Dude, Paul speaks so freaking poetic.
i watch paul masvidal interviews when i dont have pot, to calm me down
Nice to hear that Paul is not merely an awesome musician and great guy, but also has good taste in other bands...Dillinger, Meshuggah, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Opeth, Alan Holdsworth...can't argue with that list.
Paul is so cool! I wish more rockstars were like him.
Why are people so harsh on Rob, he is a good interviewer, he has fun with bands that mess around (The Red Chord) and he is serious with people that want to be serious (Paul Masvidal)....keep it up Rob.
Paul Masvidal are my favorite guitar hero !!!!
He's so wise
ive always enjoyed the interviewer, he does a good job of being himself but also in an interviewing kinda way. props to cynic as well.
Technical metal actually has a lot in common with technical Jazz - both require devote musicianship, both have a level of competitiveness and limit pushing. The big difference (apart from the aural style) is that Metal has more emphasis on live performance where as many jazz shows involve watching guys stand still while ripping it. I love death metal and swing/bop jazz, they are both great flavours of life and should be eaten regularly with a healthy side of groove and beats.
Wow that's awesome! Glad you dig these guys, they are one of our favorites. Thanks for listening/watching :)
Between 1990 and 95 i was obsessed with cynic and seans drummint
Paul is the coolest and most friendly guy ever.
Awesome, guys. Great interview. Thanks for posting the video. Much appreciated. Hail Cynic. Keep bringing the metal. Hails.
I love this band. Saw them live in May. Paul's microphone shocked him lol. Planning to see them this January. Also can't wait for their new material to be released!
Cynic is awesome! \m/
Ye Opeth it's a great band too, but have no comparation with Cynic, they have a music that it's like from another world and the fact that they have to support Opeth, it's like an insult for one of the best Death Metal influencial bands to be under them, and others.
Paul it's a fucking genius
Maaaan! Paul mention Ben Monder! All kudos to Paul for giving Ben Monder credit. Ben must be one of the most underrated guitarists. Check out "Orbits" with Ben Monder here on youtube. Try to keep up with the time ;) Best, Sandemose
As a son of a native Thai mother, I've went to many Thai temples and talked to monks, and my god Paul really reminds me of a monk. The way he talks, how calm he is, he literally is down to earth......he was probably stoned during the interview.
Damn! Paul can fuckin play that guitar man. Traced in Air was definitely the 2008 album of the yr for me.
Yeah Paul announced they are working on a new EP which will have remixes of traced in air songs and one new song and they are also working on a whole new third full length, so i cant wait!
Paul is so interesting. He's great.
come to the UK nao!!
Paul is such a chill guy
Nice interview
very nice interview.
i know this has been said multiple times, but Paul is a FUCKING genius !!
met all these guys at a show in orlando 2 nights ago !
wow this guy is ridiculously chill
Saw them last night. Was excellent.
Sean Kelley how was the show?
@@gart7511 necroposting.
Damn I wish Cynic would come down here to Texas!!!!
@vincentizghra You can use on-line programs like Power Tab or Guitar Pro and tab out your riffs electronically.
Most of the bands he named are some of my favorite bands. Btbam, opeth, dream theater, the faceless, soft machine (well, Alan Holdsworth), Mahavishnu Orchestra. Good to know his influences and bands he's keen on are similar to mine. Except I can have cynic to my list.
Holy shit, I was at this show! I had no clue it was being recorded.
looks like so far 26k people watching this Rob.
the interviewer is "Man Bear Pig"!!
that said i love metal injection, and the interviews... Paul is awesome
@TrollandDie That also makes a lot of sense, sadly, we will never know the true meaning of those lyrics but I've read in a few places that Chuck had something against Paul.
btw, the part about "constructive anger", and then saying "it's more of a TOOL to me" is kinda interresting, couse maynard said almost that exact same thing like 8 years ago. ^^ might be nothing, but still a cool coincidence.
I guess I can't expect much more from you.
and OH BTW, that concert with the p3tv logo down in the left. i was there, it was FUCKING awesome.
umm I just asked him to suggest bands to me and he did.
I can type quite well. I don't know where you're getting this from. Was it because I said kthx?
@ShittyMcPoopyBalls actually watch the vid on the side bar thats called Cynic Interview 1991. he basically says him and chuck get along fine and have a relaxed relationship. whether things flared up later i dunno, but thats when he was spending time with him so im guessing they were fine.
Yeah man your'e totally right.
Hope to can see them in Argentina!!
Sean i the beast!
Can anyone write me this fusion band who Mr Masvidal told in interview?
@KenefBadass ....well put my friend :)
they always did
they should ask him anything about his yoga practicing, paramahansa yogananda, self-educating.. its obvious, those things are really important.. i wonder why nobody never asked him about that.
Damn cynic is awesome
@ChainsawVsGod YEAH, thats the song, I hope its not about Paul, but everywhere online, people are saying that it's about him.
The check is in the mail for the plug. ;)
@Zyborggian All over the internet bro. There's an interview where Chuck said "He was trying to tell me how to write my own music". Try and find it.
Paul Masvidal is so chill and sexy. Tee hee.
i love how chill he is, its kinda contrastey cause he was in death =P
Paul seems like a man who is very experienced with psychadelics
@FrttMs I think Rob is tall, and Paul is really short...I'm not sure, I saw Cynic with btbam, he seemed kinda small to me at least
@R3b3lAp3 That question has been rumored for the longest time..I met both Paul and Sean, and there was something a little weird about them..I mean they are obviously a little weird as people, but I could have sworn that they are both gay. But really whats the difference, they are seriously the nicest people I've met in my fucking life. Paul legit talked to me, cared what I had to say, and was truly a nice person. Sean I only got to talk to for like 2 minutes, he was nice as hell also
@iamrichlol all of the time.
Paul is laid back as hell, haha
@AlexanderCzu Really? As far as I know, the members of Watchtower are still alive.
@RebarVictimo holy fuck.. that sounds amazing... so jealous rofl
Hahaha, or the Faceless one, i guess he interviewed everyone that was on that tour.
does anyone know how tall paul is?
Paul's face at 10:37!
@PearlJamm Well of course he's not gonna say "I'm not a fan of this guy" while he's helping him out.
@CtrlRm and twice at that!
"or other drugs" (smiles)
Psycheeeees lmao
"...or other drugs", lol. Paul is totally right. Acid and shrooms does wonders for musical creativity.
Yeah, tell me about it. At 01:45 the interviewer laughs when Paul says that he felt that he was being instructed. He laughs, and then changes his mind. Wonder why? He realized that it was nothing funny about it....stooooopid! (with italian accent) Paul is the coolest guy still, seem really intellectual, would probably be great to talk with him. Best, Sandemose
@vincentizghra Lol, you'll get the hang of it.
@ddensu LMFAO! that fucking genious!
@vincentizghra I love playing guitar tripping on acid and/or shrooms. All you need is a room full of equipment (half-stacks, monitors, processors, guitars, etc.) and you're good to go. Hit the record button and start improvising. You'll be amazed with what you can come up with.
who wouldnt??
"This is part ma spin-off from senate kinnear getting your fix of madeleine gestion."
@R3b3lAp3 I've always wondered, how does someone seem gay?
more like High as hell
@ShittyMcPoopyBalls
I think "hated" is too strong a word. If he did dislike Paul then thats pretty sad because both Paul and Chuck are gods.
Oh, all right, Mr. Perfect. I made a mistake. Shoot me.
@Mrbungleface I'm pretty sure Chuck hated Paul.
well he does have andre the giant next to him.
Nah you're taking it the wrong way. The "7 viewers" comment was clearly a goof on himself and his "Metal Injection" channel having no viewers and not Paul himself.
@ShittyMcPoopyBalls
Your thinking of The Philosopher. I read the lyrics to it and if they were indeed about Paul then thats pretty horrible. My repsect for Chuck has just plummeted.
@CloggedLacrimalGland hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaha. shat on that man!
HAHA....3:26 that was me...holyshit
haha believe it or not that was me
Paul is so laid-back he makes Bob Marley look like a paranoid schizophrenic.
Guys pretty well spoken compared to a lot of musicians.
I have a question for the interviewer:
While you were interviewing Paul, who was guarding Notre Dame?
Once he starts talking about jazz the interviewer has NO idea whats going on.
@ShittyMcPoopyBalls
Really? I thought that it was complaining about priests who tell us how to behave but don't ''know your own sexuality''; perhaps a refererence to the sexual abuse and vows of abstinance that they take.
I'm pretty sure that's the one you're thinking of (first time I've heard of that story) but I doubt he would sink that low-I know everyone saying how unbelievably nice a guy Chuck was is exagerrated but wasn't a bad guy I would say)
lmao
Adam's Murmur
Who let the dogs out? (at 3:26-3:30)
@ChainsawVsGod Chuck had a lyric in one song insulting Paul.
Which one philosopher?
@ShittyMcPoopyBalls well id still rather take the word of the guy himself than internet rumours....
Paul is so high
But then again Cynic don't care if they open for another band or headline a tour. It's not about that at all.
@R3b3lAp3
He just sounds like hippie to me, especially since he says "the vibe".
Hahaha 10:01
"legendary" but they were hated in the 90s lol
