to manga and anime characters that wore frills in their costume motifs. It was also slowly incorporated into other popular fashion trends for fictional characters at the time, like being combined with the iconic Sailor Uniform worn by characters like Sailor Moon.
      It's actually quite interesting as a topic because you can see how Japanese fashion trends affected fictional characters across the generations, a good example being the progression from:
      -> kimono-style clothing
      -> kimono with western shirts and coats as well as leather shoes (lolita fashion also from western dresses)
      -> kimono-western mixed with frills and lace
      -> move onto mostly western clothing and the sailor uniform
      -> return/addition of older "unique" features like frills onto the current westernized clothing, the slow "formalization" of kimono use
      -> so on until the present. (at this point kimono are now just occasionally used unless within traditional settings, lolita has completely become a fashion subculture just like "French maid uniforms" have).

      @@kamikaze00007 That's true-ish, but only half the truth at best. "Lolita complexes" or Roricon (just an older romanization of the same kanji, not a racial thing) or lolicon has been a Japanese euphemism for p*dos and people with p*do tendencies for as long as Lolita fashion has been a thing. It's been somewhat tolerated in Japan since the 60s, under the justification that every lolicon who spends 20 hours a week watching h*nta* is one more that doesn't have time to build an international human trafficking ring.
      The first Japanese lolita anime character was Uran/Astro Girl, whose design was based largely on the animators' previous experience drawing Minnie Mouse for the Walt Disney Studio, but with notably *less* frilly skirts and bloomers than her American counterpart. They aged her up from 6 to 7 when adapting the manga to the anime, to mollify network censors who might have been concerned over the numerous upskirt shots.
      They aged her up from six.
      To **SEVEN**.
      because that's better? Somehow?
      TL;DR: Don't even tell me lolicons were around in the 1960s.

    • @kamikaze00007
      @kamikaze00007 8 місяців тому +8

      @@FelbloodStreaming about that lolicon terminology. According to my Japanese language professor (an actual Japanese man and linguistic expert of more than 10 years according to his creds, who goes to our country just to teach the language from some exchange program our college had), lolicon isn't actually used by normal people when talking about ped*s as we know them, in a serious context. He said it was more a pop-culture term that got popularized in a comedic context from media.
      Apparently, the actual "normie" term people use for peds in Japan is a person with "Youjo-shumi" 幼女趣味の人 (lit. Youjo-shumi no Hito). Prof says that if somebody were to call you a lolicon in public, there was a chance that it would simply get taken as a joke by folks there and the most you'd get was "the glance". However, he said that if you were to get called a person with Youjo-shumi in public, say goodbye to your reputation. I can't confirm how true this is though since he just explained this during our open-Q&A class segment. Since my knowledge on the topic is limited I can't really give more in-depth info other than that.

    If you have a few extra languages in your back pocket you can take the same concept used by "Ground News" to see how things in international news are framed or covered differently around the world. It can be instructive to see what stories get more or less coverage depending on the state. Often for innocent reasons like they have more important issues to their part of the world, but also when they have stakes in events and are leaning heavily on self-interested bias. Basically you let states narc on each other in order to spot and account for their biases.

    The right vs left often focus around negative rights for property ownership vs positive rights for people. I think most healthy societies are where a good balance between these forces are struck. The US, UK, and Canada have all adopted policies that favor property ownership rights; mostly at the behest of people with wealth in order to gain more. For the last half century laws and regulations meant to provide economic stability have been scrapped in favor of those that help concentrate wealth and short term gains. If you extrapolate the voting records and proposals made by governments in all three the outlook is... concerning. Like cyberpunk Oliver Twist concerning.

Corruption spreads like a rot, and you have to cleanse away the smallest speck or it'll just come back.

I would also like to let you know that I was reading the rules to find where I messed up upon being booted from the server. @~18:00 To be fair, everything is politics, including the particular interpersonal relationships of the ruling class.

    • @Flamewarden_Honoushugoshin
      @Flamewarden_Honoushugoshin 8 місяців тому

      I think a lot of people in the "west" have this weird aversion to the term because of how clownshow-y the media and culture around it is. There's nothing wrong with recognizing and advancing your class interests as a worker. For many though it's hard to consider politics from such a materialist perspective because their representation is so tied up in class interests that are at best tangentially related to their own. Tax cuts sound good (everyone hates having less income!), except the fine print says they are disproportionately going to hedge-funds and executives that make their money by advising that workers (hey that's you!) be laid off to raise profit margins a few percent (so much for "creating jobs", eh?). Funding for homelessness solutions sounds good, until the fine print shows that "solution" is militarizing and hiring more cops to just "sweep the streets" or to build spiked walkways or benches outside private businesses that donated large sums to political campaigns. There's nothing wrong with being politically active, the issue is how that narrative is controlled and directed, deliberately or not, by institutions of capital (money invested in making more money).

    • @Flamewarden_Honoushugoshin
      @Flamewarden_Honoushugoshin 8 місяців тому

      I don't really blame people for taking that stance either, their material conditions make it pretty hard to be politically literate, and pretty much the entire industry of the superstructure (news, advertisement, media, education, etc.) has real material interest to promote the perspective of capital and diminish that of labor, consciously or not.
