Teddy, as mentioned on the comments here, your research, content and presentation is unmatched. I saw the 1803 on my dad’s wrist decades ago. It fit his dress & style. This timepiece has been handed down to me as my dad’s mental & physical abilities have diminished. Although the shiny-ness is nowhere near my taste, I wear this precious metal 18K gold piece on occasions for Dad just to keep it running mechanically and in my memory. I will pass it on to my son upon his maturity. Teddy, thank you for featuring this sentimental piece on your channel.
My favorite watch of all watches. It was my grail from the time I was a teenager. Proud to own a 18238 and a 18239 - they get more wear than anything else in my collection. Thanks for the video!
I love the Rolex Day-Date. My boyfriend bought one with his first big signing bonus in the late 80s. He now owns over 40 watches, from Rolex GMT Master II to vintage Omegas and an old Patek Philippe.
My dad always wore the gold Rolex Day-Date "president" with a champagne dial. But, he was a flashy, Cadillac Eldorado driving, custom leather jacket wearing, cigar smoking gambler, so it fit him perfectly. I'm a Brietling and Tudor guy myself, couldn't pull off wearing that gold monster.
Teddy Baldassarre For you, and for other people, sure, for some of us with over 8-inch wrists, big beards and 7ft tall, a 36mm watch looks like a toy from a cereal box. Nice video.
A year ago I hated Rolex and swore I'd never fall for what I perceived to be their garish designs at the time. Nowadays I trawl instagram and UA-cam in an attempt to satiate the way I covet a DD36mm. Truly truly truly a grail piece.
My late grandfather owned a 18038 Day-Date since the mid 80s and he switched the fluted bezel with an aftermarket diamond one, as well as applied aftermarket diamonds to the center links of the bracelet (which unfortunately made it tough to service but I’ll get to that in a bit). That watch was eventually gifted to my dad when he and my mom got married in 1990. After my grandfather died of lung cancer in 2014, my dad gave the watch to my mom as a remembrance piece where she kept it and wore it until she eventually died of complications from pancreatic cancer in 2020. Fast forward to now, my dad and I finally sent the watch over to the Rolex service center in Belgium since it hasn’t been given a proper service since then, and because my family has had a strong relationship with that specific service center. The hands, dial and crystal were replaced with modern versions, the movement was also modernized, and the original fluted bezel we kept for the watch was reinstalled. A replacement factory bracelet was also installed, and the entire piece was polished to perfection. Now the watch is working perfectly again and it’s in my own possession. Never selling it.
I own a 1803 just when they introduced the hidden clasp, and I absolutely love the watch. I purchased it thirty years ago and serviced it only once and it still is as accurate as the day I purchased it. The watch looks very blingy being all gold but don't let that fool you the watch is very robust and built like a tank and can take a beating. I wear it all the time even when wearing shorts and a tee and can care less what other people think, the bracelet is as comfortable as it gets and just feels good on the wrist.
I have had Rollies for years. I LOVE my 1987 Sub. That said I was about to buy a NEW Sub and realized; I can get a SOLID GOLD President for the same price. That makes no sense in the grand scheme of things. I'm gonna be Tony Soprano. Love your chanel.
Teddy, I own the 1803, and I’ve had it for 20 years. It’s my favorite, and is not for sale. Excellent time keeper, I will hand it down to my boys. But it is a stunner, as well as a classic. Beautiful time piece for sure!😃👍✌️✌️

I have the 1803 circa 1973. Mine is a bit more bling as it has a diamond dial. I love wearing the watch, and I will wear it with just about any type of clothing. The watch draws attention usually with quick glances. Setting the day and date is a PIA so I keep it on a winder. I love the pan pie dial. I love how unique it looks. The one change that I would make aesthetically would change the plexi to a sapphire crystal. My understanding is that it can be done, but I have yet to do so as I don't want to ruin the originality and spirit of the model.
