Former McDonald’s manager here. My favorite McDonald’s advertising moment is when they legit had an online banner add of a dude giving a burger the fuck eyes with the tagline “I’d hit it.” Apparently the suits did not know what it meant but saw the youth using it. It only lasted a day.
Several people in the advertising team 100% knew and just let it happen because they were secretly agents of chaos.
We now know what's in the McDonald's mayo.

I love how literally all of these instances were entirely self-inflicted. These companies each presented an open wound and the internet took the opportunity to squeeze lemons into them.

What are you talking about? All of these stories are describing an outside group taking action on the online portals provided by the companies. That is pretty much the opposite of self inflicted. All of it is inflicted by others.

That's what we in business call a failure of the hiring team. If there are people out there that can make accurate predictions that will prevent your business from hurting itself in confusion and _none_ of them work for you, that's on you.

Actually, it wasn't long ago where Twitter didn't give you descriptions of hashtags, so you could only figure out what the deal was by going in and reading posts.
The "I can't do this anymore" tweet always read more like the social media person having a crisis about running the Twitter. But that's just me.

This is why I consider it a blessing and a curse that the marketing staff in this era are more internet-savvy than it was before.
I was so offended, I got out of bed to watch this on my 2nd monitor.
The only reason "virgin" is seen as an insult is because a lot of men (and women in some cases) have been ready and wanting for sex for years and haven't had any luck, and they don't like to be reminded of it.
To be fair, it isn't that hard to have sex. If that is all you care about, I mean. Getting a good relationship is hard, but just having sex isn't. So, if being just being a virgin is what is bothering you, it's really your own fault at that point. I had sex and a few relationships between the ages of 17 to 20, but I haven't been looking for a relationship for the past 8 years. So I haven't had sex in that time. And I'm fine with that. And I'm confident I could go out and have casual sex if I tried, but I don't want to. I guess I just don't have any sympathy for people who complain about being a virgin while also having high standards. Nothing wrong with having high standards, and also nothing wrong with being a virgin. But complaining about it makes them feel entitled.

It was called the Gaylord Ops because the conference was at the Gaylord Opryland, a huge hotel in Nashville that's connected to the Grand Old Opry theater. My family attended a couple religious conferences there when I was a teenager...
The conference on the first part of the video was for Agile, a methodology that was designed for Software development. It is in other projects these days but was pretty heavily an IT project methodology. You would expect the people hosting the Agile Conference would have had one competent Computer person who would have realized it was a bad idea to put random tweets on a big display.
And even if they still do it, at least have a big red button to stop it immediately.
In the truest tradition of agile methodology, sane technical expertise was overruled by over-excited management.
But it's not something developers use. It's something for middle management to make them feel like they have a purpose. Middle managers don't know shit about fuck, including the Internet-they don't have the work skills to do actual jobs and they don't have the marketing skills or connections to get into upper management.
It is an unspoken rule (although sometimes people have to still spell it out regardless) that you *never* attempt to wage war on 4Chan. Especially if you have limited knowledge of the internet culture.
I love how you could see what was going to go wrong with every situation. Yet none of these so-called serious business people could see it coming.

What always gets me about the first one is that Agile is about Software Dev. Sure, it's on the more srs business side of tech but they really should've know better.
It really goes to show that ultra-ardent cultists of Agile and Scrum have always been people who aren't actually developers.
I've seen a ton of reactions to this video. EVERY SINGLE TIME IH says "interactive displays" there's an immediate response of "oh no" or "oh boy!"
The Sonic Highschool one may be too cringe for my liking, but there is a lot of good stuff on the second channel. The Sundance Reject ones (Swedish Job and Gentleman Pirate) are on par with main channel videos, and the one word title ones (aka In The Field) are about him and one of his friends looking at random stuff on the internet and making fun edits around it that are also really fun to watch.
The "In the Field" series on his second channel is great. Just him talking to his buds about whatever with silly animations.
Every Story that begins with "And then 4Chan got involved" is amazing. Not always wholesome, but amazing.

On the futility of autobanning soft insults. Gaylord is a name, derived from the french name Gaillard meaning strong of dashing. From dashing gay shifts over time to mean joyful or happy.
As for virgin, i've not seen many italians who dont insist on the use of extra virgin olive oil in cookery, autobanning the word is going ignite some far stronger language from them for not allowing them to advise higher quality ingredients in their food.

From Internet Historian's other channel Incognito Mode, I'd recommend "hobbies.". The half hour videos are generally him talking with a guest about a topic (still animated in his usual manner), often to a hilarious extent. I haven't seen all of that content, so I have no idea what to expect with that Sonic fanfic. Another one I'd recommend from Incognito Mode is "The Gentleman Pirate". It's a bit long, but honestly good, and not enough people react to it.
Found your channel a few months ago, and your videos occasionally help pass the time at work. I definitely enjoy how you're often aware of what's gonna happen before it's even said.

Gaylord was/is the name of a family of hotel owners. The Opryland hotel is in Nashville, near where the opryland theme park used to be.

Internet historian did have a few videos he uploaded but got taken down for one reason or another. Another youtuber had reuploaded them and the channel is called internet historian deleted content archive.
You should totally check out some of his dramatic fanfic readings. My Immortal is a classic, but super long so it's up to you really.
