>let's uninstall crapware
>attempts to uninstall Epic games launcher
You sir have my respect
it has cool free games but i agree
@@zanasltu4458 cool free games? The only decent game they've given out for free was gta, and that was last year. This year's free games have been awful
@@glizzy6939 that's subjective..
@@dibel3669 Yes, but I wouldn't call their free games good as most of them are indie games that no one has heard of. These games probably don't get allot of sales so then they make it free to seem like they're worth our time
@@glizzy6939 There are a ton of free indie games that ARE worth your time though. While I can't speak for EPIC, your wording just seems a little bashy on the indie genre. If ya want good indie recommendations I gotchu.
thx for making this, we need more recent vids like this.
This man called bloatware= *crapware*
Respect
Still has Steam installed tho, lmao...
@@TheBypasser what's wrong with steam?
@@dibel3669 Love it, hate it - but it is the bloatware ;) Insane sizes? Check. Pointless service installations? Check. Messed-up directory structure? Check. Funny enough, even EGS with it's logon nonsense is still more slim (glad to not play much, so can just stick to no-DRM - or rarely use EGS or Steam with a killed service - want to make a placeholder later for it to quit spamming the reinstall request - and -no-browser, apparently...
and then proceeded to uninstall the Epic Games launcher
Good one there is a fine line walked on this video between expertise and ridiculous levels of nerdiness and also simplicity for the common user. This is very well put together and I appreciate you posting this. I am talking to my wife and best friend in life trying to help her through some irritating Windows issues and this is a great breakdown. I just wanted to comment and like the video to boost up your channel for the way that this has been stated and simplified. I love your comment about do not want to be treated like a three year old you had me laughing there.
This video includes a nice jab at the Epic Games Launcher. "This would also be a good time to remove any programs you've installed that you no longer use or trust."
Loved this video. Very easy to follow with excellent narration. Thanks for posting. Subscribed in a hear beat.
Fun fact: windows no longer has a bug testing department, they crowd source system configs and bugs by using telemetry. If you disable it, it's less data for them to figure out what's wrong and issue updates to fix or patch bugs and security holes.
It's a very scummy way of justifying their spyware, which is also used to issue targeted ads, but unfortunately , you kind of need diagnostic data enabled for them to help you any more
For shortcuts just rightclick on the program in the Taskbar while the program is running and secire it to the taskbar. Now you can open it up by pressing the Windows key and the corresponding number. If the program is number 2 on the taskbar press Windows+2 and the program will open 😁
Thats actually useful, thx for the tip
Bruh
I dont really see the point of memorizing shortcut keys for programs when you can just pin the programs you use the most to the task bar
About the whole quicker shutdown thing..
These setting may work fine on one system and not on another it sometimes it depends on other factors like network connections.
Just saying, shutting down faster may cause you to loose data stored in cache and not yet written to disk due to other factors. Eg: shutting down while platforms like steam are auto syncing on slow networks, or saving stuff to external or NAS or cloud services.
If you have Hdd's and they are for just storage or games don't forget to DEFRAG them with a good piece of software, but I always find windows built in defrag to be lacking.
SSD's and nvme's etc are super fast for boot drives vs Hdd. eg: 4 to 60 seconds vs 1 to 6 minutes on hdd. (after bios boot ,not counting bios boot, which will depend on pc). Over time and by the nature of how they store and delete data this will/may (over time) give you a false view of the stored data taken up by the files on the drive. So remember to
TRIM the ssd's. (right click the drive/properties/tools/optimize), same as defrag for hdd's but only takes about 4 sec.
Also don't rely on windows to Trim SSD's. Never got this to work on several pc's even when set to daily.

“Coming up next on TechGumbo!” That’s such an earworm!
I had the string keys in the pro version and didn't need any of them. Just had to modify the values. Thanks.

You're a good instructor. The setting I want to change is the size my video player in UA-cam plays at. When playing a video there's 2" inch of black screen on the top and bottom of the Television. I want the whole screen filled with video and no black.
You're amazing, I really love your videos. You helped me a lot.
Great info and helpful tips cheers mate
Great walkthough
Thanks for sharing :-9
Thanks. This is a great help👍
Very awesome video. one feature is missing in option is missing in Movies&TV feature that play video where you lift. I'll be glad if you did a video about it. thanks for all videos.
Very useful, thank you
100% helpful.. Thanks.
Thank you for your sage instruction.
Wonderful to hear the honest truth about them "respecting your privacy".
Tq.!
very nice, thank you!
Is there any way to make File Manager always ALWAYS "view details"? It keeps switching back to some other icon view. I've changed to options to Apply to Folders but it never stays that way.
Disabling the annoying Windows Update & Windows Update Medic in your services.msc is HIGHLY recommended. One can always turn it on & apply manually as needed. Also turning things off in the Task Manager/Startup tab is quite useful. ;-)
Great video, very useful.
How about adding/removing actions in the context menu
At this time, in the list of browsers there's Edge, and there's everything else below it.
Wish that Tech Gumbo would make a Q&A video, I would love that.
Thank you!
Hi! I hope you can help me. I've been trying to video myself and share my screen on Canva and keep getting this message: "Check your screen share setting. Your screen share settings don't allow us to share your screen. Please check you've allowed your browser to record your screen." Does this mean I show do something with Windows 10 or with Google Chrome? I am totally perplexed and have spent several hours trying to figure it out, but nothing works. Thank you so much! I appreciate your time...and your great videos!
Hi nice ! I have a question the left up icon ( Ome drive , Web browsing ,... how can show uo ?
Thanks alot dear teacher it was very helpfull wish you goodluck
will the 'Speedup shutdown ' settings affect the background windows update progress?
Great Video. Can I do faster startup?
Man you rock. Thank you Sir
What is the microphone you use?
THANKS!
Thank you! I just got a Razer Tomahawk Gaming Desktop and most of these settings helped me alot. Some I didn't use by choice but the ones I did use was a HUGE improvement on my PC. Thank you!!!!!
This is wonderful.
Thanks a lot
How do I find the wallpapers from the preview? They look fantastic!
0:01 - Hi TG! 👋
12:27 - 1028th thumbs up from me! 👍 Cheers!
In file explorer where one will find music, pictures, downloads folders etc, my 'Video' folder has disappeared!? I have to use the search function to access it. Any idea how to get the video folder back into file explorer?
thank you so much that is good for slow people like me!!
What if you don't have the Personalization section in the registry?
create a new key called Personalization if it doesn't already exist.
what video editor did you use
What a powervideo, respect!
how do u get that account name/info above the settings of windows
when looking to stop using login details i followed your tutorial but i dont have the personalisations tab to make the changes. Any suggesdtions as hate to have to login.
I don't have the Personalization Folder in the Registry Editor 😥 What do I do?
Create one
I prefer EDGE right now rather than CHROME eating RAM.
Edge is chromium based so its basically the same memory hog
#AD
True chrome is pretty shit
Do you offer a basic video/or course for using office 365?
Fantastic video
which is better to switch from S mode or Not? I wanna use Google chrome instead of Microsoft Edge.
I have ms edge windows 10 how do I make google chrome my default. I just bought this laptop?
Where dose the download app go when you download?
Not sure if you've already figured it out. In case not, go to Settings>Apps>Default Apps>Under the "Web browser" heading, click Edge to open the drop selection menu. In the drop down, choose "Google Chrome". It may try one last time to convince you to keep Edge as the default browser, but you can choose "Switch anyway".
Programs you download will be saved to your Downloads folder. Once you install the program, most programs will create a shortcut on your desktop and if not, you should be able to search for the program through the built-in search bar in the taskbar.
that last one will save me some minutes for sure
Hello TechGumbo, your background wallpapers are very nice; please give a link of a collection of all the wallpaper images .
What laptop make and model is in the intro?
Where did you get the backgrounds in your video. They are very nice.
Somebody did coment that you get them in Bing Wallpaper. But most of the pix are from Norway. "Trollstigen" "Atlanterhavsveien" "Reine" "Henningsvær" " Lofoten" "Vidars lyse verden" is words you can google and you will find most of the pix in the wallpaper and many more.
There is a script to remove the bloatware and disable the unnecessary functions called Windows 10 Debloater. Be careful when using it though.
How did you get your windows black with white text instead of white with black text ?
TIP : you can use WIn+ number keys to open the programs on your taskbar in corresponding order
That's cool
Thanks
The first setting I change is always the one in the "power options". For some reason this is chosen as "balanced" as default instead of "high performance".
This have a huge impact on the overall performance of the computer, essentially removing half of its performance or something like that.
it has mere effect on PC
but has significant effect on laptops
i use low power mode bc i feel my pc is getting hot even tho it isn't xD
@@exgamer5073 Wrong. Completely hardware dependent. Benchmarks prove it. And Temps.

My Hkey local machine does not have personalisation option?
5:16 what is the program running named 'Program'?
Disable this setting:
Power & Sleep Settings > Additional power settings > Choose what the power buttons do > Change setting that are currently unavailable > Turn on fast startup (recommended).
Causes various bugs with software in Windows 10, and makes little difference if you have an SSD.
that setting did the opposite of some other laptops
Thank you
Hello how are you doing today?
Much appreciated TechGumbo🐈
At 9:56 I don't have a folder called personalization but something called psched in its place (compare to what are adjacent). In that folder there is the default reg like yours plus another DWORD called NonBestEffortLimit with the value of 0. Is this the right place to add the file you suggest or shouldIcreate a personalization folder pointed out by some of the comments?
Turns out I have to create the Personalization folder. Does anyone know what does the Psched one do?
hi bro under regedit my dont have personalization folder.
I dont understand what the last one exactly does, like what do you mean speed up shutdowns???
Pls give links to all the wallpapers used by u. They seem very good. Pls share.
I know right I really like the first marble wallpaper, could you please link it. It would look so good!!
Install Bing wallpaper .
Great stuff with some real useful tips for the less geek :)
One question regarding the "Disable Lock Screen" bit (9:14): I made the NoLockScreen registry entry (a while back), but it has no apparent effect - everything happens the same at system startup as it did before. Since this is my home PC with virtually no chance of anybody other than me ever using it, the startup login is just an unnecessary hassle for me. Could anyone explain to me why this regedit apparently doesn't work for me? Could it be because it's Win 10 Home edition?
i don't have personalisation folder

Thank you very much for this helpful information, but one thing about Shut Off PC Faster, Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop only 'HungAppTimeout' was already inside, but with the value of 1000, it's better to change this original value into 2000 as you advise in this video, please?
couple of good ones here
Keyboard short cuts are functional only for few minutes, help fixing it...
I have a perplexing problem. Settings issue old computer that's still new. And I fixed the setting once before forgot how to. Inside the Windows button there's a screen my computer always starts on that screen instead of the desktop. I hate that.
What is the pc shown in the thumbnail and at 0:06
For default browser, my only choice is MS Edge or Google Chrome or the MS Store. When I searched Firefox and Vivaldi, nothing came up. I would definitely like to change my browser, any suggestions?
Download one that you like, install it, then change it.
Perfect timing, I’m getting a new PC next Thursday. Thanks!
1:25 For uninstalling crapware I use Revo Uninstaller
This program not only removes the program itself but also scans for the leftover files and registries that are logging our system that are not in our reach since we uninstall the program directly from control panel
Also I want to ask that is there any way that we can scan for leftover files and registries through CMD
same
I use BCUnistaller, it's free and open source.
Ngl im getting a pc soon after playing on console for my entire life but honestly im scared cuz in know nothing about pc at all and it seems to be a shit ton of settings and shii u can do on there. Im a hardcore gamer so im gonna wanna have the best lil graphics and fps i can get out of it but ik for sure i would have to tweak some things in the pc settings but it just seems like its very complex to me honestly.
How do i move files to another Drive without windows to go?
thanks, i din know the candy crush thing is installed in, removed it right away
if i enable storage sense do i still need programs like ccleaner?
you shouldn't use ccleaner since it has security issues
I laugh when the part u explain about privacy haha
I missing Intel gtaphic properties from right click menu
Also how I ca not ' shut down
Anti malware service From task manger
Thx
how to show recent files ?
i have been thinking about disabling windows auto update for my newly bought laptop. is it a good idea or not?
As annoying as Windows updates are, its best to not disable them for security patches. In the end, its your computer, but I would rather be annoyed for a little bit than have a vulnerable system.
@@JJFlores197 bruh automatic updates keeps forcing my windows 10 pc to upgrading to windows 11 even though my pc processor doesnt support windows 11
7:05 is the best👍👍👍

Don't forget to activate file history to automatically backup your files
It only works if you have an external storage
