Old TOS Enterprise "stolen from Space Dock". NCC1701 USS Enterprise leaves Space Dock

Dockmaster: "Everytime I turn around, someone is stealing a ship named _Enterprise!"_
Awesome! Even though we see the TOS viewscreen at 1:12, I've often imagined how the Enterprise would've looked in I-III if she only had the interior redesigned, but kept the TOS exterior. I do love the refit configuration too of course and seeing TOS Enterprise destroyed would've been just as upsetting as the refit Enterprise destruction in III.
The movie refit Enterprise was nice, but for continueity reasons I wish they had stayed closer to Phase II Enterprise. I could never make myself believe that a was looking at a refitted TOS Enterprise. With the ease of creating CGI now, I hope someone will remaster the ST:TMP, TWOK, and SFS with a Phase II ship.
Joseph Nichols
In reality the only way refit Enterprise can be tos ship is to say the 1701 is the dedication plaque transferred to a new ship.
@@2bituser569 not really if need a real world of a ship exterior changing radically look at the USS Midway and USS Hornet both began their service with straight flight decks and both where modified to have angled flight decks where required more structure to be added to the ship so the movie refits could be added to the exterior of the ship and older outer hull could make up parts of the bulkheads.
Yes, I always wanted to see that also, the 1966-69 Enterprise in this movie's Space Dock scenes.
what should have happened was the TOS ship as is should have stayed the same for the 3 movies (update the model so it would look better for the big screen but make it 90% the same look) - it then gets destroyed over Genesis.
Then in ST4 the New 1701-A is an ENTERPRISE CLASS ship not a refit (so not only is the ship named after the OG ship but the whole Class is named as well)
then create a whole new class for Enterprise-B not use the Excelsior Class
the Enterprise's should always be a class unique to any other class ship we see in the movie or shows, so if the Enterprise-B is next to the Excelsior we can tell right away that's the Enterprise.

This Enterprise, for the original series, was actually a well thought out design by Rodenberry and his co-creators. There were many versions and changes before it was finalized. They actually cared about the ship having a reasonably functional design and look. That's why it had the grey, drab look of an aircraft carrier. But after Star Wars, Paramount knew that for the new TV series and consequent movies, they had to have cool-o, neat-o, ships with lot's of useless glam.
I love it too but design is not good. Thin engine pylons and saucer neck. And to mention that bridge should have a giant bullseye on it
@@jediknight73 The point of having a very visible bridge is to give the ship a sense of scale, and it certainly does it's job well. The USS Enterprise was designed to be beautiful and only somewhat practical.
@@jediknight73Thin=harder to hit. Realistically space battles would be fought at many thousands of km distance. You want the minimal aspect presented to an opponent. Facing off against an enemy vessel and pitching up 10° puts the bridge behind the radius of the saucer, which is mostly empty crew quarters at Red alert. Very well thought out.
I think you’re being too harsh on the retrofit, the design is a good balance between practicality and beauty, you can with minimal mental effort come up with a realistic reason for most of the changes, the new angled nacelle? Necessary to accommodate an enlarged shuttle bay. The moving of the Torpedo launcher from the saucer section to the neck and an increase in both phaser power and the number of phaser banks? A different combat doctrine, the original design was meant for one on one capital ship scale dogfights, the retrofit is clearly been redesigned for area control. I can go on but I think you get the idea.
Actually the reason why it was flat grey instead of shiny is because the shine screwed up the green screen effects. Now that everything is CG instead of practical effects, they can put the shine on the hull without the issues.
*Crashes into the doors because the firmware is too out of date to interface with Spacedock controls*
@MrHoppers002 im sure mr. Scott would have taken this into account and would have developed a device to successfully interface.
@MrHoppers002 *doors
No, There is Always a Spacedock Update
At the end, the "Big E" transforms to her original " Where no man has gone before" and " The Cage" look. Pilots 2&1.
I would like to see a version where the space dock doors don’t open... and space dock blows up :D
So this is why CBS used an inaccurate Enterprise. We stole the real one 😆
lol
Yes !
Are you referring to Discovery Enterprise. I assume they change the Enterprise in Discovery because they realized they made the technology too high compared to the original series creating plot holes with tos, tng, dsn, and voyager so they created a new one that looks about the same technology as Discovery so they can show that it’s a different Star Trek universe.
@@PokemonBoy-de4jd you hit that on the mark perfectly. Discovery is indeed a new universe unrelated to the Original and Kelvin Timelines.
a trick : you can watch movies on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching loads of movies recently.
Very enjoyable. Particularly the variation of shots as Excelsior leaves spacedock and homes in more menacingly than in the original, with the additional engine rumble, feels more like a chase.
I loved both classic Enterprises but I always thought it would have been more emotionally profound and made better sense if the classic TV Enterprise had been destroyed in SfS and the refit was unveiled as 1701-A in TVH.
@MrHoppers002 to be fair the the movie Enterprise, it had taken extensive damage from Kahn's ship, and it was the lack of a crew & repairs as much as the BoP that finished her off
@@lamelama22 FINALLY! The REAL reasons why Scotty simply couldn't have worked one more Miracle have been spoken!...😉👍🏻
But then that amazing Spaceship Porn shot wouldn't have been in ST: TMP ... which was a formative moment of my childhood.
This was a wonderful attempt! Great job! It wasn't crisp or clean. Not a problem. Some of it was akward but the nostalgia for the old girl came back! Thank you so much and another thank you for using the old musical score too! You have a new subscriber. 😀
Not so clear as you said. The video is about 12 years old so if I redid it, it would be better today. I also did not have the option of wide screen back then! I wish this was wide screen.
well done! I loved the usage of the old school warp sounds and the new star trek warp trails hehe
Seeing the TOS Enterprise run from the Excelsior is pretty powerful. Well done!
I was genuinely caught up the way I am when watching the normal scenes. Thank you for all the work you put into this.
All things being equal and considering the abuse each version of the Enterprise went through, this was and still is the superior ship. B got it's butt whipped by the Nexus rubbing it's feet on the carpet. C got destroyed by Romulans. D got it's ass beat down by one bird of prey and four giant tits. Riker got E almost burnt to a crisp by a cloud of gas while Picard was busy boning a 300 year old GILF. This ...this ship survived a superhuman, the Great Barrier, TWICE. Romulans, Klingons, Tholians, a baby Q and the hand of a God. You know that old ass footage of that 1920s car being dropped off a cliff and then just being started and driving away? Thats this ship right here. BIG FUCKING NUTSACK CONSTITUTION CLASS BALLS! (edit) Let us also not forget that it withstood four attacks by Nomad of which one shot was equal to 90 photon torpedoes which means it withstood an attack of 360 photon torpedo equivalency.
Love this comment, and is so true. Advancement in technology made things more vulnerable. Analogue was more resilient than digital, especially in space, cars in the 50's can rip through modern cars like tin foil, etc.
My name is Paul, you said what i can't NSCB
lol...but true.
If this version of the Enterprise was what was destroyed in III, I can only IMAGINE how many people would've lost their minds upon seeing her death. How many grown men who watched the show either while it was airing or in syndication would've walked out of the theaters seeing her final moments. For me, seeing the Refit explode was more than enough but I also absolutely love the Refit. Seeing the TOS Enterprise being destroyed.....oh boy.....
Nicely Done !
Would have been more era specific to have seen a Dreadnought pursuing the Enterprise though...
We don’t get to see Dreadnoughts often.
Yes, like mentioned in TMP Dreadnought Entente
Absolutely and positively beyond awesome.
This is brilliant!!! Thank you to whoever made this:)
This was a good start to my day. Glad it showed up in my recommendations. 🙂
Loved it - great job! The original scene in ST-III was one of my favorite parts of the movie - plus, the phenomenal soundtrack!
Great job. I always love to see visions of the future from different eras. It's almost like watching an actor portraying a person who is pretending to be another person.

This was some excellent compositing work. Well done!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for respecting canon not giving the TOS Enterprise glowing blue nacelle lights like so many fans seem hell-bent on doing! Drives me nuts!!! Although the jump to warp speed wasn’t exactly accurate. Then the ship mysteriously changed to Pike’a version of the Enterprise, which I didn’t understand. But anyway, good job!
Thanks, I’d never add blue to the nacels. It’s not supposed to have that.
The Pike Enterprise is totally a separate thing and I should have left that off. Oh! Check out my “arriving to space dock”, I think people are missing this out on that video: ua-cam.com/video/cQ0nJ977e4g/v-deo.html
Really excellent editing and video, very cool, thanks for sharing!
Ya know most people hate on the 'odd' numbered Trek movies...not without cause, but they all had amazing moments in them. THIS ( the original and your re-imagining here ) is one of the things that made ST: 3 amazing
That was actually pretty damn good . Well Done .
Might have been better if you replaced the Excelsior with a dreadnought. :)
Really appreciate the effort. That needed to be done!!
I'm improvising lighting a model of this beautiful lady😍
Great reference footage here, thank you🤩
Love this especially the use of classic audio! well done!
I really like the moment the sun for the first time shines on those TOS warp nacelles
Excellent! Selfishly, I just wish the chase ship had been an advanced TOS era design like the Franz Joseph style dreadnought. Obviously a lot of love went into this and it shows. Bravo!
Pretty sure if Scotty can sabotage a Transwarp engine, he can do so even more easily on a standard warp drive ;)
Trouble balancing a triphase warp field perhaps. Also don't forget Scotty was assigned there ibecause the Enterprise was due for decommissioning. He still would have needed to transfer somewhere, and sending the top engineer to the largest capital ship is sensible
Amazing work, enjoyed!
What you mean, "old" ? She ll be launched in 2245 ! That´s THE Enterprise !
That actually looked pretty cool. WELL DONE!
This looks amazing! Great job. I was never really a fan of the Enterprise refit, glad to see someone rendering the original.
Really ? I love both. The original is my first love and the refit I consider absolutely awesome.
@@diogocatalano9557 it's been some time now since I posted my original comment, but the motion picture design has grown on me and I no longer dislike it. I still prefer the TOS variant though because it uas the spinning buzzard collectors and looks a little simpler while still retaining the feel of a starship.
@@Starman20290 The original is revolutionary, brilliant design. I´m finishing to construct a 1/180 scale ( 160cm long), I love this ship.
@@diogocatalano9557 cool, I'm also working on a TOS enterprise. It's the polar lights 1/350 scale model.
That was fun, but the WNMHGB bit at the end was the cherry on the cake! 😀
Great work! Do you have an HD version as it doesn’t look as clear when I mirror to my TV?
That ship is awesome I still LOVE IT TO THIS DAY ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ long live NCC-1701 no bloody A,B,C,D, or E
Also, never underestimate the good ole "SWISH!!" of the older series as they go to warp verses the newer looking warp.
Very impressive, especially the window shot
Cool rendition. I like alternate imaginative version of classic scenes
This was beyond fun and so well done
Nicely done. I nearly cried hearing Enterprise's warp engines spool up.
FINALLY. The CORRECT ship!
That's the ONE and ONLY Enterprise!!
Really fun. The choppy chunks of music detract though....
Oh man, this helps me understand what was missing from the launch sequences in the first three movies!
I'm kind of disappointed whenever I rewatch them, because it doesn't feel visceral - as cool as the visuals and dialogue are, it doesn't feel *real*, it feels like I'm watching actors on a set. But in the last few seconds of this video, when you cut in the TOS warp engine rumble sound effect - THAT'S what it is, that low, gutteral, textural expression of effort and power, that really immerses. That sort of thing is what's missing from the Star Trek 1 and 2 drydock launch beauty shots.
Can't decide if I wish the battle damage was included or not... 🤔
Still, entertaining effort. My only actual complaint is the engine sound when Enterprise goes to warp. The sound you included is the moan of the engines and the hull when she's at high warp, straining to go just a little bit faster... 👌
Solid a, 91 and a half percent!
That is an excellent model, I wish I had seen this years ago! It looks like you may have used a metal pinwheel in the nacelle domes, as opposed to a second inner dome with lines as many do - and even the Smithsonian does. It's an effect that seems very true to what we see in the show. I read a book about the builder of the Enterprise, Richard Datin, and his notes indicate he used metal in the original, so good call on your part if that's what you did!
EXCELLENT!!! i never was a fan of the refit!! But 'm old!
This One is Very Cool, and needs to be shared
Excellent work
I know what you grew up with, Enterpise A with square nacelles, this is my Enterprise. you took the real enterprise into another famous movie
That was awesome!!
looks good but if the enterprise hadnt been upgraded v'ger would destroyed it with the first attack
The name Vger was actually Voyager 6. The name on the satellite prob was mostly covered with rust leaving only the letters vger visible.
The original design cannot be beat! Sound effects included.
Kirk , you do this you’ll never sit in the captain’s chair again
The original NCC-1701 Enterprise - no bloody A, B, C or D - is still the most lovely. Beautiful work! One question: why did you switch models at 2:28? The model switches from the production Enterprise to the pilot version.
OMG I played this out with my AMT model in a narrow hallway to the living room so many times. I can still hear my dad sigh and puff on his pipe.
This was adorable!
That makes the Excelsior look even more imposing. lol
Wow! The single antimatter containment vessels at the rear of the nacelles; that must be original footage!
well done, and as said a million times before, BEST. ENTERPRISE. VERSION. EVER.
Nicely done
Nice video.
Minor nit: At 1:04, you have a shot from what looks like a control room. One screen shows the TOS Enterprise, but the screen with the DANGER sign is showing a REFIT Enterprise (it has the swept back pylons whereas the TOS Enterprise has straight pylons).
Watch the actual movie and you will see the reverse issue. On the bridge when Chekov is telling Kirk there's an energy reading on 'C Deck' inside Spock's quarters, the bridge security monitors are using the TOS Enterprise's schematic. Starting at approximately 13:30.
I'd love to see you redo this (since you said it was awhile ago). The model itself is great, as was the lightup sequence:) If you did redo it, definitely focus on keeping the camera movement nice and smooth. Don't know how possible that is for a home studio.
I'd love to redo it again. I'm not sure when. Eventually the mood will strike me as an obsession and I'll do it. It would be nice to see it redone wide screen and more crisp and clean looking.
Was that the unused footage of the 2nd pilot version enterprise from the Roddenberry Vault DVD at the end?
Yes and I layered it over my homemade stars background.
@@nmatos2005 fantastic work by the way👍🏾🖖🏾
I LOVE IT! BLESS YOU!
I would have added the blue light behind the deflector dish. Otherwise, perfect job!
A shame it hasn't been revealed how many Constitution Class Starships haven't been re-designed and refitted and got decommissioned as well.
One more coat of paint and Enterprise was not making it through those doors! Awesome!
Very well done. Just cut off the last few seconds and it will be great.
The Enterprise in SFS was the battered refit of the same class of ship. I'm singularly impressed with this version.
Very nice. I think our Lady gets caught up in the space doors at 1:28 but apart from that, excellent work
I got to give it to you this is very nice I only have one nitpick, you use the warp effect from the Kelvin timeline that's just wrong man.
IN SOME OF THE ORIGINAL EPISODES THE ENTERPRISE HAD REAR VENT HOLES INSTEAD OF REAR DOMES ! AND THE SHUTTLECRAFT BAY DOORS WITH VERTICAL GROOVES !
Being a pedantic here, but no battle damage? Still an awesome video nonetheless!
For continuity shouldn’t the tos ship have battle scars from the twok?
Nope. It didn't have them, yet. :)
@@jeremygeorgia4943
Scars from battle occurred in twok and stole ship in tsfs so unless they patched up the scars it should have had them.
When I have to get a powered machine (fork lift, narrow-aisle reach truck) from another department, this scene goes through my head. HR has told me that I don’t need to shout, “I claim this fork lift in the name of the Klingon Empire!” and laugh as I drive away with it when I’m caught making off with it. “We know you need it, it belongs to the Company.” Had this stopped me from saying this, or trying my best to get at the helm unoticed? Of course not! It’s a game I play every time.
As much as I know the refit Enterprise/ Enterprise - A is beloved by so many… I’ve never really been the biggest fan of it… and this video is an example of why. The first 3 movies would have been even MORE amazing If the original enterprise was in it instead of the refit.
Excellent. Would love to see you put the Original Enterprise through the V'Ger scenes.
That was so awesome!!!!
Love the work absolutely beautiful! But why the ''Into Darkness" warp jump......
Glad you did but were not in 2004 anymore
The original was such a beautiful, simple design
That was f n amazing!
Beautiful 😎
Very good. The only issue I have is the Jar Jar style warp effect, but otherwise well done.
It would have made more sense if it was *this* ship Admiral Morrow was describing. That scene would have brought about a lot more emotion in addition to not being allowed back to Genesis.
Very cool
I remember some Artwork in a scifi art book with the Enterprise being stolen by a group called the 'Sons of Spock'.
I love this!
Fantastic.
Wow that is a epic thing
Now imagine if when the motion picture came out, they made the decision to state the Enterprise now was a new ship not a refit making no mention of what became of the original 1701. So by the time search for Spock rolled around what if they stole the original TV series enterprise not being able use the movie Enterprise stealing it from the fleet museum or maybe even better a Federation scrapyard just before it’s scuttled when Kirk went to the genesis planet. In pursuit by the Excelsior or even the other Enterprise itself. As gut wrenching as watching the Enterprise explode over Genesis and disintegrating in orbit was I think it would have been even more impactful if the Enterprise was in its original design. That would have fixed so many nerdy inconsistencies within the universe and would’ve just been everything to see on screen.
TOS. The best. I never warmed to the refit design.
I liked the colorful effect in the domes of the original Enterprise and so the 1980's movie Enterprise bothered me for not having that at all.
That was awesome!!!!!!
Really good
I love it!!
