Remember Raiden wasn't really popular back then - in fact fans damn near hated him when they found out he was the main character in MGS2. It was smarter to put the more beloved Solid Snake in instead.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale got Raiden, Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS got Cloud Strife. ever thought of that, Sony?!
Fun Fact: Sony tried to put Cloud in the game, but way before Cloud was in Smash, SquareEnix refused and if they wanted they're Final Fantasy character to be in the game, they could use a female character, Lightning to promote their new Final Fantasy game, but for some unknown reason, she wasn't in the game at all.

Raiden is essentially the god of Metal Gear. He can destroy pretty much anything.
I played with him at Pax. He was such a boss. Dat breakdance. And his Level 3 made me smile. :D

Hunter the Hunter the main reason why they didn't get snake is because konami gave them raiden for publisity, i don't think that snake being in smash has anything to do in it.

And that's what i'm going to love about this game!
The devs have a system where in every online match there would be statistics of each character sent to them. They use that information to help balance out the characters, and I'm pretty sure they have a forums where players can post suggestions and whatnot.

The only character I could actually manage to enjoy in this game
I know you can cut with the right analog stick during raidens level 2 and 3 but how do you do it like in the video like at 0:58 im not sure how to do the precise cuts that instantly kill i can only get like 2 and then they fall out of the stun state.
Is a real shame that this will be the closest thing we will get to a Raiden in Smash.

I love that his level 3 finisher is cutting people up in cardboard boxes makes me think of MGS2 when Raiden called Snake a psycho for moving around in a cardboard box.

during his lvl 2 you can cut your opponents using the right analog stick also you can freeze them by pressing the circle button while you chase them

In the beginning of MG Rising, he looks like that, before getting his enhancements. That look is also based on the MGS4 Raiden.
