- On days with cloudy water, the fly fisherman often falls short on the shore compared to the spin fisherman. However, Swedish flyfisher Peter Alexandersson has been looking over the shoulder of American redfish fly fishermen, and for years he has had great success with small spoon-like flies for chasing sea run brown on the coasts around Scandinavia.
Some believe that the Spoon Fly type of fly is beyond the limit of what can be called fly fishing. Others are of the opinion that whatever is able to cast with fly line on a fly rod must by definition be fly fishing. Swedish fly fisherman Peter Alexandersson wonders more about how he can optimize his fly fishing. And those who know Peter Alexandersson know that he surprisingly often hits the spot when it comes to fishing strategy and the development of new methods. In this video, Søren Flarup shows how he makes his version of the "joker in the fly box".

Something different that I’d like to try……. Thank you Soran!!! 👍🎣
You are welcome - despite the lack of flytying, it is quite a fun "fly" to make and deadly effective - give it a try 🙂
Very innovative. Great way to fish "lures" without spinning
It can be deadly, and you might imagine the movements that Spoon Fly can make, and still capable to cast on a fly-rod 🙂
@@ahrexhooks3652 well its look unbelievable. I can imagine the movement. The purists will day its cheating. But whatever is takes to get fish on the bank!
Nice Soren.
Thanks 🙂
Very cool fly. Thank you for sharing.
You are welcome 🙂

I sense in his intro that he’s ready for all the backlash from anglers that will inevitably show up to tell everyone what is and what isn’t allowed on waters and in your vice. Remember it’s just fishing. Have fun.
Absolutely Wyatt - but it is made for flyfishing and to be casted on a flyrod :-) But I got a lot of teasing from my flytying-friends lately, but it will turn when they see how effective this Spoon Fly can be, perhaps I can bring extras for them to try out 🤣
Should be an awesome redfish fly..... gold spoon, chartreuse fly.
